He stands, having just finished replacing one of the car’s front tires, and allows her to end the song. He’s trying not to make it too obvious he’s cringing.

          “Seize life n’ run, huh? Well this beauty’s all ready to go now,” he announces, patting the hood. “Could take you for a spin, I s’pose.”

‘No, Nux. Sorry, pet, I’m not going to stop.’

“Well you’re makin’ quite a racket,” Nux replied, unable to keep from cracking a smile afterwards.           The War Boys had tried and failed so many times before to shut her up, telling her so was almost a joke now.

          “What’s that you’re singing this time anyways? Hadn’t heard it yet.”

“If it was up to the Organic it’d be nether. Just another body in his lair.” she frowned. “But I prefer War Boy to be honest. I don’t want no special treatment.” she smiled and leaned a little closer to him. “I dream of being a driver.” she confessed. “Don’t think I’ll ever get the chance but… girl’s gotta have hope right?”

“War Boy it is then,” Nux said with a nod.

Her confession confused him, however, and he tilted his head to the side. He never once had he thought he couldn’t make it to be a Driver, so he never saw why anyone else should.                     “Why d’you think you’ll never get a chance? You’re a hard worker. Least ‘ya look it to me.”
