some days, food will be easy. some days, food will be whatever. some days, food will be extra effort. some days, food will be scary. it's important that you eat on every single one of those days.

So a few months ago I read the BEST fic and now I literally cannot find it anywhere. I’m going to describe it and if anyone recognizes it even a little please lmk so I know I’m not losing it
okay it was basically a jatherine modern au where they were both teachers but their students didn’t know they were together until Jack tells this whole story about him and some girl who he loves. The kids start putting the pieces together and J/K reveal that they’re engaged. That was basically it but I remember it being written so well?? Anyway thanks for helping a girl out
UPDATE I FOUND IT!!!!!

KATHERINE PLUMBER IS BUTCH AND FAT AND JEWISH AND SMART AND STRONG AS FUCK, SPREAD THE WORD
The newsies fandom has a problem with misogyny, racism, and ableism. But I will be focusing on the misogyny in this post.
I’ve been wanting to talk about this topic thoroughly and actually get my thoughts out cohesively, so here it is.
Fandoms have always been laced with bigotry, and the newsies fandom is not excluded. I usually see this being shown when people talk about Sarah or Katherine. With Sarah, people usually reduce her character to only Jack’s love interest, or they’ll use her as a plot device for something. Now I can see why someone might think that Sarah is an under developed character (I actually believe this myself) but that is no excuse to reduce a characters autonomy. I also don’t really see this a fair argument because a lot of y’all’s favorite character is litteraly white boy #46 with 3 lines of dialogue.
i just think everyone needs to watch this again
(it's been TEN YEARS)
apparently people don’t like her?
Anya being super clingy w/ Dimitri in Paris while he’s having a mental crisis about her being his lost princess is so chaotic and sad to me.
watch what happens but its me singing that shit
I hate the Newsies fandom misogyny dude
Like oh you hate Sarah Jacobs? The one character that literally has done nothing wrong except interfering with your favorite ship? You despise her? "she's annoying!" Sure...
You hate Katherine because "she isn't fleshed out enough" but your favorite character only has like 3 lines...? Sure buddy...
don't get me wrong, it's okay to be a hater, hands down I love hating on stuff and it's OKAY to love background characters infact I LOVE Barney peanuts (a character with NO lines)
but PLZ realize how you sound saying these arguments before I just explode
made myself so upset and sick thinking about this that i cracked open imovie and made it myself smh

one more thing on women's history month but, like... there is no newsies conversation without women. historically, girl newsies existed on both sides of the strike force -- some as supporters, like annie kelly, and many as scabs. women have existed in every iteration of newsies in some form -- from ann-margaret and ele keats in the movie, to kara lindsay and capathia jenkins (among others, of course) on broadway, to the uk where we got an entire group of brooklyn newsgirls and a female spot conlon in the amazing clarice julianda and lillie-pearl wildman. the junior version of the show features multiple girlsies written into the script. women have been at the heart of this fandom for its entire existence, contributing amazing fanworks and content, and -- perhaps most essentially -- today, they are at the heart of newsies' continued existence! any local production of newsies will have a ton of girlsies, often making up more than half of the ensemble. at the local level, women are often the ones contributing the turn sequences, the high harmonies, and the crisp tap sounds. i'm not saying you have to abandon your favorite newsboys. no one is. but as a woman, any production of newsies that casts any of their lead newsies female means something to me. it's a way to add very real representation to a show that has consistently lacked it. this march, let's lift up all of the women that have made this show great, and try not to understate their importance in newsies's historical fabric.
