Not a mage, not a witch, and not a common elf by any means. The energy that came off the elf was unrecognizable, sending Fenris’ hair on the back of his neck standing on edge. He’d met the Witch of the Wilds, once - an experience that while not threatening had him hold his tongue of powerful forces. This was one of those moments; he’d be careful of how he spoke.
“You are no ordinary elf. What are you?” He asked cautiously, his body language showing no will for confrontation.
The in which the other carried himself-- It was not unfamiliar. Of the slaves in which the mighty had kept at his side, they, too, carried themselves in such a way. Though the days in which slaves had been kept were long since over and those who had been at his side long since dead, the ancient one did remember-- How curious that he should be faced with one so similiar again.
“--Mala nan.”

❝Father. ❞ milky depths betwixt scarred flesh doth stare up at the fall-father with a wanton, pining need for guidance. for she is but a lost halla among the flock who does require a gentle hand to lead her. So long had she mired in the thick darkness of a sentence unjustified. now she sought the answer that danced upon all their bitter tongues: why.
The familiar word met the dreamer’s ears with a pleasant ring-- Causing the slightest of smiles to form upon lips which were no longer used to such pleasant things. Though the halla would always have a place within the sun’s light, such warmth had likely not been felt in centuries. It was no fault of theirs, but-- The All Father was unsure as to whether or not she of such ilk believed that.
A golden gaze would then fixate upon her; pure, unrestrained pride managing to show itself behind such a closely guarded visage.
“Da’halla.”

she had been cleaning the temple she had guessed was dedicated to elgar’nan, the all-father. she was careful, gently removing dust and grime from once golden depictions. fresh flowers were arranged at the altar with a bowl of fresh water and leaves were cleared. it was a soothing process, to clean, though it was harder now she was short an arm, yet over time kali had adjusted well. in battle she could even call form a fade-like representation of what had once been there.
as she cleaned, she spoke, softly to herself about her recent trouble; about solas. kali believed he could be saved, she had felt his regret at his decision, and she knew with time she could change his mind. this world, however blind, was worth saving.
there was a sudden shift in the air then. everything sparked with life, burning with a fire that left the elf momentarily senseless. kali stumbled back, hand clutching her head only to feel her back hit a form. whipping around she was then frozen, eyes gazing up at the man before her. she could feel his power, could hear how the spirits that had lingered here called his name joyously and she whispered it, scarcely believing what she was seeing.
“ elgar’nan… “
The world had become an unbearable place-- The air which seemed to flow over it carrying nothing but sorry and leave nothing but disease and misery in it’s wake. Too long had it gone without the embrace of it’s father-- Everything that had once been golden, that had once proven to be as bright as the sun itself, had fallen into complete and utter ruin. Though such an outcome was not directly his fault, the mighty All Father could not help but feel as though he had failed his people in some way. He had been cast out in a time where both magic and elvhen ruled, only to find that when he managed to return, that both were now considered to be second class. To say that he was in no way hurt by this fact would be to tell a complete and utter lie.
From the shadows, he did listen-- Though, albeit not very closely until the name ‘ Solas ‘ was mentioned. At the mentioning of such a trecherous name, he would make his presence known-- He would make the earth bend in utter respect once more. While a bit of the power he once possessed had managed to slip through his grasp, he would not allow a single soul to forget who it was that made the world great.
As the pressure within the air shifted, so did his intentions. No longer was he so interested in gazing upon his would be shrine, rather, the ancient one was far more interested in the other’s knowledge of the Dread Wolf-- Though many a question plagued his mind, the God did not utter a single word.

█ ▌MASKED.
❝ YOU’RE MISTAKEN if you think i’m playing by your rules. ❞
“How carelessly mortals throw their lives away-- How they throw caution to the very wind. You do now know better than I, but if you wish to prove that you are a fool, then by all means-- Do not heed my warning. I care not.”
The voice didn’t lower and continued the screaming, for a moment Meredith wondered if anyone else could hear it, it was so loud she barely understood the words of the shadow in front of her. But she recognized the elven words, didn’t know what they meant, obviously she talked to an elf. A powerful elf that even the voice and the lyrium could feel his power. ‘Destroy him! Liar! Tear him apart!‘
“And I shall trust in you and your elven words? I do not even know you, stranger. ”
But she knew, would she provoke a fight, she would surely lose. There had a reason for the lyrium’s reaction, so she lowered the blade but slowly, after she firstly hesitated. “Tell me, who are you, elf?”
“Such is to be expected from one whose culture was built upon the backs of my people.”
Golden irises locked onto the woman as though she were some sort of target, never once straying from her visage. Humans were a rude, greed driven group of individuals-- Though they constantly sought to raise themselves to a point above everyone else, they would not ever know what true power felt like. Never would they know the sensation of truly being one’s better-- However, in all honesty, the elves of this day and age likely did now know of such a thing either-- Which made the ancient one far more dangerous than an unsuspecting individual believed him to be. Should this woman attempt to try his patience, should anyone attempt to try his patience, they would be met with such firey strength that the very balance of the world would likely be temporarily thrown off balance.
