And sibling bonds were lost in that moment and in some ways he hated them even more than he hated their father. “I have a few, and they remain very loyal indeed.” Or so he hoped, otherwise he would end them too. “You look it and I appreciate the offer.” a strange offer at that, one he was not expecting to get from any human.

She nodded as he discussed his siblings. She was far more comfortable listening then speaking, after all she had spent 20 years just listening to everyone’s elses lives. Listening was one of the few things that felt familiar now. “Sorry I know I must be a bit... strange for a lack of a better word. It’s been a long time since I’ve gotten to talk to people and I’m still getting used to it all.” She admitted.

None of what she said made sense. Then again, neither did his very existence as a phoenix. And now she had been dragged into the very world he had hoped he could keep her from. She too was an enigma. Sebastian took a moment, gaze flickering between her form and the bayou beyond them as he processed it all. “So what the hell does that make you?” He remarked, still coming to terms with the simple fact she was alive. A part of him wanted to drag her into his arms, confirm that she was real and alive. Instead he shifted to sit at the opposite end of the bench to her, gaze meeting hers once more. “You best start talking then..” He remarked, tone quiet.

She gazed at him for a moment, it was strange that he still looked the same as he did all those years ago. “Human, I guess. I mean I’ve only been back a few days but from what I can tell I’m just me again.” She explained awkwardly. “Honestly I’m not sure there is a name for a dead girl walking.” She grumbled running a hand through her hair wishing the world was easier, wishing they had been give their chance at a normal life. “And either way I’m not the only one who has some explaining to do Sebastian.”

Since the death of his family and the loss of his fiance so many centuries ago, Sebastian had made it something of a mission not to get attached to people. In his eyes he was a walking death trap, those that he came to care for or enjoy the company of either ended up hurt or worse. Perhaps it was a little over dramatic but the way he saw it, it was better to distance once self than go through it over and over. “Ada—” Sebastian started, gaze wary as they turned to meet her own. There were no words that could possibly explain what he felt in that moment, anger, shock, confusion. ”You could start with how the fuck you’re even here?” He remarked, hauling himself off the bench in one swift motion as he took a step back from her. Sure he was aware of the supernatural world and all it’s enigmas, hell he was one of them, nevertheless one could never be too sure.

It was strange how it seemed like just yesterday they were normal best friends spending late nights like these chatting, now she had no idea how to talk to him. “It’s kind of a long story.” She started as she fiddled with her hands. “When I.... when I died I didn’t find peace. I was stuck as a spirit for the last 20 years, Sebastian. When the door to the other side was opened I was able to slip through.” She explained looking down at her hands not sure what to do, a part of her just wanted to hug him and be with her best friend and the other part wanted to run away from all this supernatural insanity (including him and her sister). “Can you just sit down? I want to talk.”

DON’T YOU DO IT, DON’T YOU DO IT, DON’T YOU DARE DO IT HOFNIEL! The voice inside of him screamed at him not to do it but he saw her expression and knew he needed to. Plus he was one for sticking it to the man these days, so, “Would you believe me when I say angels are real?” didn’t seem so bad to ask. Better to prepare her first. “We are. Real. Real as the rest of the supernatural species roaming these streets. I know what you are because I was given the ability.” It was always brief but he always picked up just something about someone.

It was weird for her to hear angels were real, would she have gone to heaven if she found peace? What really was real in this crazy world? As she looked over him she couldn’t see any obvious signs he was lying and couldn’t think of any reason for him to lie to her. “Honestly I wouldn’t even be surprised if you told me centaurs are real anymore.” She admitted. “But thank you for your honesty. I’m still figuring this all out and it means a lot.”

Days had past since chaos had spilled from the event onto the streets, and still Sebastian could not shake the image of that poor girls lifeless body from his head. Her haunted face had been stalked his dreams ever since. Having ended up on a park bench one that overlooked that bayou -after a long but much needed run - the male hadn’t realized just how far he had come in the short time. It was only when the presence of another took a seat beside him that he was brought back from his thoughts, their words lost upon him. “I’m not much of a late night conversationalist, so if it’s a distraction you’re after it’s probably best you look elsewhere.” He remarked as he acknowledged the other, perhaps it was a white lie, or perhaps it was he who was in need of the distraction.

Nighttime was the only time she seemed to be able to get some alone time. Since coming back she would do the same walk every night just enjoying the silence she had grown so used to in her time as a spirit. She hadn’t expected to see anyone she knew on her walk, in fact she never expected to see him again. She stood still for a moment just watching him sitting alone on the park bench before she took a deep breath and sat down, maybe she was so exhausted she was hallucinating? She looked up at the clear night sky at his remark and sighed. “I’m not even sure how I’d start a late night conversation with you.” She said before turning to look at him.

