“Complex trauma is also known as developmental trauma in that it is trauma that is chronic, pervasive, and it happens early in development from, say, birth to teens. Many people who have what we call complex trauma have had many years of trauma; mostly we’re talking about child abuse. I think complex trauma also covers other issues like war and political torture … but mostly we use it to think about people who’ve been abused and neglected as children… . Emotional neglect can lead to a pretty profound disconnection from yourself; depersonalization, depression, a sense of purposelessness. It can be pretty severe.”

“You robbed me of my life. I could have been human—I could have been alive, but you took my heart and you murdered it. You made me into this.”

Some systems switch quickly and easily, especially after they have put in the effort to cooperate with each other. Sometimes systems can rapid switch due to stress or other reasons. Some systems switch dozens of times per day, others can go weeks without switching. All of these are real and valid DID/OSDD experiences. You don't deserve to be fake claimed if you're able to cooperate with each other, that takes time and often a lot of work!

When these needs are neglected, children are given the message that their needs are not important, and they lose a sense of their own personal value. They are not worth someone being there for them. They get the feeling that they do not matter. As their needs are chronically rejected, children stop believing that they have the right to depend on anyone. These dependency needs depend on the interpersonal bridge and the bond of mutuality for their fulfillment. It is the interpersonal bridge that is broken when one is abandoned through neglect. Since we have no one to depend on, we come to believe that we have no right to depend on anyone. We feel shame when we feel needy. Since these needs are basic needs, i.e., needs we cannot be fully human without, we have to get them met in abortive ways. A neglected child may learn to get attention by getting into trouble or by annoying his parents. One will drink muddy water when he is dying of thirst. I know of children who get their touch and stimulation needs met by getting spanked. Much has been written about abortive adaptation. Suffice it to say, when one’s basic dependency needs are not met at the proper time and in the proper sequence, the personality is arrested at those developmental stages. The child learns adaptive ways to get his needs met. Over the course of time, as one experiences need-deprivation, one loses awareness of these needs. Ultimately one does not even know what one needs.

you deserve apologies, you deserve people who genuinely try to understand you, you deserve time for yourself, you deserve kind words and actions, you deserve compliments that aren’t backhanded. you deserve kindness
the mental illness/health community REALLY needs to understand that most delusional people can understand when they're in a delusion. like we understand that what we're experiencing ISN'T real to u but in our reality it is an unshakeable and like , straight from the mouth of god real type of thing . get rid of the idea that delusional people don't know that their reality is different than other people's .
this is called double book keeping and it REALLY needs to be talked abt more.

If antipsychotics make you tired and sleep a lot that doesn't mean you are lazy. It means you don't have the luxury of a lot of energy.