Elgar’nan did not fear this woman; nor did he fear any of the soldiers in which she happened to possess. If she meant to keep things civil, her tone would need to be closely monitered...
“Allow my words to brand themselves within your memory, shemlen. I am not a soldier in which you can command. I am not one to ever stand for rudeness. I suggest that you reword your inquiry and speak to me as a superior. Failing to do so will end poorly-- For you.”
A nomad clan - not unlike her own, perhaps? Or one of those that have preyed on her people? Mythal blinked, breathing deep. This was nothing more than paranoia, certainly, She was tired, and distressed, and he was… unsettling. As her heart slowed again to its normal pace, she could sense a magic deeply rooted in him, far above what most could access. In the Beyond, and even in waking, she could feel the spark of the spirits’ touch in every living thing, from her kin to their herds to the grass beneath their feet, an interconnected web of life and magic. His, this Feredir’s, burned like a beacon, and in brushing against it she felt her own stir higher than ever before.
When he started to laugh, though, her face twisted in irritation. She couldn’t help herself; nobody had laughed at her in years, not since she was a child and still called Arasinya by more than just her family. (And thinking of them, her mother and father and her sisters, caused another pang of pain and guilt - were they yet alive? Had they been killed, or worse?)
She glared at him. “You have intruded, yes. And as I cannot imagine that any who wished me harm would be so clumsy with their wandering… I must assume that you truly did intrude by accident.” Whether true or not, it was enough to assuage her fears - for now. “I know very few that the spirits take any interest in. Why would they choose to guide you, of all people?”
If she is correct, then perhaps she and her people need not be so alone in the world.
Had he had presented himself in an uncomforting manner, it was not his intention. Feredin might have been young and fairly inexperienced, and he may have come from a tribe where untamed personalities were to be expected, but he had never been the sort to intentionally make one uncomfortable. Especially if the other identified with the fairer sex. The notion of disrupting one in such a personal moment not only left him apologetic, but it made him feel slightly uncomfortable as well. Had their initial meeting been under slightly more normal circumstances, it’s highly likely that he would have left so that she could return to her business. However, fate had drove him to come to such a place-- And he could not tear himself away from it.
At the sight of her subtle irritation, the hunter pressed his lips together to form a fine line in order to keep his laughter within himself. However, a few stray chuckles managed to escape; much to the other’s dismay, certainly. Her entire demeanor was just so high and mighty-- He merely found such a thing to be humorous for the sole reason that he was not used to such a thing. Of course, his tribe had it’s elders, but none acted in any sort of way which could be comparable. But in taing her personality into account, Feredin gathered that she must be of great importance-- Why else would she seem so standoffish? He dared not ask, as it was not his place to do so, but he could not help but wonder as to who exactly he was speaking so...
“I speak nothing but the truth. My journeys to places such as this have never yielded anything similar to this before-- I did not believe that anyone else possessed abilities similar to my own. I have asked the spirits of their intentions, but was only met with silence. They, currently, remain but a mystery to me.”
His stance loosened as his gaze fell upon her once more; now much softer than it had been previously. She was a curious woman-- Was she not?
He does not know this elf – had never seen such a person before in his life – and yet there is the strangest feeling in Atreion’s gut, tugging at him, clamouring to be heard. It feels like… old knowledge, the recognition of something just on the edge of thought, a word on the tip of the tongue, and yet Atreion knows nothing. The fellow is large, intimidating, and yet so oddly familiar that it sends a thrill of apprehension through him, and all of a sudden he wants nothing more than to back away. However, he holds his ground as the Inquisitor should, gripping tight to his staff as the stranger speaks without preamble or reason – at least, to his mind. But he will not run with his tail between his legs just because a stranger makes no sense, and he draws himself to his full, if inferior, height.
“ Ara seranna-ma hahren. ” The words come slowly at first, and then with growing confidence as old memories resurface, struggling to remember old words dredged from campfire tales and ancient scrolls. “ Garas quenathra? Tel… Tel’eolasa‘ma. ”
Vengeance coursed through the ancient one’s veins as though it were bloog itself-- An old, furious being whose entire make up was that of revenge. A father to his people, the right hand of justice to everyone else-- One need not know his name in order to decypher that he was one of great importance. They merely needed to gaze upon his form, take mental note of his stance, and observe the aura radiating from his body to realize just the sort of individual that they were being presented with. Ground may have been held, pride may have been brought to light and used as a front, but the very world bent to the will of Elgar’nan-- There could be no mightier than he.
“A pity-- Truly. Though, if such a thing were to surprise me in the slightest, I would no longer be able to uphold my name. If you cannot feel within your remaining instincts who I am, then I see no reason to tell you of such.”
Ella looked upon the taller elf with a look of shock, she hadn't expected to come across such an apparition in the wreckage of the shrine. She was only looking for runes and shards, and perhaps to uncover a remnant of her people's culture. "You're..." she began but stopped, staring in awe. she couldn't believe she was staring at an Elven god. "Wow..."
A common responce from one of such a common background– Though he would speak as though he were not disgusted by what his people had become, being in the other’s presence only silently confirmed his displeasure. The one standing before him now, she was so frail in comparison to the elvhen of old– To bring down his true wrath would be nothing short of smiting her where she currently stood. Though, he did his best to push the thought of doing so from his mind.
