“Remind me to never ask you to cook for me.” He teased as he ruffled her hair playfully knowing it would annoy her. “I think I’d rather take my chances with starving.”
The brunette looked at the male before rolling her eyes. “I wouldn’t cook for you anyway.” Hazel told him as she swatted his hand away. “I’ve seen the way you eat, there’s no way you could let yourself go hungry.”
Hazel stood back as the other used their magic to put out the fire. Once it was out she gave them a guilty smile. “Thank you again, and I’m sorry about that. I’ve never actually cooked before and I just wanted to be able to do something around here so I thought I’d give it ago I just never imagined it would lead to this.”

“Nine? Really?” He couldn’t help the shocked look that crossed his face at hearing the time that she woke up. With all things considered, it wasn’t exactly like she slept the day away but in comparison to his time of day that he arose, it was a bit of a difference. “I just uh, lost someone that was close to me.” He replied sadly.
Hazel found herself biting down on her lip to try and contain her grin while also suppressing her laughter. “It’s not that late, is it? I guess it’s because I always used to get up so early, I’m catching up on those missed hours of sleep.” Another laugh slipped past her lips. “So, what time do you normally get up?” She asked curiously. The smile soon dropped from her face at the male’s reply. The young squib didn’t know what it was like to have a friend die. She’d never had a friend before, not before Reg anyway. She guessed she was lucky to have not experienced such pain. The brunette found herself thinking back to the night of the attack and how she’d watched the male who’d hurt her kill the female accompanying her right in front of her eyes. It was horrible. She’d been so traumatised and she hardly knew the girl. God only knows how the male was feeling. “I’m sorry. I can only imagine how hard that must be.”

“They definitely are something. They seem so much brighter here, the sky clearer.” He agreed with a smile, which soon turned to laughter as she finished her sentence. “Not one for mornings, huh?” He teased with a smirk, glancing back at her. A smile didn’t seem to stay on his face for long though as he contemplated her question. “No, I guess not.”
The brunette gave him a smile as she fell silent again not really knowing to say, she had no other knowledge of the stars to compare - this place was the first time she actually had the chance to look at them in person. She shook her head, joining in with his laughter. “No, I don’t rise until about nine.” She gave another chuckle, though the smile soon fell from her face. “Did you want to talk about it?”
theocoyne:
Hearing her laugh only caused his own smile to grow bigger, glad to see a smile on her face rather than the previous sadness that lingered in her eyes. He couldn’t help but think that she had a pretty smile as his eyes softened from the usual straight-faced look he wore. “Can’t say I blame you, it’s better than being kept in a stuffy room all day. It’s more peaceful out here.” He agreed, letting out a sigh and glancing up at the sky. “Me? Oh, I just needed to get out for a bit.” Honestly, he was still finding normality difficult since he’d learnt of his friend’s death.
Hazel nodded agreeing with the male. “Definitely. I could just watch the starts all night.” She mused with a smile. “I’m still yet to catch the sunrise.” The young squib admitted biting down on her lip as she pictured what it would look like in her mind. She’d never been outside long enough before to see it, and now she was finally free and able to go outside whenever she wanted well, she always found herself oversleeping - but she was determined to see if eventually. Hazel nodded, not wanting to push him into telling her why. “Has it helped?”
“It’s a bad habit of mine to say “I’m sorry” as a reaction to everything. It comes out whenever I’m sad, scared, or confused, even when I’m the one getting hurt.”

Theo gasped playfully as he heard her voice, a smile pulled at his lips as he watched her. “So she talks.” His words were only teasing, an attempt to get a smile from her. “How come you’re out here all on your own?”
A light laugh fell from her lips at the male’s reaction to her finally speaking.”Occasionally.” She replied with a small smile. The brunette gave a shrug. “I like being outside.” It probably had something to do with all those years she’d spent trapped inside, she wanted to make the most of her freedom in case it was snapped from her grasp again. It didn’t really explain why she was alone, but she wasn’t about to tell the male she hardly had any friends to accompany her. She was used to her own company anyway. “What about you?”
theocoyne:
“You sure you’re okay? I didn’t mean to nearly send you flying.”
She gave another nod before forcing a small smile. “Yeah I’m fine thank you. It’s fine, you didn’t do it on a purpose.”

