Olivia Benson as your mother - 2010 - "You get caught smoking"
The bell rings, you wait by the entrance to the school, bag over your shoulder.
"Hey, Y/N" Your friend Alice comes over, black jacket, converse and a cigarette packet in her hand, Tracy behind her, same get up, but instead of ripped jeans, she has baggy ones.
"Come on, it's a smoke." Tracy laughs, "oohing" as you roll your eyes. "Look, just try one okay, come on, there's a bunch of us behind the gymnasium." Alice sighs, grabbing your upper arm gently.
And you go along, there's ten minutes until Olivia arrives anyway. "Oh my gosh, you smell so good, is that new Victoria secret perfume?" Tracy gasps, taking out her packet of cigarette's and lighting one, Marabou red's. "That ones so nice, smells like fresh flowers and rich people." Tracy snorts, giggling softly. You reach the corner and see the other kids there, some seniors, some juniors, some you know, some you don't.
"Oh, there's my boyfriend, Brad, he's totally so cool." Alice swoons, running over to a tall blonde guy with thick eyebrows. "Light?" She whines, and he leans over and lights her cigarette against his, each end touching the other for a few seconds.
"Come on." Tracy hands you a cig, smiling. "You don't have to light it like that, miss perfect, here I have a lighter." Tracy sighs and hands you her lighter, purple with little heart stickers on it.
And you do, you light it, take a puff. And boom, you cough, but it feels cool, you feel a slight tingle, like you belong for once, Brad chuckles, Tracy howls, "That's my girl, see not so bad after all?" She giggles, taking a deep drag herself.
"Miss Benson. Miss Harroway-!" A shrill call out from the corner, it's Miss Stewart, your Biology teacher. "Shit- fuck-" Alice cusses, her and brad throwing their cigs on the ground and stubbing them out, Tracy panics and takes out her vanilla body mist and sprays like a mad woman.
"What am I seeing, how- never mind, I'll be everyone of your parents, I've got no words, do you kids even care about what that does to your-....nevermind." Miss Stewart sighs, motioning for you all to scram.
And you do, you throw your cig away aswell, and say goodbye to Tracy and Alice, who scurry away towards the nearest way to the subway. Then you see Olivia's car, parked waiting, probably for the last ten minutes, shit, time went by fast.
"Hey, kid" Olivia calls form the car, rolling down the window. "Come on, i've got groceries!" She smiles, sunglasses on top of her head, hair down, she looks happy, but a bit tired.
You get in, the second you do she sighs. "So." She begins, her tone a little lower. "How was school?" She asks, turning the keys in the ignition, looking in the rearview mirror for oncoming traffic before pulling away from the curb pick up zone.
"Anything new?" She asks again, tone stil lower, she might just be tired.
She looks at you as you get to a red light. "You smell like smoke, or more like it, cigarette smoke." She remarks, tone the same. "Anything you wanna tell me?" She says, checking the rearview mirror again.
You shift uncomfortably in the passenger seat next to her, looking out the window at the street passing you by and mumble something about science class, and "you might be getting a call-".
"Oh really." Olivia says, looking over slightly for a moment. "Did you smoke?" She finally asks, bluntly, not accusing, not shaming, but there's dissapointment in her tone.
"How'd you get the cigarettes?" She countinues. You begin making exuses, everything from, "Seniors" to "Random man" to "We found them, really."
"Y/N, please." Olivia sighs, softly, not mad. "Were not doing that, okay?" Olivia states, her grip on the steering wheel tighting and loosening. "Just tell me what happened, okay, no detours, just the facts." She sighs, again, soft, but there's an obvious tension.
"When we get home, bag's on the counter, jacket in the wash, alright?" She says, turning a corner, your almost home. "And phone in the bowl, asap." She counters, looking over at you again. "Any last minute texts start now, it'll be in there all weekend, got it?"
You can see the apartment, Olivia slows down a little, traffic's heavy in this part of town. "I love you, but I don't love this, and I waited for you" She says, her tone a bit gentler.
"But don't worry, we'll figure it out."
