Happy Anniversary!
Happy 63rd Anniversary, Carol and Therese!
The progression of Carol’s wedding rings removal ↳Carol (2015)
“In Denver, Carol stopped and sold her diamond engagement ring at a jeweler’s. Therese felt a little disturbed by it, but Carol said the ring meant nothing to her and she loathed diamonds anyway.” “She looked at Carol’s hands, the pale freckles sprinkled on their backs - the wedding ring was gone now - and at Carol’s eyes.” - The Price Of Salt, Patricia Highsmith
Suddenly realized what date will be in one week exactly. Need to plan a little celebration.
I am absolutely in love with this movie
reblog if your lock/home screen is a picture of an actor/fictional character and write in the tags their name/character
Ok so I watched carol. And I didn't like it... I thought it was a little dragged out. And carol I felt like just made me sad. Like fuck the world ya know? But I related the dragged out to the way they must have felt, the longing the endured. Wbu?
Yeah right, just fuck it. Fuck being forced into conversion therapy. Fuck your abusive ex-husband. Fuck trying to keep custody of your child.
…
Ok, I’m gonna say it one (1) last time. Carol Aird was a gay woman in the 50s.She was gay in the 50s.She was a woman.GayWomanIn the 50s
It’s. Not. That. Easy. She couldn’t just say “Fuck it” and expect that to solve all her problems. And she couldn’t be bold or too obvious in her advances towards Therese either, because again, she was a Gay Woman in the 50s.They spent most of the movie/book longing for each other because being a lesbian back then was not acceptable.
And I also think that, although Carol loved Therese from the start and desperately wanted to be with her, she doesn’t want to subject her to the way gay women were treated back then. She’s experiencing it firsthand, and I think she tries to protect Therese from that, even if that means keeping her at a distance and not giving in to her desires.
Because I think Carol would always blame herself if their relationship causes problems for Therese, and I think that’s also part of why she is somewhat toning it down, at least in the beginning.A part of her just wants Therese to have an easier life then the one she’s about to choose.
Exactly . Is it seriously that hard to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and make an educated guess as to why they do what they do?
Agreed. Other people ignorance makes me so pissed off sometimes. Especially when it’s about the best film of all times.
Just saw this on twitter omfg.
Finally a proud owner!!
Omg😍😍 Wouldnt that just be an amazing movie?!?!? p.s. whoever made this is the smartest
Agreed!

THE ORIGIN
Timeless classic
And a lot of other things, I would add! Didn't laugh so hard since 'on the scale of 1 to Rooney Mara how much do you love Cate Blanchett' phrase.
Cate: in 2015: I’m not gay, but who cares?“ in 2016: I’m not gay, not yet.” 2017…?
Quite a mystery we've got here! Lol!
I understand why people hold hands: I’d always thought it was about possessiveness, saying, “this is mine.” But it’s about maintaining contact. It is about speaking without words. It is about I want you with me and don’t go.
Yep. Couldn't agree more.
Todd Haynes’ lesbian love story, an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel, tops poll of more than 100 experts
Finally it's official!
