Commissioned by @officialwarspite, a picture of Beatrice the Golden Witch of Umineko no Naku Koro ni!
I was given a lot of reference material, so it was a really nice and straightforward process. I really like Victorian clothing and the image that comes to mind with the era, so working on this piece was really nice. I was a bit hesitant when it came to colouring the clothing and gem though I think they come out rather nicely, thank goodness for the given reference materials and Google Image, they really saved me (笑)
In contrast to my usual works, even the more recent RikoYou, the piece looks somewhat stronger in hue. It always feels strange when I go with stronger colours and add more tones for highlights given that I usually go for more muted colours for my own pieces if I ever colour them. I do like it however, so I hope that I’ll be more confident with doing so. I hope you all like it as well.
Thank you for your patronage!
🍀 🍀 🍀 Wanna see more girls in Victorian clothing? Or even guys? What about your favourite anime characters in them, or even your OCs? You can by commissioning me! Details are here! You can now also support me by buying me a Ko-Fi over here
Commissioned by @officialwarspite, HMS Orion, an OC by siirakannu, an artist I admire.
When doing this, I was mildly concerned at first because there was to be a perspective based off the reference and I wasn’t sure if I could really do it as well as I’m really terrible with backgrounds and perspectives. Thankfully, I wasn’t required to do anything fancy, so that worked out pretty well ╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑
I was given a lot of reference to do this, so the work ended up being really smooth. I was rather happy with how her lines came out and I’m glad officialwarspite was happy with them as well. Though my colouring is still lacking I’m glad it turned out well. I love the idea of winter backgrounds, but it’s really hard for me to figure them out to be honest, I’ve never seen snow. It’s pretty different looking at it from reference and having experienced it myself. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to. I’ll load up a sketchbook for that day ╭( ・ㅂ・)و ̑̑
Thank you for your patronage and patience!

Last year my mother gave me a gift. It was a brass poppy pin for the Somme 100 cententry. It was dedicated to Corporal J Miller of the King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. It’s made with Brass from British Shell fuses fired at the Somme and the small red enamel has a little earth from the Somme area mixed in. I’m rather fond of it.
The Royal British Legion are trying to make sure every one of the British and Commonwealth service men and women who gave their lives in the First World War are remembered.
351,745 have been remembered to date and 831,508 are left to remember by the end of 2018. If you would please go to this link and help make sure they’re all remembered for their sacrifice, https://www.everyoneremembered.org If you don’t know anyone to remember the website can suggest someone for you.
If you’d like to remember Corporal Miller with me you can leave a poppy here.
Oh and please observe a two minute of silence at today, the 11th of November at 11am
We will remember them.
Thank you.
Tomorrow will the centenary for the end of the First World War and I am glad to see that the Royal Legion has had someone remember every soldier of the British & Commonwealth they have listed on their website.

The S.S. Schenechtady as she appeared on the morning of Jan. 17, 1943, after suddenly and unexpectedly cracking in half for no apparent reason while moored at the fitting dock at Swan Island.
The low-grade steel used for ships’ hulls was subject to brittle fractures when it got below a certain temperature, and when it did, invisible flaws in the steel would concentrate forces acting on the steel at certain vulnerable breaking points. So, if a flawed panel just happened to be installed in a high-stress location, the ship was essentially doomed – as happened to Schenechtady.
“Though, overall, the weight of a floating body must equal its buoyancy, there may be considerable differences between the weight and buoyancy at any one transverse section. These differences in loading will lead to vertical forces in the side – known as shearing force – and their sum will try to bend the ship-bending moment. These forces will exist even when the ship is stopped in still water but are much increased when she is moving through waves. The worst cases occur when she is head on to waves of her own length; if there is a crest amidships the ends will tend to droop (Hogging) whilst if there is a crest at bow and stern and a trough amidships, the middle will drop (Sagging).”
So basically there is a lot of stress of the amidships which was concentrated on the faulty panel for S.S. Schenechtady causing it to break, as above the stress happen even in still water. SO after her sea trials S.S. Schenechtady must have weakened to the point she broke to the calm water at her moors. They are lucky the defect broke then and they never had to face a storm.