Of course that was okay. She was secretly holding out hope that her sister didn’t think her too much of a monster at this point. It had made her nervous in a way she hadn’t been in a long time. “Of course I want you at my place. I just… I just want you to be comfortable.” Wherever that was, Hayley just wanted her sister to be comfortable. “It’s this way. Just up the block a little.” When she set out this morning to wander, she hadn’t expected that she’d find her sister like this. It was like running into a brick wall really. You could try to avoid it but you were still going to hit it. There was no avoiding it. “Have you eaten? Have you slept? Have you…” All of the questions that filled her, she couldn’t help ask. Was it the mother in her or the dormant sister?

She couldn’t help but smile when she heard her sister’s concern. “Hayley, the only place I’ve been comfortable since I’ve been back is with you.” She explained not wanting to fully admit how afraid she was but figured it was alright to let her sister in a bit. As Hayley’s questions bombarded her it was only more of a reminder of her exhaustion. She decided it was best not to worry her sister to much, after all she had a child to look after so she changed the subject back to Hayley. “How long have you been back?” She asked honestly wanting to know how her sister was adjusting. She prayed her sister was having an easier time then she was.

She… She knew? She saw it all? Hayley feared now for her history wasn’t without a few monstrous moments of her own. Her words were caught in her throat until she blinked away the tears and forced herself to swallow the lump that had grown in her throat. “I have an apartment a block away if… If that’ll work for you? Or the Grill is a couple of blocks away if you want that?” In case… In case her sister didn’t want to be alone with her now.

“Your apartment sounds nice.” She said hoping that would be okay with Hayley. She rocked on her feet ever so slightly because of the nerves, all she can think about is what it will be like if she is alone in a world she doesn’t know because even if Hayley says she wants to be here with her can she really believe her? “I mean the Grill works too if you don’t want me at your place which is totally fine.”

His jaw tightened and he reminded himself this was his punishment for opening his mouth. He had welcomed the questions as soon as his lips parted. “It isn’t something you can see but it’s something you can feel. A certain kind of death. A permanent one. One there is no escape from.” Not one with a near death experience or something like that. One that death’s grip had so tightly wrapped itself around and declared “THIS ONE IS MINE TO HOLD.” and once that happened no one dare defy death. But now that someone had opened the doors and let the dead roam free, death wanted it’s revenge. It came in the form of the reapers.

“From the dawn of time. From almost the first echo of creation. Good and Evil have been at war with one another.” Some would say his brother, Lucifer, was responsible but Samuel wasn’t so sure of that. Not necessarily no. But there were always two sides to war and this set for this war was Good and Evil. “Now that the truth has been exposed, things are shifting. Witches, werewolves, vampires, angels, demons, whatever creatures your parents told you weren’t real. We’re all fighting it and if you stay, you’ll be fighting it too.” Considering she was staying, well…

Death was a feeling she was familiar with, after all she’s been dead for longer then she’s been alive. She didn’t expect anyone to able to feel it too, to understand what it feels like to never be able to escape. Her life now was nothing more then a glitch.

When he mentioned supernatural creatures she began to think of the life she watched her sister and niece live from the other side. She never expected so much to be real though, or for it be coming to such a head. She couldn’t help her growing curiosity. “Is it rude if I ask what you are? I mean you know what I am.”

Hayley’s heart raced. With fear? With sadness? With happiness? All damn three at the same damn time. “You’ll always, always have me, Addie.” That name – it brought a smile to her lips. It had been twenty years since she had spoken it aloud. Her darkest secret, her most bitterest truth of them all. “But there are things you need to know if you want me… I’m different now. I’m not even human.” No she wasn’t even one full species. Two. “I’m a werewolf and a vampire. A hybrid. Those creatures we thought were in story books and movies… I’m both.”

Addie looked up at her sister and finally realized she would have to tell her she had been a spirit, she had to explain that she was there through all of it and had no idea how her sister would react. “Hayley, I know.” She said carefully. “I-I saw it all. I well, I was there with you.” She started unsure how to explain. “Maybe we should go somewhere else to talk about it.” She decided realizing that they were blocking the sidewalk and could feel people looking. It made her uncomfortable to be seen by everyone like this.

She never had to deal with anyone like those girls before, the worst of them had been Qetsiyah. And though these girls didn’t match that women at all, they did grate on her nerves. She was ready to walk away from them, in fact she was anxious to do so Despite all that though, she was happy to meet eh young blonde. She seemed nice, and Amara enjoyed the kindness she displayed.

She gave a nod of her, understanding more about the girls situation then most anyone else could.”I know that feeling.” She exclaimed, voicing her thoughts. She pressed her lips together as a smile swelled on her features. “Yes, that would be lovely.” She said softly. “Thank you.”

She nodded as she walked with the girl away from the cruel teens. She had to admit the small town was absolutely beautiful. Perhaps it’s beauty was meant to mask all of the death and evil hiding inside.

“My names Adalind by the way.” She said realizing as they walked she hadn’t properly introduced herself. “Though most people just call me Addie.”

“It takes a lot to hurt me, I’m fine.” The woman replied with almost a small smile, now looking at the blonde and crossing her arms. “You should stop apologizing too much.” Because Aurora didn’t mind if someone bump into her or anything, she just hated when someone was like this, all good and trying to apologize for everything, the redhead just didn’t like that at all.

