Dispatch x burned!reader

Just a train of thought blurb on a burn-survivor reader with Robert in the events of and leading up to the game. Feel free to steal this idea. I couldn’t find anything similar but if I accidentally stole this please share in the comments. Also I hope this doesn’t come off as insensitive. Enjoy!

Imagine you used to work with Robert when he was Mechaman, before the fight with Shroud, before he joined SDN. Powered or not, you were close enough that you knew Robert Robertson III was the man in the mech suit, maybe your parents were close.

Flash forward to the flaming ruins of the shopping center, you and Mechaman are trying to put Flambae down before the whole structure fails. No more civilians left to save inside, just Flambae to take care of. You make a bad call, misjudge something, Flambae lights you up, whatever suit you’re wearing wasn’t fireproof, and the left side of your body- from your left thigh, left side of your torso, left arm, and up the left side of your neck- critical burns. After Robert takes down Flambae (and a few of his fingers), he’s got you in the best medical care he can get.

Flambae’s intention with his attack was to kill you, in all honesty. Luckily for you and Robert, it didn’t. The brunt of the damage was second and third degree burns, that could be worked with. After a few skin grafts to the more critical areas, and weeks of supervised healing, you were finally discharged with your own set of compression garments to help heal the burn scars. You had a few sets of white and black garments that you usually layered under a tee and pants, and at least one that covered your neck like a turtleneck. (Layering an oversized tee over a tighter long sleeve is pretty common where I’m from at least) They were rough to get used to in the common California heat, but get used to them you did.

Whatever hero work you were doing with Robert came to a halt while you focused on healing. You had regular PT to help with the loss of range of motion with the damaged skin, and the underlying nerve damage. When Robert wasn’t out in the suit, he was with you in your shared apartment. You both celebrated when you took Beef on your first full length walk without major pain or difficulty. The road to recovery was slow but the time would pass regardless, you wanted to make the most of it.

Another flash forward, you don’t feel ready to go back in the field for hero work, but you get approached by SDN for dispatching, and you’ve got a new job. Shroud escapes prison, Robert goes after him, the suit is destroyed and he falls a few hundred feet straight into a medically-induced coma to heal the damage. Now it’s your turn to be there for him as he heals. You can’t decide if it’s better or worse with him being unconscious, you try not to focus on that. You keep up with the rent on your shared apartment, you take care of Beef (occasionally calling Chase for some assistance), and if you aren’t at SDN, you’re at his bedside. You tried to get your hands on the remains of his suit, but higher ups wouldn’t release them to you. You give Robert a quick haircut when you notice his hair getting longer than he usually wore it.

You’re working a long dispatching shift when Robert gets out of the hospital. He thinks he remembers the distant sound of some old books, with your voice (you had been reading to him). He see’s the note you left him for if he woke up without you, and he’s loathe to realize you’ve been so worried and taking care of his life when he’s been out of commission. He puts his flight suit back on and tries to do his job, only to be rescued by Blonde Blazer. He was agreeable to soothe his temper with a drink (contributing to accidental bodily harm to Flambae only made it better), and he eventually stumbled back to his your shared apartment. The reunion isn’t what you expected but you were grateful for his awakening nonetheless. He spends some time on his suit, but without the astral pulse he’s at a dead end. You tried to get him to bed but you both knew he would be sick of sleep for a while.

When Robert agreed to the SDN job, he genuinely forgot that’s where you were working. He had five seconds of confusion, followed by the admission his forgot (he didn’t like to think about the coma, how it made him weak, but he did play the coma-card for this). He learned you were a dispatcher for another team of heroes. Blonde Blazer hadn’t initially planned to get you to work with the Z-team, on account of being one of the few to know the extent of the damage inflicted by Flambae, but all of their other dispatchers had quit, and you wanted to step up. Like Robert, you also didn’t like the show weakness, and you didn’t want to show fear at the voice of Flambae, so you agreed. Flambae didn’t recognize you as the hero, but he liked you as their temporary dispatcher. You were curt, didn’t flinch (audibly) at their quips and jabs, and didn’t treat them like criminals, they could handle that. Blazer knew Robert would be a good fit for the Z-team, and you had known your position as their dispatcher was temporary, but she wanted you to help ease Robert (and the team) into the new arrangement. Everyone survived the first day, the Team butthurt about you leaving them, and Robert exhausted with how annoying they all were.

