“Well of course, one could hardly leave the house otherwise.”
"I don’t know... have you seen some people??” She rose her eyebrows with a smirk.
floreo-flora:
It looks really good like this. Not that it didn’t look good straight, but I always like the natural look. Tragically the natural look for my hair is just straight, but still.
"You could always curl it, It’s not a natural look but no one has to know that.” She grinned a little bit. There was no doubting her hair was not straight but hell she could probably pull off the lie to some less knowledgeable people.
divine-disassociation:
“You have to ask? Mints would have the perfect weight not to bounce out of your hair.”
"Would they? I can’t say I’ve ever really tried that...” She pondered a moment.
divine-disassociation:
“Not a bad look. Though, it definitely encourages me to throw mints into it.”
"...Mints? Why mints?”
floreo-flora:
It looks really nice! You should definitely wear it like that more often.
"Thanks, I think I might. It’s not hard to straighten.” Not with magic and potions made for such things. “But I don’t know... I kind of like it natural.”
claraeustacia:
“You should. It’s quite arresting.”
"Thank you, I like to think I manage my hair well no matter how I style it.”
"I let it do whatever it wanted today... I kind of think I might do this more often.”
countesszabini:
With a smile, Contessina nodded at the younger girl in approval. She was pleased that her life was going well. So rarely did she invest time in others that seeing her time be used on the right person filled her with great joy. “Oh I know, the house is so quiet these days without…” She trailed off, forgetting her husband’s name. “You know.” Contessina didn’t care if Alana knew how crass she was. She had nothing to hide from the girl. “Which reminds me! Your Christmas present is finally done! It’ll be waiting for you at your place when you’re back!” She wouldn’t spoil it, but it was an emerald-encrusted vanity mirror enchanted to provide her with compliments when asked. She had been gifted a similar one with diamonds by her first husband. “But I would absolutely love to stop by. There’s nothing more peaceful than a perfect green house.” A warm smile melted on her face. “I actually have the most wonderful news, now that I’m at a point to share it! I’m expecting! A beautiful baby of my own, Alana, can you believe it?!”
"Oh I’m sure! It must be dreadful being all alone again...” The words were very kind and what someone should say to such a situation, but the (intentionally) poorly disguised sarcasm dripped from the words, followed by a knowing grin as she sipped at her tea. If Alana found a match good enough that could elevate her status- well she wouldn’t be entirely opposed to Contessina’s way of things. She just still had a bit of a soft spot for marrying for love. “Oh, I can’t wait! You always have the most wonderful taste.” She truly was excited, Contessina was one person Alana trusted whole heartedly and could absolutely see getting a gift she would adore. “Oh it’s perfect, I’ve got the most wonderful set up. Each plan has a perfect climate to grow in... Oh- I also brought your gift with the stipulation that there’s more where these came from.” She passed a neatly packaged bundle of dozens of different herbs- each packaged properly for storage and a few in there that were very difficult to find due to their... well- less than legal nature. She listened excitedly when Contessina said she had news, her eyes widened. “Are you?! That’s lovely! The world will benefit from a child raised by you! They’ll be so lovely!” She clasped her hands in genuine excitement. It was- strange that so many around her were beginning to get married and have children, not that marriage was a new concept when it came to her mentor, but the baby was. Perhaps she should put more effort into finding a proper match.

Is that the one with the little bangles on the bottom?
"I’m not sure, I was distracted by the tinsel covering the rest of it.”

