On Tiptoes

I’m living it on tiptoes Looking sometimes at hardwood floor To see my toes, red and the veins Jutting out

I still need to touch the floor I’m not flying Levitating

I tighten my stomach muscles Try to be as straight as possible I’ll meet your eyes in the process You’re so tall else

Maybe my equilibrium Will last me my life I’ll go down graciously Till the whole sole of my feet Touch ground I’ll take big breaths And gather myself to go up again

Feel the clothes stretch My body tired I’m living it on tiptoes Water high at my feet Wet ankles and denim jeans

On tiptoes i live Immensely strung out And stubborn To stay upright Uptight On my ball
