OUT OF CONTROL :
School started back today and I’m going to be out all next week because we’re going on vacation so I have a ton of work to do so that I won’t be behind. I am going to try and get lots of replies & things done this friday & saturday night so that I can queue them throughout that week! I KNOW that I’ve been neglecting this blog a lot but I am going to come back very soon! I have two new blogs that have been stealing all of my muse but that’s not fair to Claire & I will be back on here throughout this week! I have a lot to edit on this blog as well, and I’ve been putting that off ( such as redoing tags, etc. )
but you can LIKE this for a STARTER and I will do those this week as well!!
new year's / new year's eve starters
“New Year’s is always the year’s biggest letdown.”
“So, what are your resolutions?”
“I swear, if I have to hear ‘Auld Lang Syne’ one more time…”
“Hey, sorry, it took me forever to find a place where my cell could get a signal… happy new year’s from [location].”
“What have you accomplished this year?”
“This year sucked. Good riddance.”
“Let’s hope this year goes better than the last one…”
“There’s a party at [name]’s house. You coming?”
“We’re headed to Times Square to watch the ball drop. You can tag along if you want.”
“Hey, last year of [politician your character doesn’t like]!”
“Just think of all the video games and movies that are being released this year…”
“No champagne for me. Designated driver.”
“Giving up chocolate for new year’s? I give it a week.”
“We’ve had a big year.”
“I plan to hit five parties before midnight.”
“3… 2… 1! HAPPY NEW YEAR!”
“Want a party hat?”
“Champagne?”
“Three biggest moments from this year?”
“It’s nearly midnight… have you seen my date?”
“Ah, yes, it’s almost midnight, which no one is going to kiss me at.”
“This time last year, I was living in a motel. This is definitely an improvement.”
“I’ve heard ‘Auld Lang Syne’ six times tonight and it’s only 11:30.”
“And to think, this time last year I was dating you.”
“I need someone to kiss at midnight. You up to it?”
“I need your help. I want to kiss [name] at midnight, and I need you to help me make it happen.”
“It’s New Year’s. Aren’t we supposed to be making out?”
“Oh, God, my ex is here. Pass the champagne.”
“Look, I know you’d rather be in bed, but could you at least pretend to be excited?”
“A toast to my amazing friends, and to the new year!”
“I should’ve been in bed two hours ago.”
“Are you sure [name] is up to stay awake until midnight? I mean, s/he’s only [age]…”
“Psst. Hey. Hey, wake up. It’s midnight. Make your resolutions.”
“I swear, if next New Year’s, we’re in the same place we are now, shoot me. Just do it. I’m serious. Just shoot me.”
“I remember when I’d get so excited for New Year’s…”
“Y'know, New Year’s sort of loses its punch when you stay up until 2 AM every night anyway…”
“I like to think we grew up this year.”
“No firecrackers this year. The neighbors complained.”
“I’m tipsy, covered in streamers, surrounded by hung over people, I have Auld Lang Syne stuck in my head, and I don’t know where my cell phone is. It is New Year’s.”
“You know, under the circumstances, I think this isn’t such a bad impromptu New Year’s party.”
“I can’t believe you gave our son/daughter champagne!”
“Come on, it’s New Year’s Eve, you can’t spend the whole party hiding in the bathroom!”
“How much longer?”
“Any good New Year’s specials on?”
“I’ve had a glass of champagne, I made my resolution, I watched the clock strike midnight. I’m going to bed.”
“You’re crazy. That place is always a zoo on New Year’s.”
“Just pick an outfit so we can go. I mean, it’s just a New Year’s party, it’s not a black-tie event.”
“We should probably get back to the party.”
“What are you doing out here on the roof? The party’s inside.”
“Snow on New Year’s! Wish it had bothered to show up for Christmas…”
“Where’s [name]? S/he’s my ride.”
“I rented a limo. We are arriving to that party in style.”
“To 2016. May it not totally fuck us in the ass.”