Lowering his chin ever so slightly, the dreamer both recognized and agreed to the younger’s assumption; his posture remaining just as regal as it had before she had approached him and the remains of a temple long since lost to the world as she currently knew it.
“Such a reaction is to be expected, I suppose.”
( ofhanin )
“Mighty All-Father,” Fenasha bows, a shallow and mocking thing. She would not taunt him, too much, for she knew he could strike her down. No — without Lavinshan, she was weakened. “I am blessed for your presence, surely.”
Could she have possibly taken him for a fool? Did she not believe that he would have seen straight through her mockery as though it were mere glass? Her tone would not sit well with him. Though it was a subtle bit of teasing, it mattered very little. He would not allow himself to be disrespected in any way.
“Do not patronize me. You were wise enough to not make your mockery obvious, but not so much as to stop your behavior all together.”
ofhanin
“Oh, Maker. What the fuck have I gotten myself into.”
HE’S NOT TREMBLING. Not too much, at least.
“Did, uh.” He clears his throat; “Did I do something… bad?” For what other reason would this being stand before him?
He was not so blind as to ignore the blatantly obvious display of fear before him-- The very petrified aura in which the other gave off practically radiated from his body. And, oh-- How the God did find pleasure in it.
“Do not-- Mention the false father’s name in front of me. I did nothing but step within your line of vision for you to tremble in such a way. Which leaves one to wonder-- Did you do something which would cause me to be displeased?”
The elf’s realization is a certainly a gradual process. He stands with his daggers - raised && poised to attack - for several lengthy seconds before he even considers giving the stranger a once over. Blues peer curiously at the newly revealed form of another, studying his appearance as though to decide whether or not he has seen his face before. T'would appear not, for Elthorn does not recognize his face, however… There is something very strangely familiar in regards to the air around the other. Something… comforting, in a sense. Briefly, features contort in confusion - which slowly, but surely, morphs into realization. ❝ ma ane… Elgar'nan. ❞ The Inquisitor straightens himself then; arms rising to swiftly return daggers to their rightful place ‘pon his back. ❝ ma sil'ahnem. ❞
Golden gaze remained fixated upon the other as their entire demeanor began to soften ever so slightly. As though his presence had finally begun to click. But the younger need not gear any insults nor anything remotely aggressive geared towards him at that very moment. Though rageful, to fail his duties, even know, would be one of the most disgraceful things that he could possibly do. He had his pride, of course, but he dared not ever give up on one of the reasons why he had ultimately been made a divine. To do so now, after all the years he had spent within the fade, would make him absolutely no better than the man who had sent him there.
Taking a regal, most impressive stance, he would then allow his chin to dip ever so slightly in a nod of agreeance. There was no need to deny such, but even if there was, to hide such a status had never been in his character. True vengeance could never remain hidden, after all-- And this distant kin, he needed vengeance more than any he had encountered since he became free of his bindings.
“Or’vin.”
And his voice did mimic the regality he had displayed-- It’s tone low and mighty, but carried no aggression along with it. He wished to guide the other to certain glory-- Not frighten him away with his sheer might.
“Nan tel'sastmelana'din.”
❛ Fine, fine, fine. Allow me to take it all back, for I was WRONG! Woe. O’woe. I will rue the day I ever besmirched your words, o’great Elf. I beg of you, ser—forgive me. Seek pity ‘pon my soul as I tell you from the bottom of my heart that you’re a damn fool. Really? Really? ❜
A scoff rolled pink hues with amusement. He had met men with egos as grand as his, but they weren’t as boastful…
❛ –And call my men weak one more time, and I lay promise that those will be the last words you ever speak. ❜
“They are weak, just as you are weak, as this entire world is weak. I will not be slain by one who cannot even accept that their race, that their people, are doomed to die. You wish to silence me? I implore you-- Make an attempt.”
In all honesty, the divine hoped that they would-- For he found striking down mortals who believed themselves to be of higher standing than they actually were to be one of the most gratifying things to ever exist. The very notion of blood being spilled by his own two hands was far more inticing than anything else he could have imagined at that moment.
Prayer, no matter who it comes from, is something that Elgar’nan will never ignore. Vengeance and fatherhood draw him in like a moth to a flame-- If you speak to him with true desire in your heart, he will hear you. Anger may have overcome him, malice and the need for personal revenge may now drive nearly all that he does, he is not so far gone that he has forgotten his duties as All Father. His presence may not be made immediately, and his reaction may not be what you had been expecting, but he will not ignore you. He will never ignore you.
Age of Darkness by Brunild

Steps echoed through long since emptied halls-- As though they were mere memories of those who had walked there before him. Though darkspawn had practically infested the underground ruins, the God had laid waste to their ranks immediately upon his arrival So, yet again, did he find himself alone; silently admiring the glyphs left behind by those who had made them centuries prior. Ever so carefully would his fingers glide over them-- As though he were remembering the age in which they had been created. Even as the other approached, he could not bring himself to stray from the thought. Their footsteps drew more and more near, but yet-- He failed to care in the slightest bit.
