"I'm so lazy for lying down so often" "I'm so greedy for eating such a big meal" MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND!!!! YOUUUU ARE A GIANT OMNIVORE. YOU'RE MEGAFAUNA. DO YOU KNOWWW HOW ENERGY EXPENSIVE IT IS TO KEEP A GIANT OMNIVORE WITH A HUGE BRAIN RUNNING. very!!! very energy expensive!!! eat that burger take that nap. holy moly. you wonderful animal. your species is made for frequent meals and daytime rests and long sleeps. let yourself be a human.
I did some napkin math on the kilowatts it takes to run a human when you convert over from calories and 2000 calories a day is 2.326 kWh, or roughly a Jackery HomePower 3000 a day, and when you look at the stored energy in a typical person, i.e. stored as fat, I at least was kind of horrified and wondered why people aren't near constantly on fire, and then remembered that we're technically combustion engine, so we kind of are, begrudgingly, just not in a way that harms us.
you know the saddest thing is i’m never ever ever surprised by someone disappointing me anymore, im just mad at myself for expecting more than they’re capable of.
"I feel an aching desire to speak to you and take up your time and attention" most normal thing to think about someone
every day i walk into work and my manager says “here is the rule you must enforce” and i go “got it bossman” and i spend a couple days enforcing the rule and then my manager comes up to me and says “why are you enforcing the rule? we changed the rule yesterday and didn’t tell you” and i go “ok bossman new rule it is” and then a customer comes in asking to break the new rule and i say “sorry you can’t it’s the rule” and they say “but you don’t understand the rule doesn’t apply to me” and then my manager comes out and says “they’re right the rule doesn’t apply to them” and i ask why and my manager says “it just doesn’t.” and then the next day we get rid of the rule entirely and no one remembered it existed in the first place.
anyway this sounds like a metaphor for neurodivergence or something but it’s not this is just my fucking life
1000 times this.
i have so many hobbies and interests but each day the four horsemen (instant gratification, shortened attention span, procrastination, exhaustion) grab me by the throat and shake me until i collapse in my comfy bed
you have to be kinder to people with memory issues.
you have to be kinder to people who are slow processors.
you have to be kinder to people who don't understand your jokes.
you have to be kinder to people who forget important dates.
you have to be kinder to people with cognitive decline.
you have to be kinder to people who were always this way, too.
you have to be kind. you have to be kind.
It’s hard out there, everyone. Be kind. Be wildly kind.
I can’t overshare because that would be very humiliating but everyone else should overshare because I like to know everything
need someone who giggles + kicks their feet when I text
me pretending my enormous feelings arent crushing me to death and carrying out routine tasks that are good for my health and longevity
there’s something so fucking magical about bookstores and libraries
Some nights I can tell before you say a word. The shorter replies. The tired eyes. The way “I’m fine” sounds like something you had to drag out of yourself. I’m not going to interrogate you. I’m also not going to pretend I don’t notice. Come here. Drink some water. Eat something small if you haven’t. Then get comfortable and put that heavy head against my chest. You can tell me what happened when the words stop fighting you. And if they never come tonight, fine. Silence doesn’t make you difficult to hold.
a soul like mine doesn't come around often but i'll let u figure that out
