A Quiet Place (2018) dir. John Krasinski
She read books as one would breathe air, to fill up and live.
The Living, Annie Dillard (b. 30 April 1945)
that’s perdita dalton walking down the street, the forty year old, who looks like emily blunt. here in apple peak, she works as an english teacher at apple peak high. some say she acts like perdita from 101 dalmatians, since she can be well-mannered & elegant, but also a little bit over-protective & stern.
hello here is local supermom perdita dalton, please love her ( pregnancy & kidnapping tw )
penelope.
“i don’t think i need any new clothes, do i?” she almost whined as she lay back into the bed, watching her mother dart around the room. penny was perfectly content with the quality of her wardrobe ( despite a few blouses fitting a little too small for comfort ) but she did love the idea of spending a few hours with her mom. “i still have a few of the shirts you’ve passed down… also – shirts i never returned to patrick but i doubt he’d miss them in the first place!” ever since moving out and living on the other side of time, home visits were a blessing, a time for her to fully relax and unload in the comfort of her own home surrounded by people she trusts. hugging a pillow closer to her chest and resting her chin on it, she mused “could we have lunch home first? as much as i love cooking with dae, i do miss the way you do it.” she found herself missing her friend but longing for the taste of a home cooked meal.
“you’re a woman now. a professional. you need nice shirts and dresses for interviews and internships,” perdita said as she pulled out an old dress from her daughter’s closet and ran her fingers down it, smoothing it out as she took a look at it. “besides, wouldn’t it be nice to go shopping with your poor old mother?” she said dramatically, pouting her lip slightly. “it will be just like when you were younger and we get buy you new clothes for school.” she hung the dress back up in the closet and pulled the doors closed. it was hard for her to see her children growing so quickly and leaving the nest. she supposed it was rather cliche, it was all you ever heard mother’s talk about, but now that her first born were old enough to be out on their own it was all she could think about herself. she smiled though as penny asked for a home cooked meal. it tugged at her heart a little bit and she jumped at the chance to take care of her eldest daughter. “of course, what would you like?”
christopher.
Kit did not expect the small child to attack him, engulfing him in a bear hug. Instinctively, he hugged back, though he wrinkled his nose. He was not good with children, though he supposed the flower crown on his head hardly made him look intimidating. “Um, nice to see you too, small person… Have we met?” He quickly looked around. “Anyone know where this kid belongs?”
events like the flower & garden festival were designed for children, they were covered in fun treats and activities for them. but in some ways, they were the worst place to bring them- so many distractions and easy ways to lose them. perdita refused to take her eyes off of her littlest one for a second. but of course- that was nearly impossible. as she handed over a few dollars to pay for their snack, her daughter had run off into the arms of a stranger and perdita quickly came barreling after her.
“oh my goodness- i’m so sorry,” she said, grabbing her daughters arm. “darling no, we talked about this. you need to stay by mummy.” she crouched down, looking her in the eye. “my apologies sir, i hope she didn’t get in your way.”
rozaline.
“of course!” rozaline smiled at perdita and her daughter, grabbing her paints getting lower to be on the child’s level. “see, i have all sorts of colors, and we can do pretty much whatever you’d like. i like the flowers myself,” she turned her face a bit so the little girl could get a look at the purple and yellow flowers that roz had painted on her own face earlier that day. “but we can do fairy type looks, maybe a crown, all kinds of things! and maybe,” roz whispered to the little girl, loud enough to where perdita could hear, “if you ask your momma really nicely, maybe she’ll get matching paint with you?”
the mother smiled softly, watching as the artist showed off all the colors to her. “oh wow, isn’t that pretty darling?” she asked as they got a better look at the paint roz was wearing. “she’s very talented, isn’t she?” she put a hand on her daughter’s shoulder. “go ahead and pick whatever you’d like.” it was nice to have town events like this she could bring the kids too, she was very grateful for all the people who made it possible. “oh, that would be quite silly wouldn’t it?” she laughed, blushing a little as she brought her hand up to her nose. “maybe,” she added with a giggle.
rozaline.
“well, hey there you,” rozaline smiled as the person sat down, causing the flowers that she had painted on the sides of her face to scrunch up briefly. with a small detailing brush in her perpetually paint-stained hands, she gestured towards the other’s face. “what are you thinking for this today?”
perdita squatted down to be level with the toddler as they sat on the chair in front of the artist. “what would you like, the flowers?” she asked her daughter, pointing at the sample designs. “i bet you can pick whatever colors you’d like.” she looked up at the blonde with a smile, “is that alright?”
