Given how symbolic the Inquisition made the Mark on the Inquisitor's hand, with the common people asserting it was some sort of blessing from the Maker, I really feel like there must have been massive political/religious backlash when they showed up back through the Eluvian missing the lower half of their arm.

It's not like they could tell the rank and file, much less the Orlesian Court, that actually it was raw/uncontrollable magic that was killing the Inquisitor until taken back by an ancient Elven diety.

Instead, it looks like the Maker is taking back their gift.

Maybe the Divine gets very good very fast at spewing some like about it being a sign of the Maker's love or Mercy because humans physically cannot bear divinity forever without pain, with the exception of the Holy Andraste. Or even that the Inquisitor had reached the turning point where they had to choose to ascend with the Anointed or remain to do the Maker's work in Thedas and they chose the latter. Depends on your Inquisitor and who you made Divine.

But God, the talk had to be awful after... and not just while the Inquisitor is suffering but about their suffering, so there's really no escape.

I almost would say I want to be a fly on the wall for those religious/political discussions, but there's a good chance I would be cringing with sympathy the whole time.

Kala Ingellvar & Viago de Riva

Created for the @me-envenena-viago Viarook Zine. This is a pairing that I've been thinking about for awhile and the zine was perfect for exploring it with art!

It was such a pleasure to be a part of this zine along with great artists and writers. Thanks so much to the organizers for putting this together and thanks to everyone who supported the Transgender Law Center!

A bit about them is below the cut.

In a canon divergent AU, they would be together. At first, there's mutual respect. For Viago's part, there's an admiration and attraction that grows stronger after she helps save Treviso from the dragon attack. Kala's first impression of him is of a handsome man with an air of gravitas and dignity. She comes to really appreciate his passion for poison mastery. They're both nerds at heart after all.

Eventually, Viago would approach her, spurred on by Teia of all people. She could recognize the attraction between them very easily.

bravely . i think aveline and isabela should primarily be fighting over who gets to do violence and against whom. and what actually counts as violence . instead of what being good at woman is like

like. aveline becomes captain of the guard after having previously been a soldier married to a templar. her Life essentially is defined by sanctioned, culturally noble and respected violence against those perceived as Other, Deserving by the state she serves. child bride to pirate pipeline isabela (who is on the run because she took on her powerful boss to free slaves he would have profited from the sale of) has been the Other against whom it is Acceptable To Commit Violence (but who is not legally or morally permitted to retaliate) her whole life, and i think this has made her incredibly protective of her right to engage in violence of her own. to me this has always kind of been the heart of their conflict— ideas about who is respectable, who is Allowed, who gets to define what that even means. especially with the context that As captain of the guard, aveline quite actively reinforces her institution’s right to enact violence & the Taboo against the disenfranchised returning it; her guardsman sexually assaults an elven girl, and she not only protects him, but literally (accidentally.) starts a war over her right to prosecute the girl’s brothers for killing him in retaliation when She failed to deliver appropriate justice. ISABELA WAS SOLD AS A CHILD BRIDE. it’s such a gimme. that’s like the main thing that differentiates them and the main difference in their interests. literally how is this not the main thing they’re clashing about?
