Her tongue tells tales of rebellion
I would truly love if we could knock it off with this stuff.
I don't know Caitie, so I hope I'm reading this with more condescension than perhaps was intended, but this strikes me as an incredibly bad faith take. Nowhere in this thread or the one quoted do I see evidence that the person being spoken of made any claim that their fan project wasn't fanfic. Fix-its and rewrites are a perfectly common genre, and we can understand that's what this person is doing even if they haven't used the precise term.
More importantly, the level of toxic positivity I've seen in the DA fandom in the past 18 months is truly wild. A divisive installment of a beloved series doesn't necessarily kill its community. But treating people's enjoyment of that installment as some kind of purity test - either of their status as true fans, or of their moral character - absolutely will.
Part of fandom has always been accepting that people in your community will not enjoy the same things you do. Your favorite character, scene, game is going to be someone else's least favorite. And maybe they will rewrite it, or ignore it, or create something you don't like. That shouldn't have any bearing on your own enjoyment. And you also don't need to take to social media to put them on blast for it.
DA fandom shrinks every day. It will continue to do so naturally because the series is done. Making fun of people who want to continue to engage with the media and make transformative works about it is a great way to ensure the community will only get smaller.
I don't have space to reinstall Inquisition but I wanted to draw my girl so bad!!! I don't even have any screenshots but then I remembered I am not bound to the CC so here's Namani Lavellan around the start of Inquisition. I love her so much I should ramble about her sometime
Every single time I finish the DA2 quest "A New Path" I'm struck by how much of a dumbass Keeper Marethari is. Every single time. I know the intention was to preach "oh, look how Merrill's blood magic has ruined everything" but like. Last time I fucking checked Merrill is not responsible for Marethari's actions?
Maybe if the Keeper had supported Merrill in the first place, instead of casting her away and then trying to coax her back into the clan that she was, at the same time, spreading lies to about how Merrill is dangerous and thus further socially isolating her... Maybe if the Keeper didn't treat Merrill like a baby who can't make her own decisions and just doesn't know any better whenever they disagree... Maybe if the Keeper didn't choose to become possessed because she didn't trust Merrill's ability to handle her own shit... Maybe then, things would be different!
Every single death that the story tries to blame Merrill for - Pol, Marethari, potentially the entire clan - is just other people being stupid and not trusting her. Despite the fact that through the entire game, Merrill harms zero (0) people using blood magic.
Hmmm not done ranting about how dirty Dragon Age treats Merrill actually! Because you know what else bothers me? The fact that it's regarded as a dangerous and naïve thing for Merrill to want to rediscover elven history. But when Morrigan wants to do it, she's written as having the grace and confidence that you should support.
I'm not drawing conclusions from nothing btw. Even Charlotte Reber's book, the behind the scenes look at Dragon Age 2, uses Merrill as an example of when it's a "better outcome" to disagree:
"Merrill is easy to befriend by aiding in her personal quest—but her path is one that leads towards tragedy and self-destruction, and supporting her risky decisions can result in the death of not just her mentor, but her entire clan." —pg. 84 "In fact, Hawke disagreeing with a party member’s actions sometimes arguably leads to the better outcome for everyone involved. In Merrill’s personal quest, for example, helping her repair an ancient elven artifact can result in the deaths of both her mentor and her entire clan." —pg. 109
(I will reiterate that I can't understand how any of those deaths are Merrill's fault.)
Literally every member of Merrill's clan who dies in her questline dies because of Marethari's lies. In fact, all of Merrill's struggles are traced back to Marethari lying and being more interested in being "right" than in doing the right thing. Everything that's pointed at Merrill going "too far" goes directly back to Marethari denying any chance of her getting support. Marethari pretty much *forces* Merrill to kill her in the name of being right. Merrill's clan doesn't die because of her, they have the chance to die because of the lies Marethari told them about her. But considering how DA2 is easily the worst when it comes to victim blaming, I suppose we shouldn't be surprised at Merrill getting blamed for Marethari's actions. - Mod Alistair
I thought about them too much today, take a couple of "retro" stylized cards of the old couple just because. 🍄🐻🍂🪹
Today Inquisitor Maddox is officially 1 year old!
I first posted chapter 1 the 7th of May of 2025... how time flies... 89 chapters done... 702 pages posted.... in tumblr is harder to count things but these are the Kudos on ao3.... 387... that's crazy.... like even if many hit Kudos at the start and then stopped reading that's a fucking ton of people...