When the Z-team invites Robert out to the villain bar for drinks, they invite you too, they had more history with you than they did Robert anyways (some more than others, not that they had realized it yet). Courtney knew Robert was Mechaman from the start of the first day, but she eventually figured out who you were by association. She got some laughs out of knowing that Flambae was unknowingly in the room with the person who had taken his fingers, and someone he had torched. After the fight with the other bar-goers, you were all on your way to the Taco place when you noticed the arm of your compression garment was ripped, burned skin showing through the sizable tear in the fabric. Sonar had been walking with you and saw the burns, along with the panic evident on your face. He took his blazer off and tossed it at you, mumbling something about him being too warm to wear it anyways.

When Robert decides to tell the team the truth, that he’s Mechaman, he suspects Flambae’s not going to react well. You’re sitting over by Sonar and Prism, he’s hoping that they’ll protect you if he can’t get over fast enough. After Robert’s confession, and before Flambae’s retaliation, the team hears your quiet confession to your own superhero identity. Flambae looks at you for a while, his look flickering between anger and something softer. He ultimately tries torching Robert, only to be stopped by Golem, and Flambae flies off into the night.

SPOILERS BELOW, my thoughts immediately after seeing the movie, overall really loved it (excuse my spelling it’s gonna be all over the place)

20/10, beautiful, deep dialogue, way darker than I expected but I think those points were done well. pacing was done really well, next plot points weren’t obvious/easy to predict, felt like the time was used wisely. such bright use of color.

some points from way of water were repeated but kept very brief, probably events occurring in the same few months

intro scene with loak/neytayim had me crying immediately, to know the navi can commune with their ancestors (like literally hang with them). the music playing was netayim’s theme, same as the end credits final song

the feelings-discussions with jake and neytiri about spider, netayim’s death, everything was really like “wow they’re getting it all out there, all out in the open”.

ELDER TULKUN! ADORNED TULKUN! i need another piercing. who pierced them? was it their people? i am obsessed that they make the same vibrations as real like alligators (or crocodiles or both?) in the water

loak giving neytiri back her father’s repaired bow was really nice to watch

neytiri’s pink/tan cord top looked beautiful (when the RDA showed up on the beach)

ian garvin(?) the marine biologist really stood up for what he believed in. i don’t think we saw what happened to him but who knows.

“she wants me” the dumb RDA dudes commenting about disguised-neytiri lmao

after operation break-out-jake, the on-world base just has to be absolutely cripped. neytiri really used those projectile arrows well.

jake and neytiri both coming full circle in changing their minds about spider. neytiri washing the paint off and seeing her hands covered in red right before going to try to stop spiders death. was trying to be quiet while ugly crying here.

the whole scene with spider, jake, and neytiri gave me strong cain/able son-killing biblical vibes, especially with jake talking to eywa.

loak and the other metkayina kids getting sunburned was a cool touch

the female navi clan leader with more red face paint had a pink ikran, LOVE

metkayina tsahik telling kiri “if you’re god/eywa you really gotta help us out okay?”

i live somewhere with dust devils, really love the flux devil, eywa said lets get all this metal shit OUT OF HERE

i physically flinched during the end battle when jake and toruk (his giant orange ikran) slammed into the floating rock

didn’t expect to see scorsby (the tulkun hunter) alive but happy to see him die a wildly violent death (like probably the Bends, going too deep too quickly) at the hands of the blinded tulkun

i liked varang’s more-embellished war headdress, like yeah more feathers more cunty girl

seeing a semi-physical representation of eywa was really stunning and i have no notes. kiri surviving the connection to eywa with the help of spider and tuk felt like a good decision

kiri’s queue acting like a cobra raised to strike freaked me out, but pop off queen

the evil squid must have been fucking terrifying to the human RDA crew, like jesus

new baby god help me i’m crying again

jake tells loak he’s proud of him

quaritch has some really funny one liners in this, “well this is awkward ” steven lang the man you are, i’ve loved you since Terra Nova

thought “oh nice quaritch gets an ambiguous ending”, then they cut back to him screaming, we didn’t see the death so who knows

i heard prior to the movie that neytiri never smiled again after netayam’s death but i was happy to be proven wrong with her smiling

spider and kiri communing with the ancestors, spider’s getting invited to the cookout. seeing Roxto and the Metkayina Tsahik was sad.

