i took these pictures in my living room earlier to illustrate that you can be into comics, examine them critically, understand their history in context of politics, etc. and still never, ever hijack other peoples’ normal conversations about their real lifes and feelings by talking about this shit. like, i’ve never talked to a holocaust survivor and been like, ‘lol steve rogers would’ve punched that guy’ or anything. i’ve never reblogged someone’s post about their life and been like, ‘imagine my favorite tv character saying this to the other tv character i like to imagine them being in a relationship with’

like... you don’t have to Grow Up to grow the fuck up and learn to relate to other adults and strangers without trying to make them part of your stunted fan fiction multiverse. it isn’t ableist for someone to point out that you are being rude and childish.

ngl really starting to hate this trend of someone making connections between fiction and reality, esp between heavily political media and irl politics (y'know like steve rogers, The Guy Who Punches Hitler), and someone else being super dismissive and shitty abt it and acting like they’re being obtuse and ridiculous for making connections like that. even if theyre jokes like this post it’s still wild to me that apparently its illegal to go “hey like in the comic” as if those themes aren’t in the comics to make people recognize them in real life
