so after spending quite a lot of time drying the Surprise out to refit her, i've now filled her back up with water and turned her into an axolotl tank!

'this is so stephen maturin core', i said to myself as i poured the axolotls in, and it rapidly became even more stephen maturin core when they all escaped and i spent the next half hour drowning myself trying to get them back. there's apparently a very large underwater cave system resting directly under the Surprise and most of the axolotls ended up in it. what fun.

but i did get them all back in the end! this is the view from the captain's cabin. all the Surprise axolotls are leucistic/cyan because i like the way they contrast with the dark wood. i'm going to build an obsidian tank for my gold 'lotls.
