There it was, close range, seemingly easy to kill – the goose was a rare sighting, as most animals were DEAD now, so Anna was lucky to have hit the jackpot with this one. It was plump, and clearly an adult – probably could feed about four people, at the very least.
She had only a knife, but she figured it couldn’t be hard. All she had to do was sneak up behind it and kill it before it even could react. So, she set her plan in motion, creeping up quietly behind the animal when – SNAP! A twig under her foot gave the noise that alarmed the goose, who, instead of fleeing, decided to go after Anna, and quite successfully gave her a BLACK EYE before it ran off.
The little attack left Anna humiliated, and as she shamefully made her way back to the group, she tried desperately to think of a tougher reason as to why she had this black eye. Alas, she could think of none – if she said a group attacked her, everyone would be freaked, and they wouldn’t believe she ran into a tree. And so, she came back to her group with nothing but that story to tell, and she wasn’t going to be very open about it.
“ Nothing – It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it. ”