floreo-flora:
Oh, thank you. [ she takes the card, smiling ] I’ll have to do some further investigation. I must ask, though, since I’m trying to figure it out. [ she gestures around ] Worst dressed?
"Oh I don’t know who it was, or where she is right but I saw someone wearing a dress that looked like a poorly transfigured Christmas tree.”
countesszabini:
Contessina glanced across her crystal tea table, smiling at the younger girl. Her little protégé. Her very own masterpiece. She had such high hopes for the young woman, seeing something like herself in the other girl’s features. The dark skin, the hunger for more, the confidence that exuded from her pores. She was everything Contessina had been at that age, and so she had taken it upon herself to guide her. At least as best she could. “So, Alana,” she said, sipping her tea - herbal, for the baby - “Tell me, how have things been going with you?”
@ofimperius
Contessina was the reason Alana had found the strength to tell her father off when she did. She was the reason that Alana had been able to make the final choice to leave behind her father and his primitive ways. Contessina was her idol, even if she wasn’t quite willing to say as much out-loud, she knew her admiration was obvious. “Things have been amazing really.” She sipped her own tea as well. “Living on my own is great, though a bit too quiet sometimes. You’ve got to come see the green house sometime... It’s beautiful.” She actually properly smiled fondly. “How about you? I feel like we haven’t caught up in... ages.”

“Of course, I had to order it months ago, you know how ateliers get near the holidays, but it is well worth the wait.” Clara stays still, feeling a carefully hidden sense of superiority to not be so obviously preening the way Alana is, even though she’s done the exact same thing before and doubtless will again.
"Oh, absolutely.” She nodded in agreement. “Such a lovely color too. Suits you quite well.” She didn’t feel the least bit of shame for her attempt at fishing for compliments. She felt she deserved them and if they weren’t dished out willingly she was going to drop hints about it.

floreo-flora:
Sure, might as well. Personal tailor sounds quite fancy, really. That’s an excellent treat, and a very fashionable one too. Definitely makes you best dressed at this.
"Oh I don’t know about that...” She smiled sweetly. “But I appreciate the sentiment.” She had to at least pretend to be modest, right? “Here, it’s his card.” She pulled out a small business card with the tailor’s name and contacts on it. A picture of a dress spinning as if dancing and changing each twirl in the background.

bellealina:
Alina gasped appropriately, putting her hands to her cheeks. “Oh, look at you!” she said. She knew fishing for compliments when she heard it, since she did it all the time, and she wouldn’t leave her friend hanging. Not to mention it really was gorgeous. “You look gorgeous!”
"Thank you! Normally I wouldn’t have a special dress made... but well, I wanted to treat myself!” She grinned, giving a little spin so Alina could admire the dress in it’s entirety. “But! We can’t ignore how lovely you’re looking either though. Beauty must be admired.” She paused, giving a proper look at Alina’s outfit as well.

claraeustacia:
“And what an exquisite dress it is.” Clara smiles gracefully, disguising her distaste at Alana’s obvious fishing with practiced ease. “It’s certainly well worth the occasion.”
"Isn’t it? I have to give props to my tailor honestly...” She twisted slightly, showing off more angles of the dress. “And your looking lovely as well.” She could suck up to anyone need be as well accept compliments, mind you.

floreo-flora:
Well I think it’s a lovely dress. Am I allowed to ask where you got it, or is that a secret?
"Personal tailor actually... I’d be happy to give you his name if you want it. I felt like treating myself in having this made this year.”
daffodilmvlfoy:
“You’re right there, I suppose. We’re going to have the most beautiful baby,” she said wistfully. “But trust me, this texture only comes from hours of alone time in front of the mirror,” Narcissa teased. “To wake up and look as perfect as you do, what I wouldn’t give for that!” An even bigger smile, sliding her hair over her shoulder. “Oh… how sadly true that is. I count myself lucky to have such true friends. I only hope that by the time our children are in the world, they can be free to be as superior as they truly are. Once… everything is over. It’s only natural.”
"Oh you will too!” She agreed, Alana could actually imagine a perfect blend of the two in the form of a small child. Said child would be beautiful as well. “Oh you flatter me, you always know what to say.” She grinned, finally just accepting the compliment- because well, she was also quite beautiful and her hair was lovely. She thanked her mother for her hair honestly. Her father never quite had the luxurious locks the two women did. “We’re fighting this war for a reason and the safety, and superiority of our future children is the top for many of us. Well... that and our own stations of superiority of course...”
