Marauders Vlog Project
Ladies, gentlemen, undecided, and variations thereupon,
Let's face it: we are all Harry Potter fans. And who among us, after reading Prisoner of Azkaban, after the Marauder's Map and the Invisibility Cloak and all of Sirius' tales, who hasn't dreamed of seeing the infamous Marauders in action? Of witnessing their pranks and adventures?
So come join us at the Marauders Vlog Project! Starting this summer, we are working to bring to the world the filmed adventures of the Marauders and some of their fellow Hogwarts students in the year '76/'77, as our favourite misfits enter their 6th year.
Characters: You cannot have a Marauders project without James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew of course, nor would we imagine leaving out Lily Evans. But the other three houses will also be represented! For the Ravenclaws out there: Gilderoy Lockhart and Frank Longbottom; the Hufflepuffs will be glad to see Kingsley Shacklebolt and Alice Dearborn (later known as Alice Longbottom). Finally Slytherin will be represented by Severus Snape and Regulus Black. But you may wonder: wizards? With vlogs? That doesn't sound very canon-compliant? Don't fret now, and stay with us for some clarifications...
Context:
"Welcome, welcome to another year at Hogwarts.
Forgive your old Headmaster for saying a few words before we dig into this delicious feast. First of all, a special welcome to the first-years who are joining us this year. I trust the rest of you will teach them all about the many peculiarities of this old castle. Now to an important announcement. I am sure you have all heard of the novelty they call Batkin & Barlowe's Memory Box, as it has been quite the subject of discussion this summer. For those who haven't: you may have heard of Pensieves; they are precious magical objects allowing witches and wizards to store their memories. As such, they are rare and require intricate magic, and so are not available to all. The Memory Box is of similar use, however one cannot store any memory in it, only a recording of whatever one is currently doing or saying. For instance if one wishes to relate a memory, this storytelling would be recorded forever. It only requires a very simple spell, accessible to any witch or wizard or even 2nd years.
This is why, for the first time, in the spirit of recording life at Hogwarts for posterity, the prefects and Head Boy and Girl have been given an assignment. They will be issued one Batkin & Barlowe's Memory Box each, and will for the rest of the year relate any and all memorable or happy moments they wish to immortalise.

Of course, this 'assignment' quickly became more than that, as everyone, prefect or not, felt they had something to say. Letters were written to parents begging for a Batkin & Barlowe's Memory Box, and by the second week of school half the students were recording something, be it experimental spells, poetry, or stories they didn't wish to forget. At the forefront of these shenanigans: the Marauders, of course!
Auditions: We cannot do any of this without your participation! We need faces for all these wonderful characters, and of course writers for each of them as well. The audition deadline is July 31st, to commemorate a certain wizard's future birthday. All auditions may be submitted or sent to [email protected], and you may audition for several roles and/or writing spots.
Guidelines:
For Acting Auditions, please submit a video (under 3 minutes) illustrating what you think the character's vlog would be like. You may ask for a script but we encourage original content, we want to know you can bring the character to life in vlog form. Your age, race, gender, gender presentation, accent, etc. will not affect your performance, please audition for whatever character you want!
Aspiring writers, we would like one or two paragraphs of script for an imaginary video for your chosen character(s); feel free to include your thoughts on character development as well.
