it took levi less than fifteen minutes to get to the diner where she'd been stood up . sliding himself into the booth across from her , his fingers found her chin and offered her a pitiful smile . “ hey , come on ... don't look so disappointed . ” she looked like an injured puppy , and it made his heart pang .

“ let me make it up to you , okay ? ” his words were soft , levi wasn't usually this gentle with people but she brought it out of him effortlessly . “ we can get ice cream , watch some stupid romantic comedy of your choice , and you can sleep over ... yeah ? ”

the feeling of levis fingers on her chin ripped her out of her dark cloud of thoughts. his words didn't quite make it all the way to her brain, but she manage a weak half-smile. thankfully, his next words made it to her brain fast, a wide smile growing on her lips as her eyes widened in excitement. she slowly nodded, "what kinda ice cream flavour are we getting? ---and by the way," she stopped to sigh, her smile deflating, "thanks for ..coming, levi. i, i didn't know how to..," she trailed off with a lazy shrug.