”the light always returns” being solid foreshadowing was a nice touch for the spirit tree’s light returning

curious how this end battle will be any more productive big-scale than the one in the first movie, but maybe since general ardmore is down the on-world, human control will fail. the guy from the first movie is still alive, so maybe they just start experimenting on how to get humans to breath the pandoran air (like spider)

overall very pleased with what this movie addressed, questions it answered, etc

“dream as one” by miley cyrus was lovely, i actually thought it was lady gaga singing at first.

atotsk imagine where your sworn sword/kingsguard enters your room in the dead of night, confesses his plan to kill you (to bring glory to a dwindled blackfyre rebellion) and during your scuffle you manage to kill him, sustaining some injuries. other guards and your loved ones are trying to break down the door that your former sword barred, and when they finally get through they see you covered in (his) blood.

dispatch fic ideas

loved watching the playthroughs on youtube. spoilers for several chapters of the game!! please feel free to use these ideas/turn them into longer fics if you want. this is long! gender neutral reader used.

thoughts about sonar (blushing, kicking my feet)

(vaguely inspired by idciminlove’s dispatch healing spit character post) powered reader, whose can mind control people for the length of one task, or 5 minutes without a task, and whose powers are triggered when they swap spit with someone. you never realized you were even powered until there was a warrant out for you, after your fourth date of the month, apparently you had told a previous date that you’d “kill for some chinese food right about now”, at the end of what you thought was a great date. you found it weird these people kept going blank and leaving at random points in the date, but you thought you were just having bad luck. once explained to the heroes responsible for your arrest, they offer to have you work at SDN, maybe as a dispatcher, maybe in the labs with Royd. You knew the ethical/consent issues with using your powers, and you weren’t into that, so you maintained your very minor/technical rap-sheet of coercion and manipulation. Blonde Blazer tried to market you as a hero, but the names were a roadblock. Sali-con (saliva-control)? Kissy? Members of the Z-Team affectionately called you Kissy (or they say it to fuck with you, unsure currently).

when sonar is cut from the team, you keep reaching out to him outside of work. he texts you to meet him at the Sardine one morning before work (you could complain about the time but you’re just happy he messaged you). being met with shroud and the rest of the red ring goons. maybe sonar told him about your powers and shroud saw a use. you just can’t get over how seemingly easy it was for victor to lie to you.

mind controlling spit? you’re knocked out and in a dentists chair so Shroud can collect it for later. not in a weird way, he’s literally using the spit collection suction machine that the Red Ring stole from a dentists office. they’ve got to keep you muzzled or gagged so you don’t command any spit-controlled people to fight back though.

when Sonar and Shroud have Robert strung up in the Sardine, maybe Sonar’s trying to keep you close to him so Shroud will forget he’s got another vulnerable hero in the room. maybe Shroud sees how stressed Robert gets when he notices you’re being held by the Red Ring, and Shroud points the gun at you instead- Sonar doesn’t like that. that earns him another pistol whip for swatting Shroud’s gun away from you.

when Mecha Man and Blazer fight Sonar, Sonar lets loose that he’s only still fighting because Shroud is personally holding you hostage, as insurance that Sonar does his job. if Sonar rebels, you die.

if you kept Sonar on your team, and cut Coupé, you and Sonar would get closer through jobs. Malevola generally approved of you, despite some of them originally considering you a bit pathetic, not being a real former villian, you do grow on them.

what about sibling!robertson, and your father implanted a secret second astral pulse into your head when you were young, effectively giving you powers?

everyone knew Robert would be more suited towards wearing the suit, you didn’t want it anyways. your father had something different for you. we all know he wasn’t the best father, but he was a damn good creator. he knew whatever housed the astral pulse would be magnificent, the Mecha man suit was magnificent, both of his children would be magnificent. he told robert that his sibling had an oral surgery, tooth extraction under anesthetic, nothing crazy, and that was the truth. what Robert Roberston II didn’t tell his children was that he was going to implant a second astral pulse in robert’s sibling, at the base of the skull.

