“i’m not saying this is beginning to be an issue… but this is beginning to be an issue.” she stated as she flopped down onto the couch beside the older male, her school bag thrown onto the chair on the other side of the room, completely disregarded as she turned on her phone to show the other her lockscreen, a photo that the pair had taken together no less then a week ago. “someone in my class asked me if you were my younger brother and if i could hook her up with you. now, there are two things wrong with what she said — one: ew. and two: do you really look younger than me ? am i really aging that fast ? this is just unfair. it’s completely unjust. the universe is out to get me.” she was kidding, of course she was. but in all honesty, the amount of people that assumed she was at least twenty two years old was beginning to get on her nerves. “how am i going to pat all the dogs in the world if the universe wants me to look sixty before i even turn thirty ? ”

the boy could feel an annoyed sigh coming up again, knowing exactly where this was leading. if there was anything his little sister loved to do it was rub in the fact that she claimed she looked older than yeol. ‘ is she legal ? ’ the older of the two couldn’t stop himself from asking, a grin apparent on his face. ‘ i’m more than willing to downplay my age a little bit, ’ he continued, before raising his voice an octave ‘ i’ll be oh junyeol, the high school student who’s never seen a bare chest in his entire life. ’ he allowed his arm to wrap around the younger girl as he laughed and stretched himself. ‘ i honestly do not think you look older than me, ’ he closed his face in on hers, pretending to go over every inch of her skin, ‘ though now that you mention it i do think you have a few wrinkles here - and i totally thought i found a grey hair in the bathroom the other day, and lets just say it was too long to be mine. ’ yeol gave his sister an encouraging pat on the shoulder, ‘ puppies love old ladies, why else do you think things such as cat ladies and dog ladies exist ? ’

a hum escaped from his lips as the girl’s nails scratched over his scalp, it felt like their own little paradise - their personal slice of heaven, but junyeol knew unlike any other that when you were still alive and well heaven never lasted very long, just another cruel invention made by god to make you envy all that he had. ‘ i could never, princess. ’ he smiled into their kiss, another rarity, if this was the opposite of feeling numb he could get used to it, ‘ your ass would be of no good, no more late night booty calls ‘nd smoking spliffs. ’ a sarcastic laugh left his mouth ‘ survival ? who cares about survival. all surviving means is dying slower than those around you, is that really what you want ? ’

Sunny was hanging out in one of her favourite cafés when someone tapped her on the shoulder, a familiar voice ringing out. Surprise was evident on her face at the sight of her ex-boyfriend, her eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. He was still as handsome as ever, and memories of their last meeting flashed through her mind. The last time she had seen him he had broken up with her, leaving her a complete mess by the Han River. She had gotten over it by now, but her heart still clenched at the sight of him. After all she had fallen hard for him and believed he had loved her too, but he had made it clear that wasn’t the case. “Oh, Junyeol…” she said, her voice not as chipper as it usually was. “Hey. Have a seat.” She gestured to the empty seat in front of her with a small smile. “Yeah, it has been a while… How have you been?”

looking at her all yeol could see was tears streaming down her beautiful face as he managed to shatter her heart to piece with just a few words. he hadn’t cared at the time, had a new girl to waste his time on, a new pretty face to ruin, a new heart to break, another hope at filling the gaping void in his heart. he never really thought about sunny, about what he had done to her, or about what he had done to the hundreds of girls before and after her but he hadn’t faced any of them since, sunny was a first and frankly he had expected everything but the girl asking him to join him - he had expected getting slapped and yelled at, but then again sunny had never been like that. ‘ thanks.. ’ he muttered, taking a seat across the girl, ‘ it has been, yes. i’ve been alright, not better nor worse since we last saw each other. ’ the truth was that he had gotten worse but she didn’t need to know that. ‘ how about you my dear ? how have you been ? ’

the sight of him pulling his jacket up to cover the lower part of his face had sasithorn frowning as she rubbed her bare legs together, she should have known a pair of shorts wasn’t going to protect her from the freezing winter winds but then again, she hadn’t exactly planned to stay out for this long. a short walk had turned into a six hour long stargazing session and now she was all but freezing thanks to her constant homesickness. mismatched eyes would focus on the cut on the pale skin of his cheek for a brief second before she looked away, pulling the sleeves of her sweater down over her tanned hands as a shiver momentarily rocked her body. “i guess it does.” she replied gently, accented voice but a whisper before she sighed, falling silent so that she could listen to him. her home was in the other direction, no where near his place and if she walked him home, it would take her a good hour and a bit to get home. sasithorn didn’t know seoul like the back of her hand like she did bangkok and part of her was beginning to regret offering to walk her home, she knew she could handle herself if anything happened, her father had made sure of that, but that didn’t stop her from feeling slightly anxious about walking home. “well i’m not gonna make you find your way home on your own so…” she shrugged. “come on, i’ll walk you home.”

there was a nervous tremor running through the boy as he looked down at the ground, it was weird being in this position - running away from people always left him feeling somewhat powerful, because he would be the one in control of his future, of who he had in his life and who wasn’t. but when sasithorn had removed herself from his life without any sort of indication she would be doing do it was safe to say he was shocked, it was like a slap in his face and he could finally understand how all those people had felt, how sunny had felt, how hana had felt, how everyone he ever left hanging felt and looking her in the eyes right now was a painful reminder and he didn’t know how to act around her. a weird kind of rejection washed over him, there had been a lot of unspoken feeling between the pair of them but yeol didn’t feel safe enough to bring it up, plus he had hyunmi now - at least he didn’t have to act like someone he wasn’t when he was around her. ‘ you don’t have to walk all the way with me, just until i get somewhere i recognize.. ’ he felt bad, knowing the girl lived so far away from him, that is if she still lived where he recalled her to, but to invite her into his home and stay the night would be a reach. ‘ thanks. ’

