“I’ve half a mind to dress up as a Professor, but I don’t think they’d be too pleased.  My creativity is failing me but I’ll do my best to think of a few ideas.”

“Oh, thank you!” Daisy eagerly led the way out onto the grounds, heading across the grass towards the large, black lake, “No problem, you’ll be back in time for class. Cross my heart, Amelie.”

“Remember you’ve promised!” Amelie wasn’t sure about spending time with Daisy- it wasn’t too strenuous, but she was just so... bubbly. “Alright, where are we going? If it’s the lake, I can’t get too close.”

“Then let’s get to pouring.”

“well obviously, amelie.” she pursed her lips, unsure of the answer to the older girl’s question. “i haven’t decided yet, are you?”

“I’m thinking something dignified or political. Maybe the last female Minister of Magic. Undecided though- since no ones really talking about group costumes.”

rab couldn’t help but think now that the last drink he had was slightly unnecessary, as he wandered through the fun house, visage strewn by all the lights and colours about. he felt lost. as a group of girls flitted past him with their loud whoops and cheers, he lightly wondered when he’d find someone he knew. 

         narrowing his hues to scrutinise more clearly the next person he saw, he found they looked oddly familiar in his tipsy haze. the slytherin approached and tugged at their arm softly.  “ oh, right - there you are. where’s the way out? ”

In order to properly enjoy this “fun house” Amelie would’ve needed about 3 more drinks- at the moment, she was rather overwhelmed at it all, and had left her group of acquaintances in favor of finding an exit. Cramps, she’d said. She needed a tonic. When someone grabbed her elbow, Amelie tensed up, but recognizing Rabastan, she settled down.

“You look like you need an escort,” she surmised, giving him a small grin. “Come on, we’ll find out way out of this hell even if I have to kill an employee to do it.”

“Maybe you should wear a bell then, how about that?”

“Your solutions always require someone else to do the work.”

“ you could just think of it as fate. someone or something really doesn’t want you to go to history of magic. probably binns himself, maybe you. 

        —didn’t exactly see you push me out of the way like your other housemates would’ve. ”

“So I wasn’t going to risk personal injury for the sake of getting to a boring class- I still blame you.”

“Besides- Slytherins are ambitious, not necessarily violent. Someone’s making some harsh assumptions.”

“High hopes…” Severus replied, almost as if he was about to get up and leave–but instead, he extended his hand out to her to take the assignment in question.

Amelie felt herself getting cross- as a good student she disliked asking for help, but her grades meant everything this year. As she realized Severus was almost accepting her request, she handed over her papers and sat. “Be brutal.” No mention of how much time and effort she’d put in- she needed amazing grades and NEWT scores to get her medical internship come graduation.
