WIP // I <3 @tokidokibrand and the sims so I decided to make a simified version of tokidoki @barbie circa 2011. I'm working on her shirt and skirt atm, but will hopefully be able to make most of her outfit, accessories and tattoos, as well! The graphics are my own #fanart phone doodles. It's a little more of a sketch look than the actual tokidoki heart + crossbones, but I kinda like it.

Of Life and Pixels // Spring and Summer Tee Collection

I'm excited to share my first CC project for the Sims 4! It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here. I wanted to start simple for my debut TS4 CC collection, so this seemed like the perfect project.

Have you ever wished that there were more swatches for this BG tee? Same! So I decided to make some for the spring/summer season. I've found myself always using the same few swatches, time and again. I decided to make some pretty spring colours and neutrals, as well as, some cool summer pattern swatches (which were really fun to paint lol. The first group are tie-dye and the second are something like Ikat design).

I used to create CC for ts2, but I've taken a really long hiatus (obviously, lol). I'm excited to be creating again and learning new things. The ts2 CC that I made was more Alpha because that was how I learned, but I decided to lean more toward Maxis Match this time around - digitally hand painting the textures, etc.

Being an 80s/90s kid, I found the clothing styles kind of ew for most of my life... but now that I'm older, some sort of weird 80s nostalgia has taken hold in the last few years. I guess that's what happens when you get old? Idk lol.

2021 has been an even more difficult year for me, personally, than 2020. I have dealt with injury and recovery - all on top of existing disability. I'm not saying that to complain or garner sympathy, but simply to explain why there have been more delays to my website, creative endeavours, etc.

I've recently been able to return to playing the Sims, which has been a refreshing relief in this dreary year. I have missed it, immensely. It's always been a happy place and special interest of mine. I decided to start out just playing Vanilla, since I felt that would be less overwhelming right now. I love CC, obviously, but I'll return to that in time. In the meantime, I've been happily building, creating sims and playing.

This is the first creative thing I've done outside of the game since being back. I hope you enjoy! The lookbook should be posted soon, I'm just a little slow with my process these days. Keep calm and Sim on!

I Play the Sims because...

At 13, I remember shopping in Staples with my mom and seeing the cover of The Sims, reading it over, looking at the flat, digital pixel-people and thinking, "This is the game for me." And it was. I absolutely loved the Sims.

Later, the Sims 2 inspired my creativity. The addition of genetics, endearing animations, new gameplay, better building, and intriguing relationships - it was perfection. The TS2 era was also when I began creating CC and even learned web design in order to create a fansite! I've continued playing through TS3 and TS4 and still love this franchise that has given me a creative outlet, a happy place, the ability to share stories and to learn some RL skills along the way. It's been a great 20 with these fascinating pixel-people called the Sims.
