Braxton: so I know I'm supposed to be professionally sad when people drop off abandoned puppies. But that just means more puppy time for me, so am I terrible? Probably. Anyway, down to help feed some little fur babies?
Olivia: I don't think it makes you terrible? At least the way you're talking about it makes it seem like you're at least caring about the puppies!

I aim to be lionhearted, but my hands still shake and my voice isnât quite loud enough.
âWell I guess I picked it up a few years back. Didnât do it too often around here till I moved to California for a while. More like I just donât like to sit around too long, hence why Iâm closing my source of revenue for the day.â He shrugged lightly. âWell itâs sort of my job to remember names and drinks so donât worry about it. Iâm Seth.â
âI canât imagine Tree Hill compares much to what you experience in California then? Itâs pretty awesome that you got the chance to try it out there. I get that, I like to keep moving, always trying something new.â She replied. âWell, itâs nice to properly meet you then Seth.â
âYeah Iâm more of a participator than a spectator. But Iâve caught a couple of competitions in California. Although I guess its sort of built in to the participation because you gotta wait your turn for waves but anywayââ He rambled away. âYeah well I mean Iâve poured plenty of your drinks. Olivia right? Kinda a whole different perspective in the daylight I guess.â
âI wish I could participate, but I guess it just wasnât my sport. How longâve you been doing this for then? Because the way you talk about it, it sounds pretty damn important to you.â Olivia asked curiously. âYes, Olivia thatâs me. And now I feel even worse, because you recognised me and knew my name. For the purpose of being on the same page, what do I call you?â
âYep thatâs the one.â The board sport, he thought to himself fondly. âSounds good to me. Iâll see you then, then. So you like my place then?â He asked, always looking to hear ways in which he could improve it. Aside from his dad, the place was essentially his whole life.Â
âI used to try it out when I was in high school. No good at it unfortunately, itâs a fun spectator sport though.â Olivia smiled wistfully. âI do, actually. Very much. Kind of embarrassed that Iâve been a frequent visitor and didnât know who owned it.â
âSorry weâre closed for the day, thereâs supposedly a huge swell down the coast a bit and with the weather getting colder I wanna catch it while the catchinâs still good. But weâll likely be open tomorrow.â He said, locking door outside Quincyâs.
âI assume youâre talking about surfing, right?â Olivia asked curiously as she peered into the windows of the bar. âWell, as long as youâre open tomorrow I guess Iâll just go find somewhere else to partake in my vices and just come back here tomorrow.â
âYeah we did, what were we even thinking? Playing with Legos when we could have been ruling the neighborhood with puppies. Everyone would have been jealous.â Owen mused. âAlright, whatever. Iâm funny and you know it.â
âClearly we had our priorities all skewed. Weâre much older and wiser now.â Olivia suggested. âI donât think I wouldâve trusted child us with like an army of any animal.â She laughed. âIâll admit you do have a pretty good sense of humour on occasion.â
âI could have gotten a puppy for Christmas every year if I would have known. We could have been swimming in puppies, Liv! What a shame.â He sighed, shaking his head. âI wouldnât hold your breath on that one, sis. I am hilarious, thank you very much. I did comedy sketches for film classes at school and everyone loved them. People think Iâm funny.â
âMan. We really wasted our time when we were younger didnât we? We couldâve started some sort of puppy family mafia. Nobody wouldâve messed with us.â Olivia exclaimed wistfully. âYeah, yeah. Humourâs subjective and what not.â

âUm yeah, Iâm pretty sure thatâs how it works. You get everything you ask for as long as you say please.â Owen teased, smiling triumphantly. âOh, growing up with you has taught me so many things. Many of them unwanted lessons, but lessons nonetheless. What? I could make a comedy if I wanted to, I just donât have the desire.â
âIf only Iâd known that before today. I think youâve just unlocked all of lifes secrets there Owen, manners, they key to everything weâve ever wanted.â Olivia grinned at him. âThereâs going to be a time when you look back and think, oh wow, that Olivia, what a great influence on me she was -- I owe her everything. It may not be soon, but that dayâs coming. Could you make one though? Are you really funny enough to handle it?â
The daze of the alcohol made this entire conversation bearable. âIt kinda is â life dictates everything. But youâre going back to the egg or chicken question.â There were times she wished her Harvard education didnât show but that had always been Tess, always fucking smart. Too smart for her own good. She shouldnât have left Tree Hill. She shouldâve just died in Tree Hill. But she was not going to utter that here. âNo really letâs see what game you have maybe if you suck so much Iâll take some pity and give you some classes so you donât become pudding to males.âÂ
âWell, I donât have time to get philosophical tonight, Iâm not that kind of drunk -- and even if I was, Iâm nowhere near drunk enough, so Iâll just nod and agree.â Olivia rattled off, sheâd just wanted to cut loose tonight, forget about everything and everyone, but that became particularly hard when the person currently occupying your time obviously had some thoughts bigger than what she was ready to deal with at the moment. âPudding? Well. I appreciate that.â

âThen next time I suppose I am going to go to another bar. Cause life doesnât give people chances. You gotta take it and make it the best.â And lord did Tess know that. She came from the poor sides â and even became dirt poor when her father died. So poor her mother sold her dignity and started sleeping with any rich dude that looked at her â until she clawed her claws into a fat juicy senator. And even then Tess was on her own she started dating her girlfriend so she knew to never expect anything. âYou can have the table. Gotta locate Barnes anyways â so get a kick of it.â
âIâm pretty sure lifeâs not the one dictating my chances at this pool game right now. But surely this game itself would count as taking and making the best of the situation, though?â Olivia shook her head. She knew what it meant to just deal with the life hand had given you, but she rarely let that on to other people so she couldnât blame the girl for insinuating thatâs what she needed to be doing. âRight. Okay then.â
âThen I guess you can go back to doing nothing and I can take someone else that is going to pose a real challenge, right?â Tess had become rather blunt with the past incidents in her life. So she didnât bite her tongue back anymore. Besides, she would be out of this town within a couple of days anyways.Â
âNobody here is ever going to get to be a real challenge if you donât give them a couple of chances to practice. Besides, itâs like you said, weâre not exactly betting anything major and I donât pose a real challenge so letting me have a quick few goâs isnât going to lose you anything.â Olivia was used to this kind of attitude, saw it with a lot of the girls she coached at school. Who knew cheerleaders and bar go-ers had so much in common.
âPlease shut up? I asked nicely that time.â He counter offered with a sarcastically kind smile before she slapped his arm and it turned into a frown. âI will accept your offer, Iâm your brother and I feel like I have to. Just the town in general, mostly focused on the history and how far itâs come in terms of urbanization and the culture diversifying. All that good stuff.â
âOh, well, I mean as long as youâve asked nicely how can I not comply?â Olivia beamed at him, pretending to zip her mouth shut. âYou are my brother and you do have to. Iâm glad our long lives together have taught you at least that. Trust you to be all serious with your topics Owen.â
Owen rolled his eyes at his sisters comment, had he noticed it was her he hadnât even asked as she was used to being a subject in his work. âShut up.â He chuckled, capturing her faces before lowering the camera after he stopped recording. âWow, itâs really amazing â right as you said that, I actually saw your head grow three times bigger. You better be careful. Itâs about Tree Hill.â
âI will not shut up. How dare you.â She laughed, before leaning over and swatting him on the arm. âI offer to be a subject in your documentary, I put up with the fact that you look like a weirdo carrying that camera around right now and you insult me. Anything specific, or just the town in general?â
