Quickly swapping my blogs around because I rather this become my Main blog.
It is prompt release day!!
There are two (2) prompts per day, although you are only required to do one (unless you are feeling especially inspired). Prompts can be SFW or NSFW. It is up to you how you choose to interpret the prompt. Please make sure you tag your work appropriately.
Additionally, your work can also feature platonic Ghost+Gaz if you would like. We only ask that the relationship between Ghost and Gaz be the focus of your work, even if there is a different romantic pairing.
We would love if you could tag the blog directly in your posts on Tumblr to make sure we can find and reblog your work as well as using the hash tag #GhostGazWeek.
Excited to see everything you make for this underrepresented pairing.
I personally think Price is a Half-orc battle master fighter, synergistically it's a killer combo within Dnd, but I love a good Orc. Dnd has tried to fix their past transgression on how they’ve made orcs almost predisposed to aggression and violence, but truly they need to do more (I blame Tolkien and racism). In my own personal games of Dnd Orcs and Half-orcs are much gentler creatures, their harder nature coming from a more nomadic culture within tougher environments. Orc posting aside, Price as a Half-orc allows for exploration of his character to subvert expectation. Price is not a good man, but he can be a good person. Half-orcs have an innate advantage on intimidation being within a militia or crown’s guard, this would be very handy, but intimidation tactics could very easily lead to a reputation. Price is a top soldier within CoD, his work is good and his reputation precedes him, and most of all, Price will do what he thinks is best to get the job done. Most fantasy settings are not going to have a military system as complex as any modern military, but I imagine they are big enough for men to know of their superiors' work and reputations without knowing them personally. This very easily leads itself to Price being known as this big scary man within the military, a boogeyman if you will. Any of the men that actually serve under him know what he is actually like, a big softie that treats his men like family. I imagine Price prefers being on the road even if he is just by himself, it reminds him of traveling with his own family. During more peaceful times there's less of a need for soldiers to travel and be away from the capital unless diplomatic visits are occurring but investigating reports that could threaten that peace is still very necessary and it's a role Price is more than willing to fill with or without a squad of men by his side. It’s how he finds himself in their largest city on the border when the attacks begin, pressed back to back with a paladin from an order he half remembers working with, defending and protecting civilians. He’ll complain later about being too old for this. ( I love a chance to talk about orcs :)) and I think tusks would look good with his beard)
I have no strong feelings on what fantasy race Gaz would be, but I do believe that given all of his experiences in the game that he is a Paladin. Sticking to regiments and rules for the greater good but struggling with the realization that sometimes rules need to be bent and broken to get the job done. I imagine he’s been training to follow in his fathers footsteps for as long as he could remember. His family has served as knights to the crown for ages. A pact made between ancestors that has yet to be unfruitful for their people. His father was a well-respected man within their order, and the expectation to be a carbon copy of him weighs heavy on Gaz. Feeling like he is suffocating within his studies and training at home, he asks to be sent out, wishing to help with some of the kingdom’s troubles. It’d be good to strengthen relations with the outer villages and towns further from the capital, and Kyle got the much needed opportunity to breath stretch his legs. He’s not expecting anything more major than helping locals with petty thieves or acting as an impartial judge for disputes, and for a while, he was correct. After finishing with a smaller town, Gaz plans to head to the largest settlement on the border and meet up with some of their order for a check-in. He'd been out of his fathers reach for 3 months now, and Kyle wanted nothing more than to stay out on the road. His trip into the city is interrupted by attacks from their neighboring kingdom. There’s no better excuse to avoid his father than a war. ((I’m rotating the 141 in my head and building them like a Dnd party at this point))
Soap being a rough and tumble street kid who gets in more trouble just for being a tiefling. He’s a human born teif, some grand-grand father having made a deal with a Cambion that was vying for power over an age ago. He’s different, but his parents still love him. Soap’s innate spell casting and curiosity have led him into trouble on plenty of occasions, the apex of which was nearly blowing up the forge in their city. The incident nearly got him kicked out of the city if it wasn’t for the owner setting up a deal with his family that worked out in everyone’s favor. Soap interned at the forge, due to his hellish nature, he could withstand the heat better. This also gave him the opportunity to tinker around with scraps. His tinkering and magic skills grew under the tutelage of the Forgemaster, and it wasn’t long before he was being scouted by the crown. He was offered a higher education and more training in exchange for working with the Crowns Artificters. He flies through his courses impressing his teachers easily and no one is surprised when he's offered a position, what does surprise people is when he declines the cushy city job and asks to be placed with an in field unit. Soap sites his want to help people directly and sitting in meetings here wouldn’t allow him to do so. It takes time for them to consider his request, Soaps prowess was sought after in the city, and many would have preferred to have him spearhead larger projects or oversee manufacturing of his designs. It’s only when trouble starts on the edge of the kingdom that they agree to have him assigned to a group in the area. He’s there when hell breaks loose. He loses more than half of his squad and probably would have lost his own life if it wasn’t for a masked stranger that swooped in at the last second.
Been thinking about CoD within the lens of DnD and how well Ghost would fit as a “Reborn” if you go with a narrative that he really did die in that coffin. Reborn aren’t a race but a “lineage”, meaning that thematically you could be any race before you were changed or inflicted by something. I like the thought that Simon was just a Human within a town's militia or perhaps a crown’s guard sent to investigate something way out of his league. Reborn are disconnected from their first life through death and are left with faded memories of your previous experiences. Narratively it would be angsty to have Ghost’s most clear memories be of his traumatic childhood, torture and subsequent death, leaving him clinging to the faint happy memories. Memories where he can almost make out his mothers smile or hears Tommy’s laugh echoing in his head unable to remember what was so funny. Due to his foggy memory Ghost has never gone looking for his family, unsure of where they lived or if he was even on good terms with them when he died. Meanwhile his mother has never stopped waiting for Simon to come home after he ran away to join the guard. ((maybe I’ll write something for this after I’ve pondered the rest of the 141))