you come out of surgery, with powers. a familiar blue crackle of energy, maybe enhanced speed (not like Chase though), enhanced strength, and stamina. a normal occurrence, children’s powers present at different ages. you and Robert were close when you were younger, and you weren’t going to let powers change that. it would be you, Robert, and Chase for long stretches without your father. maybe you knew Shroud/Elliot growing up, it wasn’t uncommon to see him and your father together. your father would never tell Elliot about your pulse, though, even when they were on good terms.

you go into the hero line of business, and robert takes up the Mecha man suit after your father dies in it. when robert and the suit are downed by Shroud, you’re closer than ever.

maybe you’re helping Blonde Blazer and working at SDN, and help the transition of Robert becoming a dispatcher.

when the Red Ring attacks the city, maybe Shroud’s already two steps ahead, he’s got you inside the spider mech with him for the final fight, under his heel. Shroud accounted for everything…

maybe you see your opportunity in the final fight, you use Punch Up’s favorite move, and punch Shroud in the dick! he didn’t account for that, he’ll be honest. you get ahold of the controls and aim that spider mech sky high, and you try to kill the psuedo-pulse he’s got powering it. you’re too focused on killing the mech that it gives Shroud the opportunity to bash your head against the windshield. you try to get your self sacrificing bullshit hero moment, to down Shroud yourself, but you don’t get it. Shroud’s got your neck under his heel again and he notices a scar and blue sparks. He didn’t know his old friend had it in him, to experiment on his own child. With a few quick and dirty moves of his knife, the second astral pulse is out of your body for the first time since your father inserted it, and you’re downed.

Shroud still holds Beef hostage, still has you on the ground in front of him, still gets Robert out of his suit, and to surrender his pulse. Shroud couldn’t believe his luck, two pulses, he could laugh, and the cherry on top was the look on Robert’s face when he told him what his father had done to you (for better or worse). He hands Beef to Robert, and kicks you now normie body over to him. If Invisigal helps Robert, he’d get you to SDN’s infirmary where he can try yo put your astral pulse back in your body. It was clear after the removal that your body wouldn’t be able to sustain itself without the pulse, compared to Mandy, who can function without the Blazer amulet. Your breaths were shallow and choked, your skin had the hue indicating lack of oxygen, and your eyes wouldn’t stay open.

once both robertson siblings were reunited with their respective pulses, and healed from their injuries, they kept up the never ending work at SDN.

how about flambae?

you’d probably have to be a member of the z-team for him to eventually take you seriously. when he meets you, there’s the initial curiosity of wanting to know more, but then the dick personality gets in the way and he decides to stop caring.

maybe you’re old friends, and he accidentally burned you when you were both younger.

maybe you’re old enemies, and he burnt you up in a fight a while back. when he meets you, he doesn’t think much of it, until he runs into you in the gym, wearing less clothing than usual (as some gym outfits are), and noticing the burn scars draped across your body. it really does take his breath away and make him stop mid-blab.

you try not to hold it against him, knowing all of the z-team have done undesirable things with undesirable consequences, and focusing on the mission of redemption and forgiveness.

even so, maybe you can’t help but flinch whenever he flames up, and that kills him inside.

Phenomaman!

Phenomaman mentioned that his alien bits weren’t “compatible” with Blazer’s, what if you figure out how to make you and him work?

what if he meets you on the Z-Team, you were barely considered a villain, but enough to be on the team. maybe you weren’t even considered a villian and Blazer decided you’d fit well in the team anyways.

he doesn’t get love at first sight. he’s all broken up about getting broken up with, and he basically needs to relearn how to be like a human (something he didn’t really need/want to do while dating Blazer). but when you treat him like a regular guy (with some extra grace and patience), he starts appreciating your presence, and missing you when you’re elsewhere.