She was also way too distracted ,especially because she was still trying to figure things out about how to have her brother back, that was the most important thing for her right now.

Addie couldn’t help but be embarrassed when she told her to stop apologizing so much. She was about to apologize for it but stopped before she could. “Right, right I’ll keep that in mind.” She said as she watched the other girl noticing her mind was miles away.

“Do you need any help? You look like your mind is a million miles away.” She pointed out wanting to honestly be helpful, after all she did run into the girl after all.

He had to hand it to her. Someone had told her to get out but she bravely decided to stay. Not many did. It was a nice quality as it was a foolish one. Strange how you couldn’t have one without the other these days. Samuel admired that in her. Her choice to stay.

“Then stay. But be careful.” he warned her with a sort of urgency in his tone. Samuel shifted his weight between his feet and stood up a little straighter. His throat cleared. “Well I can’t imagine you do being as dead as you were for so long. Long story short, there’s a war brewing and this town is going to be the epicenter of it all.” Probably wasn’t what she was expecting from him.

There’s a voice inside of him that told him to shut up but he defied it once more.

She watched the man carefully and was shocked when she realized he knew she died. What was he? “How did you know? I mean is there something on me?” She asked looking over herself. Was there a sign on her like dead girl walking right here?

“What do you mean a war? Whose fighting?” She asked the confusion clear in her voice and she glanced over the street confusion in her voice.

“You and I both.” He attempted to explain frustrated by the mere way she reminded him of something long since dead in himself, he wondered if this was his fathers doing…it would certainly make sense. “Siblings are rather complicated; here when you do not need then and gone when you do…-I have a few myself though we are on less than friendly terms.”Amusing at best, mostly because it was far more complicated than just not being on good terms but he wasn’t foolishly going to explain that to anyone, let alone her.

“Lu…-Luke..” he stared at the offered hand as if it were something so monstrous before finally taking it and giving it a shake. He still wasn’t used to people.

She couldn’t imagine many family situations more complicated then her own. After all her sister did kill her but she decided not to say anything, after all she imagined that wouldn’t be a great icebreaker. “I hope you are able to work things out with your family.” She said honestly. “But if not then I hope you have friends who can support you. Though I am an awesome listener if you ever need to vent.” She offered.

“It’s nice to meet you look.” She said as she shook his hand. She had always been a handshaker, apparently that hadn’t changed in 20 years.

Just feeling her sister’s touch caused the breath the catch in her throat. Her beating heart echoed in her ears. It made it feel as if the world had muted and there was nothing else she could focus on now. Her sisters words met her ears pleadingly and she forced herself to breathe correctly once more. It was hard to do considering even her lungs threatened to give out.

She risked the breakdown. Both would probably head that route but she needed it. Hayley was selfish as she pulled her sister into a tight hug; as tight as she could anyways without hurting her. It was her warmth that soothed her the most. Her warmth had been missing for so damn long. Stolen from the world by Hayley’s drunken actions. The hybrid never forgave herself. She knew she never truly could when she was the reason Adalind Marshall was dead.

As soon as Hayley’s arms wrapped around her she knew she would be okay. For the first time in 20 years she wasn’t alone. She held onto her sister for dear life and finally allowed herself to cry in the first time in years. When she first died, she cried nearly every day, begged for Hayley to be able to hear her. When she gave up hope all those years ago she stopped crying. After all what was the point when the only person who could hear you was yourself?

There in her sisters arms she let herself sob clinging to her sister for dear life. “Please don’t leave me.” She begged not caring that she was practically breaking down in the middle of the street.

Space cadet. It was a simple term. Amara hadn’t known it until she heard a couple of girls chuckling, pointing and whispering it. So, she took out the gadget Hayley had been showing her how to use and she asked it. The small screen changed colors and then there were words on it. noun a trainee astronaut.an enthusiast for space travel, typically a young person. That… wasn’t her, by any means. So she kept reading. INFORMAL a person perceived as out of touch with reality, as though high on drugs. Not high on drugs, not ever, but out of touch with reality… yes, that was very much her. She would guess it was meant as an insult as well. So, she straightened her shoulders unwilling to look back at them and attempted walking with purpose.

Only for a young blonde girl to barrel into her. It was the first time since her resurrection a bump hadn’t been her fault which only briefly felt nice because now the girl seemed guilty. She didn’t like to see that as she knew the feeling so well. “Oh no, I am fine.” She exclaimed hoping to quell her worries. “It was a honest mistake. Are you alright?” Looking over the girl she could see there was something a bit off about her.

Adalind looked at the pretty brunette and smiled in relief, she seemed nice compared especially to the group of girls near by. As she heard their giggled and taunts now direct to the two it truly felt like she was alive again, after all these sort of girls were normal for her back in high school. They certainly weren’t something she missed about being alive.

“I’m fine thank you so much.” She asked smiling slightly. “Just not from anywhere around here and getting used to it is all.” She said simply before glancing at the other girls again. “I’m sorry do you need someone to walk with? Company can be nice on a walk.” She said not wanting either to be thrown to the wolves. Two is better then one right?