“ Show me again, the power of the darkness, and I will let nothing stand in our way. Show me, grandfather, and I will finish what you started. ”

OWEN :
One of his hands goes up to give hers a squeeze, his thumb running over her knuckles. Her inability to meet his gaze is noticeable so he looks away for fear of making her uncomfortable.
He stares down at the paperwork on the desk as she speaks. That’s understandable, sleep didn’t come easy these days…and that’s part of why he had been avoiding going to bed tonight. The nightmares, the screams that still echo in his mind, he physically flinches just thinking about it.
The hands on his shoulders are the only thing really keeping him grounded right now, the pressure is the only thing keeping him connected to reality at this point.
“…I’ll go to bed soon, okay?” he let out a heavy sigh as he gets up to stretch. “I’ve got two more pages to do for this one particular pack of paperwork…then I’ll get some sleep… and you’ll try to do the same I hope…?”
Claire’s gaze rises with Owen, settling on the man who now towers over her. The redhead gives a quick nod, trying to seem as if she hasn’t put too much worry into him not already being in bed. Her eyes are heavy and like it always does, her mind tries to drift to a time before she could close her eyes without blood drowning out her senses. Claire shakes her head slightly, a gesture entirely to her self before she nods again. “ Okay, if you have to. ” She smiles slightly, fingers reaching out for his hand before he can sit back down. “ Just ––– I’m going to stay in here with you, until you’re done. . If that’s alright with you, I mean. ” She shrugs, rubbing her arm that’s left bare to the chilly air by her tank top. “ I’ll do my best not to bother you.” She smiles, but it’s more of a side- ways smirk than anything real.
“I think I wear less makeup than I used to. Less feels like more now.”
Merry Christmas, Colby!
“She wanted something else, something different, something more. Passion and romance, perhaps, or maybe quiet conversations in candlelit rooms, or perhaps something as simple as not being second.”
OWEN :
Even if she isn’t very good at massages, the feeling of her hands on his shoulders alone is relaxing. Owen lets out a heavy sigh as she presses her fingers into into tense muscles. Years and years of stress have built up there—he has never once thought about getting a massage or anything.
“Put your elbows into it,” He says as he looks up at her with a slight grin. “But don’t hurt yourself—I’ll rest in a bit, okay? I just…I want to get this over and done with and then I’ll be out of this paperwork hell.”
“What about you?” he asks as he turns to look at her. “You’re one to talk, you’re up at…4:30 in the morning too, what’s that all about?”
Even when he faced her, she kept her hands on his shoulders. She wasn’t trying so hard anymore, but her fingers still squeezed every few seconds, more of a force of habit than an actual massa- ge. Claire blinked a few times at his question, and it wasn’t long before she couldn’t seem to meet his eyes anymore without a lum- p forming in her throat. “ I tried. ” She confesses, a heavy sigh dropping her shoulders as it falls from her lips in defeat. “ I just ––––– sleeping is easier when I’m not alone. ” It wasn’t her fault, after everything they’d seen on that island, it was a wonder than she could sleep at all. At least, when she was in Owen’s company she could rest for a while. The nightmares still woke her on most nights, but it was EASIER to remember how to breath if he was there to hold her.

“ now you just ––– sound like me. ”
a smirk lifts the edge of her mouth, but it dies quickly as she crosses the room and places her hands on his shoulders. Tense. The muscles underneath her fingers are tense with knots and str- ess. She’s never been much good at massages but she tries any- way, pale fingers digging into taut shoulders. “ Come on, it’s 4 : 30 in the morning. You need to rest. And see a chiropractor as soon as possible. ” she mumbles the last part, her wrists already getting tired from digging into the knotted muscles that weren’t budging no matter what she did. It didn’t help much that she hadn’t been to sleep yet either. That wasn’t something she trusted herself to do if she was alone. Not anymore.
ALICE :
“It’s – … I’m FINE, Claire. If something was wrong I’d tell you, I promise… I just don’t feel like talking.”
“ you don’t feel like talking? that’s NEW. . .” she tries to joke, hoping maybe her lover will crack a smile or a tiny laugh but there’s nothing. n o t h i n g. Claire lets out a shaky sigh, hands coming up to shove her hair behind her ears. The redhead crosses the room, taking a seat next to Alice at the counter. Pale fingers reaching out to brush over the other woman’s. Since when did this kind of action make Claire nervous? Make her mouth dry and her hands itch? “ Please . . . don’t lie to me. ”