he likes being helpful to the Z-team when he can fly to missions quickly, but he LOVES carrying you to and from missions. except when you’re injured/unconscious, which happens a lot after gnarly missions, and stresses him out. he doesn’t comment about the flights or try to poke fun at you, just dutiful desire to be near you.

maybe you and him get maxxed out compatibility since you work well together on missions, and he eventually no longer becomes depressed after failing a mission because you’re inadvertently helping him get over Blazer.

you’ve been together since way before his dad was killed, and he doesn’t understand why you haven’t left him yet.

when he’s in the coma after his fight with Shroud, you’re there.

you slowly (i mean slowly) move the mangled Mecha Man suit into his apartment, knowing your injured, muscle atrophied man will try to carry it himself so he can get to work on it when he wakes up.

you’re diligently taking care of Beef, letting him cuddle Robert’s lap in the hospital bed.

if you’re a normie, you’ve likely got a job to get to eventually, so you write a bedside note for Robert letting him know how long he’s been out, and updating today’s date each day in case he wakes up without you.

you got pulled onto something un-excusable when he wakes up, so there’s nobody stopping him from getting in his suit, trying to stop a robbery, and going to Crypto Night with Blazer. he doesn’t kiss her, and he has a tipsy revelation that he hasn’t even talked to you yet, he’ll figure it out.

maybe you actually got a job at SDN, either as a dispatcher, or helping Royd in the lab. you don’t mention that Mecha Man is her boyfriend, because the number of ex-villians in the building who hate his guts is above 0, so you decide not to risk it.

Shroud will try to use you against Robert if he ever gets his hands on you. maybe he’ll give you some modded collar that electrocutes you if you’re ever further than 10 meters (30 feet) from him, a pretty short leash. that has Robert seeing red.

we know Robert would give up fighting to protect you, despite your insistence. “the mission” you keep trying to mouth to him. the mission being, keep functioning as Mecha Man, protect the city. to you, you don’t have a part in the mission. to him, you are the mission.

after watching episode 8

after morrow and hermit get put in the non-synth holding cell, morrow finally reunites with his lover from the USS Maginot. maybe you’re also a cyborg, and they had your cybernetic limb removed or caged like they caged his arm. you and morrow have some time together in the cell before hermit was locked up. he’s very happy to see you and just wants to feel you one last time before he perishes at the hands of Prodigy. (holding cell sex wink wink, he’s only got one available hand but that’s fine)

regardless of the time or place, you’re morrow’s partner and he just really has a thing for you putting your hands on his face. (maybe related to losing his own arm/hand when he was young).

being morrow or boy’s partner and being locked up with them in the finale holding cell, fearful of whats going to happen next, hoping the lost boys won’t kill you.

you’re boy’s partner and were always more involved in/focused on the hybrid program, so when everything starts going to shit you’re trying to get to the lab to turn back on the hybrid tracking that arthur disabled, and trying to find the kill switch controls for the hybrids (those aren’t canon fyi), and that’s when nibs finds you and brings you to the cell with sylvia. maybe the lost boys want to hurt you because they know boy cares about you. nibs keeps shocking you with the gun because she’s pissed about being shocked on the boat. “stop it” morrow/kirsh/boy spit out in the holding cell when nibs just keeps shocking you.

you’re in the lab with kirsh when morrow comes for him. if you work for prodigy, kirsh doesn’t want to see you hurt, when morrow puts a gun to your head, kirsh has a far more human reaction than morrow expects (could be either really fucking angry or really fucking desparate). if you were a scientist from the USS Maginot and were captured by Prodigy when the ship crashed, morrow’s happy to see you and maybe its kirsh that puts a gun to your head (despite growing fond of you in your forced servitude).

you’re boy’s partner, and kirsh is watching you and boy through the camera’s. that’s it.

maybe the lost boys are going to have the xenomorph hurt you, but kirsh/boy/morrow pull the “they’re pregnant!” card to try to stop them from hurting you, and nibs is INSTANTLY obsessed with you (whether or not you actually are). it stops them from hurting you for at least a few weeks.

after watching episode 5

you’re on the USS Maginot, married to Morrow, and you each receive notice that your daughter has passed away on Earth. you both thought the combined salary being paid into her account on world was worth the heartbreak of leaving her.