When I was a teen I always wanted to do a webcomic! I posted 4 pages and that was too much. Everytime I tried, I never finished them. My record back them was a comic of 18 pages. Then, 1 or 2 years ago, I managed to do my longest comic with 3 chapters, 30 pages all together. I was accepting I could never do something much longer than that, and just do short stories and call it a day. But hey!! Look at this!! So much done and still going! The passion is still in my heart!! In one hand, I found a system that works for me (having chapters on back up to post them slowly without having to rush self imposed deadlines). Also, making very simple art, almost no color. Very sketchy lines. A lot of "better done than perfect." So many times people complimented me saying "you draw so well! I could never do that!" and that's the last thing I want with my art. I rather have people see my art and say "that's not that big of a deal, I could do that". So I hope you see my sketchy lines, and amount of white backgrounds, and typos and say "I can do the stuff I want to do too! It doesn't have to be perfect!"
When I started this comic, I was like "fuck the fear of leaving things unfinished! I will start it and let's see how it goes!" and I would had not be able to do so much without the encouragement of everyone reading this story!! I know so many people don't start webcomics of fics that are not finished for the fear of not being able to see the end of the story. And I am very thankful for everyone who bet on me and started reading this anyways. I hope we can reach the end, but most important, enjoy the path <3
So I want to thank you all so much! To the people who had been reading from the start!! To everyone who ever left me lovely comments, tags and replies!! To everyone who shares it and likes it! To the people who started reading and stopped, and to the people who arrived later and leaves me an ask saying they read the whole thing. And to the people I can see silently liking each chapter 1 by 1 and then getting a follow <3 And to the people who didn't interact ever at all and are just reading in silence, thanks a lot for enjoying this story. Now everyone have a nice day <3
Hi! It's my birthday today🌸 I know I'm not much of a talker over here, but please know that I'm very thankful to all of you who support me and my art💖 If you want, you can share my art to congratulate me 👁👁 Or it would be great if you could donate to Ukrainian charities (savelife.in.ua for example) to help us in this war! Thank you all! <3
you could really go somewhere with briala and celene both ostensibly wanting Rights For Elves™️, but it's like. both of them, when given the choice to kill a bunch of elves (that they don't know or care about personally) to gain power, they do it without hesitation, or really any remorse, or even trying to make amends afterwards.
which could be really neat as a parallel - like celene ostensibly considers the elves to be citizens of orlais, and therefore her responsibility, but... not to the point where they get equal rights or the assurance she won't have them slaughtered. and briala also considers the elves as her people, but... not so much the dalish, since she's willing to get them killed for her own benefit, no problem.
and then, both of them are sort of entrenched in the system of orlesian court stuff, which is 90% empty gestures and posturing rather than changing anything about orlesian society. iirc, celene's Big Move wasn't like... improving actual average living conditions for the elves in halamshiral, it was to put an elf in university. one entire elf. waow. and same with briala - her ambition isn't like "topple orlais and splinter it and seize power for the elves in the chaos" it's "get an elf into a court position". what's step 2 of that, to actually improve anything for the masses of elves in general? don't worry kitten. the hand selected small number of elves going to university, or becoming minor nobility, will definitely have some major impact. for sure. beyond enriching a small group, and being a public propaganda piece to soothe the other elves and prevent them from rebelling <3
idk!! it could've been neat, like a somewhat darker leliana/marjolaine situation, where briala really DID absorb all the morals of the orlesian court and can no longer see beyond these methods at all, even when she's trying to help. and she still has the orlesian mindset of dehumanizing the dalish and seeing them as a step below even the city elves.
but instead all this is just bc, weekes is incredibly bad at writing political or social conflicts,
Grocery Fund Help Needed
I was really hoping to hold out until at least a little while longer, but I think it's time to admit that my family needs help again... we have almost no food left in the house. Last night I skipped supper altogether, and I was planning on doing the same tonight to keep conserving what we have but I'm so hungry it hurts right now. 😩
If anyone could spare even a little so we could get even a few things, I would be very grateful!

three middle aged elves walk into a bar…
Okay I am certain someone else could do like a better full analysis of this than me. But does anyone else feel like it's. Really weird and gross. That the singular white woman companion in DATV (Harding), is the one who gets the storyline that pushes the narrative that she is the biggest victim Ever. And everyone(but especially the elves) should Feel Bad and Guilty and Apologize for how Awful the. Ancient elves from thousands of years ago. Treated the Titans. Especially when. Both elven companions are POC.
