tomorrow I am RUNNING to the only comicbook store left in my town, there should be 3 volumes out already! (and I can read scans for the rest. I read a shitton of stuff digitally and I'm a fan of ebooks, but with comics and manga I reaaaally like paper if I can get it)

I still can't believe they actually adapted the Side Story: Athena's Great Love. I knew there was a small chance they would but it still took me by surprise.

It's obvious that they laid the clues there for us to realize.

First of all, because it's Mu precisely who realizes that Saori is worried about the bronze knights (especially Seiya) and wants to go see them (aham..him).

For a moment she is scared when she feels discovered.

But Mu smiles and tells her that she can go without a problem because he will take care of everything.

That moment is SO precious.

Almost as if he told her "Go. Go to him"

And just look at her. She's so happy.

In the Side Story something similar happens, when Saori is walking in Athena's fountain and Mu suddenly appears, scaring her and telling her that he knows why she is there (to see Seiya).

However, I liked the change they made because in the side story Mu appears to tell her (indirectly) that he is aware of the feelings she has for Seiya, but that these are not right, and that she should give them up.

You know. Because she's a goddess and he's a human. And because she must love all her knights equally.

On the contrary, in this new series it feels like Mu has more compassion for her situation, and allows her to go with Seiya, so that she can be happy like a normal girl (even if it's just for a moment).

"Right now, she's not Athena. She's back to being just an ordinary girl."

That phrase is included in both versions.

I don't want to raise my hopes too high, but this could mean that there is a posibility to develop their relationship in a more open way (as we have seen so far in this version).

The collage with all their moments together was the best addition of all. (people still asking if they are in love like..???)

And when she reaches the statue of Athena, she starts to cry believing that he died saving her.

Similar to when she cries while holding him in the side story.

The last part is also an addition, but it feels consistent.

How they look at each other.

And of course, he opens his arms to catch her, as always.

Don't touch me, it's too precious.

This is probably the closest we will ever get to adapting this side story.

For the love of god kuru let them be happy already!

battle couples has gotta be one of my favorite tropes though. The “you got me?” “Yeah, I got you.” The kiss for good luck. Fighting alongside each other for so long they know every strength and weakness. The dichotomy of being fucking terrifying to their enemies, but so soft with each other. When one is in danger and the other goes feral, protects them at any cost. When everything is over and done, it’s all “let me see where you’re hurt,” and washing off the dirt and blood.