you’re on the USS Maginot (can you sense a pattern) and its just each moment Morrow falls for you, despite his awareness that relationships between crew mates go against protocol. maybe you’re the only one he trusts without a doubt. maybe he steps in when one of the crew (cough cough Mr. Teng) start to fixate on you to an uncomfortable degree.

you’re a human on Neverland, with Boy Kavalier, and you’re pretty much his favorite. Boy doesn’t keep people around for fun, but you’ve been with him through thick and thin, neighbors or classmates or childhood friends, he’s kept you by his side through his rise to power. you two are essentially together, partially because you can hold your own in conversation enough to have his continuous attention, partially because Boy’s a boy and he’s always loved you, but neither of you are screaming it from the rooftops. maybe the lost boy’s ask if you have a crush on him, and threaten to blab to him about this crush. maybe they’re still learning about adult relationships, and ask if you’re married to Boy like the scientists Dame and Arthur (maybe Boy overhears and insists that you’re already married).

maybe you’re Boy’s partner on Neverland but you’re not as aloof, preoccupied as he is, you prefer to engage with all that’s on the island. maybe you’re Kirsh’s favorite human.

after watching episode 3

mostly cyborg reader: before boy kavalier built wendy, he and his team had you. now we know that wendy is a synthetic base with the human addition, but that wasn’t kavalier’s first idea, his first was a human base with the synthetic addition. cyborgs weren’t anything he came up with uniquely, but he wanted to see how far he could go. you were part of the science team with dame and arthur, and for one reason or another, you were going to be the one to see how far you could go. the process of replacing your human aspects with synthetic ones took years. first an arm, then a leg, then the digestive tract, then your heart. you hadn’t dropped dead yet, and you hadn’t gone crazy either. the healing process after each surgery was the hardest part, but after so long there wasn’t as much left of you that could heal. the last part of you that was still human was your head, your brain, your mind. at that point, it was a miracle you were still alive. When kavalier realized he could go the other way, start with full synthetic and add in a human mind, your development stopped (something that dame and arthur were grateful for, they didn’t want it to come to ripping their friends’ brain out). your role is similar to kirsh’s, a parental figure for the children. you spent a lot of time with kirsh in your development. he found the process of your physical development (enhancement?) fascinating. before the children (and lets be honest even after they were created) kirsh felt like he could relate the most to you. not just because you were *now* the most similar person to him on the island, but because you both shared a mindset on most topics (when you were selected for the cybernetic experimentation, arthur made jokes about how you were pretty much a synth already, blunt, minimal-nonsense, etc. that joke was actually one of the things that gave kavalier the idea, arthur still feels guilty about the joke).

or generally simplified cyborg reader: you’re a cyborg working for Prodigy within Neverland, you’ve been around boy kavalier as long as kirsh has, and serve as supervision alongside kirsh. kavalier repeatedly makes parental jokes, calling kirsh dad, saying you two fight like an old married couple.

you’re another cyborg aboard USS Maginot, and when everything goes to shit and you crash in Prodigy City, you and Morrow need to get out of there, together. death stranding 1-2 fic ideas

death stranding 2 spoilers!

finished watching the death stranding 2 playthroughs and troy baker i am yours. here’s where i’ll dump my fanfic ideas for death stranding, feel free to use in any way. most of these involve you being affiliated with Fragile and Sam (aka being a part of the crew). i will be adding as i think of scenarios!

Higgs

you work together at Fragile Express and you’re secretly dating. when Higgs goes off with homo demens and nukes the knot, you work with Fragile and Sam to try to stop him. you’re hurt that he never gave you any warning. you’re even more hurt when Fragile figures out who you are to Higgs and tries to leverage you against him. maybe she tries to torture you with timefall, her grudge against her former friend never did seem to lessen with time.

maybe Fragile never felt the need to punish you for loving Higgs, and you swear yourself off of him, how could the man you love kill thousands of innocents and still be the man you love, after all. she never tells you she left him on the beach, you assume with everyone that he’s gone, paid for his crimes. until a horny ghost mech shows up a little over a year later asking where his girlfriend went. or he just straight up kidnaps you.

