MATILDA JONES. 28. CIS WOMAN. SHE/HER is here! They’ve lived in Cascade for 7 YEARS and currently reside in MERCURY FLATS. TILLY is a WAITRESS at THE SUNRISE DINER and frequently hears that they look a lot like ZARIA SIMONE. Funny, huh? If ever caught by Letterboxd, they’d say VOICEMAILS FOR ISABELLE is in their Top 4 and the theme song to their life’s soundtrack would be HONEYBEE by OLIVIA RODRIGO.
tw: death.
sweet tilly.
so many dreams in that pretty little head of yours, and you had such a bright future did you not? oh, i remember your mother, a girl who left cascade in the pursuit of her own dreams. talent just burst out the seams from her, she could sing, dance, act, and had such an infectious laugh every was immediately charmed by her. so it truly didn't take long for her to find herself getting roles on broadway. it started as ensemble but little by little she worked her way up to main cast member, and the way her voice carried, and how each and every performance earned her standing ovations. oh tilly, she was such a delight.
after all, it didn't take long for a man to notice her, one who worked in the same field as her, not a star, a producer if i remember? he quickly swept her off her and feet, and then almost in the blink of an eye, you were here. you were the apple of your mother's eye, but your father, if one could even call him that was a man of many secrets, one being that you were no more than the child of an affair. so the second you came into the world he vanished without trace, and your mother was left to pick up the pieces. even heartbroken, she loved you so, i could see it in the way she looked at you, and with the support of all those who adored her, you grew up pretty much backstage.
let's not forget that one time you were two years old and ran onto the stage during a performance, began singing your little heart out along with your mom, and the crowd cheered and laughed, and as your mother picked you up and spun you around to sing with you, she saw that same spark in you that she saw in the mirror. you were her little star. so you were put into singing and ballet lessons, and you loved every second of it. you were spoiled with so much love, but never rotten. you started working with your mother on stage as you grew, but you started seeing signs of the way she wasn't as vibrant as she used to be, and how multiple jobs, on top of performing were beginning to tax on her health.
it was all a blur wasn't it, how one second you were graduating high school, going to alvin ailey, whilst taking some classes at julliard and then you got the call. your life had never been the same, and as much as you tried to continue your studies, you couldn't see the stage the same again, and you feared losing that connection to her, so you packed your bags, and headed off to where it all started, the place where your mother grew up. home.
now tell me, how has life been since then? i know there's been financial struggles, and now you're doing the same thing as your mother once did, taking up a bunch of jobs just to keep your head above the water, but sweet girl, please don't forget to take care of yourself.