“Whoa, sorry I didn’t see you there. Are you okay?”

Hazel looked up at the male who had bumped into her wide eyed. She had always been quiet but ever since the attack she was even more so. The brunette had also struggled being around strangers due to her anxiety getting the better of her which explained her current silence. She stepped back away from the male before giving a meek nod while tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
bringinreggieblack:
Regulus didn’t know what to say, he didn’t know how he could talk her down or make her feel better. Reaching over, the male pulled her into a gentle embrace. “Shh, it’s okay.. You’re okay now. You’re safe - I’m not going to let anything else happen to you, alright?” He rubbed her back gently before pulling back and keeping his hands resting on her shoulders, keeping her at arms length as he peered into her eyes. “I know it’s going to hurt to think about it.. But I need you to tell me everything you remember about him.” Regulus spoke, his jaw tensing slightly.
Hazel clung onto the male, burying her head in his chest as she continued to cry. She found comfort in the male’s words, believing in that moment he’d protect her if they were threatened with any danger. Looking at him she sniffed back tears, and nodded. “He was a tiny bit shorter than you, with black hair...He looked older than us but not old, I don’t know early twenties maybe? I’m sorry, I’m really bad at this. I can just remember his smile -- he was enjoying it.” She trailed off beginning to cry again.
bringinreggieblack:
Regulus noticed a tear slip from the girl’s eye and quickly moved around the table, quicker than he should have in his condition. He sat in the seat beside her and took her hand in his. “Hazel.. Tell me what happened.” He spoke softly.
As soon as the male rushed over to her and grabbed her hand, the young squib began sobbing, using her free hand to cover her face. “H-He attacked me, and I don’t know why. I-I don’t know what I d-did wrong.” She stated hiccuping through tears. “H-He killed the girl that was trying to h-help me and then he wanted me to use the wand--” Hazel paused as a few more sobs left her mouth at the memory. “I-I couldn’t and then he did something and ... I’ve never felt so much pain Reg, not even back at home.” The brunette sniffled not even realising her mistake by mentioning the treatment she received back at home. “I couldn’t breath, and he was just laughing.”
bringinreggieblack:
“Yeah, I’m good.. Just got into a bad situation during but I’ll be fine.” Regulus offered her a gentle, reassuring smile and leaned over the table, brows furrowing as he peered toward the girl. “They didn’t get to you.. Did they?” The male questioned her, worry lacing his features.
“Well, I’m glad that you’re okay now.” And she truly was, the female hadn’t found it easy to make friends during her time in the town but Regulus had made an effort with her despite her cluelessness to the world around her.The brunette found the memory of her attack entering her mind as the male’s question. She shook her head, not trusting her voice to hold up her lie, not that it mattered she was pretty sure the stray tear that had escaped down her face had ratted her out. Hazel wiped it away angrily feeling silly for crying in front of the male.
muggledelarose:
“I mean, I can’t say for definite, having never tried it myself but I’ve heard that sometimes it helps if you talk about it?” Wren looked sheepish at the girl as she shrugged her shoulders. “We haven’t. In fact I don’t think I’ve met any of you. Wren. My name, that is.”
“I wouldn’t even know what to say.” She gave a shrug, shaking her head defeated. “Oh... Are you new here too? Hazel.”
muggledelarose:
“I— uh… Can I help?” Even Wren could hear the uncertainty in her own voice. It wasn’t often she found herself offering to help others.
The brunette tried to give the blonde a grateful smile but it came more out like a grimace. She shook her head. “Thank you though.” Hazel cleared her throat. “I, erm, I don’t think we’ve met...”
bringinreggieblack:
“Ah, it’s nothing.. Don’t worry about me.” Regulus shrugged his shoulders then peered toward her, brows furrowed. “I- I tried to find you when it all began. Did uh- Did you end up somewhere safe?” He questioned, hoping that the answer was yes.
“You sure?” She asked concerned. Hazel gave him a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. The young squib nodded, she didn’t know what made her lie to the male - whether it was because she didn’t want him to worry and feel guilty or whether it was because she was embarrassed.