Higgs is stranding on the beach by Fragile, and you (a DOOMS sufferer) somehow visit him every night when you fall asleep. you partake in what Higgs called “thousands of years” of nothingness, loneliness, except you get to wake up from the nightmare and he doesn’t. one night he figured out how to keep you on the beach with him (ha and ka), your body disappears from earth, Fragile and friends are distressed. maybe you get your own ghost mech, and try to escape back to your friends. maybe Higgs convinced you of his cause over the lifetimes of waiting on the beach, and you’re sympathetic to his cause now, angry ghost mech and all. maybe Sam retrieves you from the beach and brings you back on the DHV Mag.

alternatively to ^, Higgs figures out that he can summon your Ka to his beach to spend time with him. This results in your Ha passing out every time he does this, and Fragile and friends are stressed on the DHV Mag.

You’re connection to Higgs is stronger than anyone expected. You forget that you still wear your lovers ring, he forgets about your necklace he keeps underneath all the other layers. Your DOOMS allows spirits from the beach to speak through you (think spirit medium at a séance), an oftentimes unhelpful power, unless you’re wandering the wastes, bored, wanting to learn about those who are stranded. When you’re on board the DHV Mag., you experience a few blackouts- gaps in your memory, not how your seance power usually works. You’re surprised to hear from Fragile and friends that the angry neighborhood terrorist has been speaking in his southern accent-through you, taunting Fragile and Sam, talking about what he’s going to do with you when he gets his hands on you… same as it ever was.

you’ve got an interesting DOOMS ability that lets you see beached things in more detail, more than just the gooey particulated form Sam sees. you also used to have a thing with Higgs. not even just a former hookup friends with benefits thing, he trusted you. he talked to you late into the night and told you his hopes, his dreams, his fears. then he was gone, with the homo demens, with Amalie. you’re on the DHV Mag. in the early bits of DS2, walking to the bridge with Sam when you mecha Higgs appears in front of you in full form. it takes you a second to recognize him but when you do he gives a loving smile, then grabs you by the neck and heaves you up to match his eye level. unfortunately, Higgs is keeping his form hidden from Sam, from anyone (like when only his golden jaw mask was visible in DS1), but you can see him. Sam just sees you floating and choking in the hallway, he’s freaking out. You’re busy trying to figure out why Higgs, still your Higgs you hope, is apparently trying to kill you. where Higgs touches you, Sam sees the black gooey hand prints of a BT (or like Tomorrow). Higgs asks you why. Why? Why you wanted him dead. Unbeknownst to you, when Fragile had him on the beach, leaving him to suffer, she wanted to twist the knife. She told him that you, his trusted confidant, didn’t care if he lived or died. She had seen the two of you before Higgs’ defection, she knew that would hurt him more than anything she could do. Mecha Higgs walks you to the bridge and slams you against the wall, again asking why. When he realizes you genuinely don’t know about it, he realizes you never gave up on him. The gooey touch of all beached things licks across your face trailing to your mouth. He disappears back to the beach, you’re confused, Fragile and friends are trying to figure out what they just watched and heard from your one sided conversation with some BT ghost.

another day on the DHV Mag. and it happens to be your birthday. Rainy gifted you a charm she made, Tomorrow made you a magnet of a polaroid of the two of you, Heartman gives you an upgraded ring terminal that functions like an apple watch, heart rate, vitals, etc. Sam was off somewhere else, and you start walking to the bridge, only to find a box with a bow on top. naturally, another present. you take it back in your room and open it, a set of accessory hands, like Fragile’s, only this pair was red, and the hands a little larger. you laugh, thinking how Fragile must’ve wanted yall to match, and walk onto the bridge with it hanging around your neck to thank her. except that wasn’t her gift, it was Higgs’. when Tarman tries to take it off for testing, it tights like an anaconda cutting off your air, much to the panic and dismay of everyone on board. it flips off Fragile every time you face her. it pinches Sam every time he gets too close. the less you fuss about it the more….normal’s not the right word, the more domestic it is. stroking your jaw, tucking hair behind your ear.