‘ i’m quite certain you do, yes. ’ the words left his lips as a hum, as he continued to tower over the girl. he took moments like this as they were, you had to when things were always on the edge of exploding. whatever it was between him and hyunmi was a storm, it was wild and destructive and perhaps that was why he craved for it as much as he did. she was just as broken as he was and he found comfort in it. ‘ not everyone can be as fit as you, all the stealing and running from the cops keeps you skinny like no other. ’

the night had been difficult and a blur for her. she’d passed out in a bathroom, woken up in yeol’s arms and then transferred to taeil’s where she’d ended up passing out for the duration of the night. she remembered her head feeling heavy and her eyes refusing to open. occasionally her brown hues did open, taking in the private hospital room she was currently residing in and the doctors fussing over her weak body. the beeping of the hospital machines was the only sound now, taeil’s own voice and her whimpering having stopped long ago. he’d gone to grab her some food, that was what the note had said when she’d woken up. hana had suffered from her nightmares again, her face was pale from what she’d endured and the thoughts that were continuing to haunt her. “come in,” she called out softly, hoping that her quiet voice would be able to be heard. “yeol,” hana breathed out, a small furrow between her eyebrows forming. “what are you doing here?”

knowing the girl’s past yeol couldn’t keep himself from thinking the worst, and he felt a pang of guilt shoot through his chest because he was a part of that past - he had hurt her just as much as the rest and had taken advantage of her just as much as all those evil people. he took a note, remembering himself to add that on the list of reasons why he hated himself for the second time, he had caused the girl so much more pain  than she needed to be in. ‘ hey.. ’ his voice came out muttered and soft, figured that the combination of the drugs last night and the hospital drugs would have probably given her a headache he was all too familiar with. ‘ just wanted to check how you were doing, taeil kind of ripped you from my arms and left me standing there last night - which i get but i .. ’ his voice trailed off, hand pushing a way through his hair nervously, ‘ i wanted to see if you were all right, you looked like you were going through hell. ’

to say junyeol had expected to ever see sunny again would be a lie - he had left her standing by the side of the han river and if he had remembered correctly she had tears running down her face, he never regret it - he didn’t really think about her or about them much after it but there had always been a part of him that wished he had cared about hurting her, or had cared about her in general. leaving her had been so effortlessly easy, it shouldn’t be that way. so it was safe to say that seeing her in the coffee shop he was casually lounging in shook him up, her face was still pretty and she looked exactly the same as she had done the day he left, except there were no tears streaming down her face and her hair colour had changed. despite knowing better he couldn’t help himself and reached out, tapping on her shoulder - ‘ sunny .. it’s been a while. ’

worry had been filling the boy’s head ever since last night, having found a limp body of the petite girl he had screwed over one too many times lying in the bathroom in some sketchy place junyeol knew the girl wouldn’t go to any more - not since the tape anyways. his motives of being there had been perhaps even sketchier than the place itself but he needed his fix - his desperation however disappeared when he found hana’s body and all that filled his thoughts was getting the girl safe. now that he was wandering somewhere he really did not want to be, uv lights blinking, staring down at the boy as he shuffled his way through, trying to find her room. 212, the door was closed so there was no possible way of checking, nowadays it wouldn’t be surprising had he forgotten, or misunderstood. his fist met the door frame, knocking softly, ‘ hana ? ’

“the han river.” she answered softly, staring down at the water beneath the bridge before she looked over at him, trying her best to ignore the way her gut clenched whenever she looked at him. “you must be pretty out of it to not recognize it…” the younger dancer observed, unable to stop the worry that coated her voice as she crossed her arms against her chest as she looked at his familiar face. she was glad she’d gotten out of that life once the people she’d been hanging around had attempted to force their habits on her, had tried to get her to attempt to risk her career, she could see what those sorts of things did to people… what they did to junyeol. she hated seeing what it did but she didn’t say anything. she never did. who was she to tell people how to live their lives anyway ? “you’re pretty far from home but you know… i can walk you home, if you need help.” she could help him… just one more time. just once more and then she would never see him again. that much she could do. “i mean, if you want me to.”

‘ right .. the han river. ’ his answer came out muffled as he pulled up his jacket to cover his mouth, the cold finally hitting his skin. there was still a bruise formed around the cut on his cheek, from where taeil’s fist had met his milky skin at the winter fair - he could feel her eyes lingering, and he knew it probably brought up more  negative than positive emotions. ‘ s’pose i am, yea. never really get here at night, looks different. ’ he lied, if he had to believe his friend’s stories he was here at least twice a week - but he was never able to recall the crazy stories they spoke of, he should probably work on that, but then again he had been telling himself that for a while now yet nothing ever happened. ‘ i do, don’t i ? ’ a hand came up to adjust his fringe,  a huff left his rose coloured lips, ‘ i think i uh .. yeah i’d like that. or well, i don’t really know how the fuck i’d get home if you didn’t uh.. help. ’
