Asta wasn’t much of an investigator. Not to say she didn’t care, but she knew better then to press her luck when others had more experience with investigation. Though, that was implying she had luck in the first place. Which was something plainly untrue. If she had any luck whatsoever, she would never set eyes on Morpheus, the Sandman, ever again in her eternity. Yet there he was, at her favorite bar no less. Well. Favorite was a stretch. Closest bar was more accurate. She considered fleeing without a word, but with a click of her heels those tantalizing eyes landed upon her. Asta quickly recovered from her fleeing, posing her posture like she was simply walking and not ready to bolt. “I don’t suppose you’re on your way out?”
Morpheus had found himself again within a human bar, everything about it seemed to fit with how he enjoyed spending his time. Earth hadn’t changed as much since his last time here, sure they’ve gotten better with their technology and science but under neither it all they were still the same group of people. He heard her enter before he even moved his eyes to look at her, he had gone without his glasses this time changing his normally black eyes to look more human as he stared at her. He noticed how she seemed to tense when he had caught her which made him smirk. “Hardly I think I’ve decided to stay for awhile, so tell me what brings the caged bird here to this dump?”

I walk by her side, and the darkness lifts from my soul. I walk with her, and I hear the gentle beating of mighty wings.

“It’s awful,” Belphegor sighed, “and I have to deal with it all the time now.” Sometimes it was when they were asleep, and other times it was when they were wide awake. At least when they were awake, they knew what were memories, but when they were asleep, they could only tell from what they’d seen before. Even then, knowing what things were didn’t stop them from seeing those things over and over again and feeling traumatized by them. “He said I couldn’t investigate, but he didn’t say I couldn’t get help. Can you at least make the dreams stop?”

Morpheus felt a ping of sympathy for the fallen angel, nightmares could driven even the sane of them crazy if left alone for he longest. Especially if what they said was true, they couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t. He hated getting into their affairs since it usually always ended in bloodshed but this seemed different this was something he could look into without too much issue. “I’m sure semantics will go over swimmingly with the hammer of heaven.” he paused looking at them for a moment before sighing “I need to see what you are seeing to do that I need to enter your dreams through your mind, Do I have your permission to try?”

Can I just say that I have been in the sandman fandom for a while now and this is easily the best fanwork I have ever seen.