Sam

you’re childhood friends with Sam, still friends to this day. you were babysitting Lou with Fragile when Higgs came to the bunker, Higgs hurt Fragile and takes you with him back to the beach. maybe APAS (APAC?) tries to brainwash/memory wipe you.

you’re traveling with Sam, Higgs pops up, does his creepy licky behavior with you too, does his best to make everyone uncomfortable. Sam realizes he cares about you way more than he thought, more than just worrying if Rainy or Tomorrow would be okay. that only gives Higgs more ideas.

he keeps having wet dreams about you. that’s it. he’s stressed on the DHV Mag.

Fragile

Dating Fragile and knowing, in your gut, something went wrong when Higgs attacked the bunker, somethings more wrong with her than you expected.

Using your DOOMS power to heal Fragile after her timefall run in with Higgs.

Dating, you’re in bed asleep when she comes home after a busy day. she’s not quite ready to sleep just yet (horny).

i can think of fic ideas/concepts but I can’t write, so eat up! all you writers are crazy skilled.

you’re a teammate, you have healing/empathy abilities (think of the power however you want but I see it as you sort of absorb the other persons injuries to a certain extent. bucks got a broken rib? now you have a bruised rib. someone gets hit with a neurotoxin? you absorb a diluted version and metabolize it faster. happens when you’re skin to skin with someone. similar thing with feeling the other persons emotions). you touch the void at some point and you think it doesn’t do anything, except the team realizes you’ve absorbed some of the sentry serum. open ended idea after that.

you’re a teammate (these will all be teammate prompts lol) and the void’s ability just doesn’t work on you.

teammate, you worked together with bucky and walker during the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Walker gets protective as you get closer with Bob.

another healer teammate, Bob notices your change in demeanor after you healed everyone’s injuries, and it’s taking longer than usual for you to heal, you go to a low place, Bob can relate. maybe you feel taken advantage of or that the team doesn’t appreciate you for how much pain you take for them.

you’re the teammate with a power uniquely situated to handle the void.

rings of power season 2 light spoilers. x reader fic ideas for the second season of rings of power, these are more concepts than fully fleshed out ideas, please feel free to use!

celebrimbor: you traveled with galadriel and halbrand in S1, you arrive at Eregion injured, celebrimbor is a good friend and is mortified to see you so injured, helps take care of you as the elvish rings are made (and after). also anything with fluff or him being affectionate. maybe you resided in Eregion for a long time before your travels with galadriel and celebrimbor was worried that he had missed his shot with you.

annatar: met you as halbrand, jealous of your closeness to celebrimbor in Eregion, tries to get your attention, maybe tells you stories of Valinor/ the Valar, etc. maybe when he “reveals himself” to you and celebrimbor he heals your wounds to even further prove he is who he says he is.

sauron: MORE YES HELLO, you were a fellow maiar who accompanied sauron on his journey with melkor/morgoth and escaped adar just in time to not be “killed” as sauron was long ago. you saw the light shoot into the sky and felt the ice grip the land, and you ran, knowing the uruk would be coming for you next (having at least equal blame for the uruks’ suffering). you ran across middle earth, moving from town to town before adars forces could find you. you end up in the final town that adar plunders before the numenorian forces arrive and you are reunited with your “king of the southlands”. halbrand thought adar had killed you long ago but this was a pleasant surprise, his queen was with him again. he takes you to eregion with galadriel and eventually reveals himself to celebrimbor, while you reveal yourself as another heavenly visitor.

adar: you were one of the first age elves taken by morgoth/melkor, before you were fully corrupted by morgoth or sauron, adar lets you go (or can’t bring himself to stop you from escaping). you spend time in lindon recovering, eventually travel with galadriel to help her look for sauron (while you look for adar). you reunite in the southlands before Mt. Doom erupts, he keeps you close to him in Mordor.

elrond: you and elrond were not so easily convinced to whole heartedly support the wearing of the elvish rings. he goes to you for comfort (when he was on the run or when he was back in Gil Galad’s trust). maybe he’s in Eregion when you come back injured from Mordor with halbrand and galadriel and he stays with you as you heal. maybe halbrand starts showing too much interest in you while in Eregion and elrond doesn’t like it one bit.

gil galad: (lord is this man tall, and all the close up’s on his hands are doing me no good) literally anything for gil galad. please.
