I love my mom. I really do. After she had me she stopped working and we spent every day together. And everything was so perfect until Dad got home. I think he always kind of resented my mom for leaving work but We didn’t have the money for day care and my dad was doing alright enough for rent and food so we just… made do. As I got older, my dad grew angrier and I could tell my mom was scared of him. She probably always had been. He never hurt her. And he never really… I mean he didn’t hit me. But he didn’t have to to hurt me. And my mom just kind of let it happen and she didn’t do anything about it… And I miss her… I do but, I don’t think she loved me as much as I loved her. I think she would have protected me if she had. *chews on his lower lip thoughtfully* I haven’t seen either of them in a long time.

-hums quietly and leans over so that the line of his body is pressed along Ollie’s side- I am s-sure that she l-loved you in h-her own way… M-more than y-you realize because… -smiles slightly and nudges his nose against Ollie’s cheek- How c-can’t she…? -sighs softly as he thinks about himself and Ollie and their more than tragic childhoods- It m-must be h-hard to be a p-parent right? I mean… why else w-would these things h-happen…?

-shrugs- Hopefully still comfortable and warm… with lots of soup and sandwiches and cupcakes… with someone who will tell you how you could be a mermaid or a fairy or any other amazing creature… because… y-you deserve that. -nods as he kisses the top of Ollie’s head-

Not pale? Pretty skin? It’s just… -brushes his thumb against Ollie’s cheek- Your skin’s like alabaster… like marble… like soft down of doves… -shrugs and looks at Ollie fixedly- Pale is a bad word for all that?

Do mermaids have swampy green hair? I always imagined them in all pastel colors. *runs the pads of his thumbs along Freddy’s neck, his hands loosely looping around his neck* I’ve been think a deep blue color. Like a blue black maybe.

I’d imagine so… some cultures have mermaids with fish heads so who knows? And mermaids should be just as different as people right? So they don’t have to be all pretty… maybe there will be some swampy green hair beauties or weird stuttering, small carp mermaids too… -nods and squints his eyes at Ollie- I think it would look good with your pale skin?
