Sorry yall, but I’m out as well. I was hoping that I could get over all the drama that this selection has caused, but unfortunately I couldn’t. I don’t exactly agree with all the “hate” that Alex was getting, but at the same time, I do think there was a much better way to respond to them. I also think anon was a big part of why this has been unsuccessful, so if you wish to continue after this 3rd selection, I’d suggest you get rid of that. After this, I’m officially out of the fandom, so I wish you guys the best of luck. @annette-martel @ingrid-liljedahl @jynsongxvii sorry peeps, peace out
When The Report came on, Mami and I paid attention, not because we cared, but as a force of habit. They began announcing the Selected, so I tuned out, relaxing on the coach.
“And finally, from Zunni, Olivia Palacio!”
My eyes snapped open, all drowsiness gone. This wasn’t supposed to happen. I-I entered on a dare-
“Olivia! De que se trata? What’s all this about?” My mother demanded.
“Mami,” I sputtered, “I entered the Selection on a dare, I didn’t expect…”
“No of course not, you never stop to think, do you mija?” She sighed dramatically, “All we’ve worked for! Down the drain. Unless…” She paused, and I could practically see the wheels turning in her head.
“Unless what?” I prompted. I had seen that look in my mother’s eyes before and I knew I wasn’t going to like the answer.
“You’re going to go to that palace, and you’ll make it to the Elite and then you’ll get eliminated.” Mami declared. “All of the publicity with none of the commitment,” She said, mostly to herself.
“Did you ever stop to think what I want?” I asked her. Staying in a palace with 34 other girls and a horny prince wasn’t exactly my idea of a good time.
“Ah no. You don’t get to want anything. You forfeited that right when you applied to the Selection.” She snapped, “Now go. I don’t want to look at you right now.”
Love you too.
“Best Behavior, mija, I’m watching you,” Mami hissed at me as I walked up the stage.
All I had to do was walk across the stage. Really loving the trust, Mom.
I reached center stage, where the mayor was giving pretty speech about the Selection and the important role I was playing, but it was mostly white noise. Scanning the hopeful faces of the crowd, I tried fruitlessly to ground myself to someone, anyone. But this wasn’t home. It never had been. I wondered if I would actually belong at the palace, or if it would just be another residence.
I kept the doubt off my face, opting for a for a reassuring smile instead. If it’s a princess they want, I thought to myself, it’s a princess they’ll get.
The humid Zunni air was replaced by the cool relief of AC once I was ushered inside the sleek black car. Looking down at my fancy, yet impractical outfit, I wondered how long I would last in the itchy material. Apparently when Mami had ordered my “Selection-worthy” pants and shirt, she hadn’t stopped to think about my comfort. But then again, when had she ever?
Although I’d been living in Zunni for two years, it wasn’t where I was raised. No, I belonged on my aunt’s farm in Honduragua, and I was raised as a Four along with my cousins. That was home, not our lonely mansion, these uncomfortable clothes, or a stuffy palace.
I’d been raised in Zunni to give me a taste of the province my parents had grown up in. Or so they said. In reality, they hadn’t wanted a kid around to mess up their careers. So off to Honduragua I went. Not that I’m complaining, I enjoyed my time on the farm, it beat living with my parents.
But now I was here, in a car taking me to the airport to fly to Angeles to compete for a Prince I’d never even met.
Just breathe, I told myself, the last thing you need is a panic attack right now.
So I sat quietly, legs crossed, until we reached the airport. I smoothed out my pants, accepting the outstretched hand of the driver to help me out of the car. I was just going to have to play along.
Inside the plane, the other girls were waiting, scattered across the seats. I smiled at Melody Nolan, who recognized me and waved in return. I thought of the letter I sent her the day after we got selected.
Dear Melody,
Apparently we’re supposed to be on the same plane. I don’t know if you remember p, but I actually met you a while back for a movie I think it was? Anyways, I look forward to getting to know you!
-Olivia Palacio
I hadn’t known what to write, but I’d felt it was necessary to reach out to at least one of the Selected. Luckily she’d gotten the letter in time and responded:
Oh, yeah, The Journal! That was back in the earlier days of my career. That was a good role for me…
I had been grateful she’d remembered me and I was even more grateful that she recognized me on the plane. I had met Melody so long ago that I’d forgotten the name of the movie we worked on! We had both been young, and it was one of the roles my mother had forced me to try out for when I would visit her. It was nice to see a familiar face.
After the plane took off, I attempted to initiate conversation. “So um…” I began, but looking around the plane, I saw that everyone was occupied. Whether they were sleeping, listening to music, or gazing out the window, none of the girls seemed very interested in talking. Good, I thought, I’m not in the mood for small talk either.
I decided a beauty nap would be wise, and I promptly drifted off into sleep.
“We’re chopping off your hair,” A woman with a nasally voice informed me, “Just an FYI.”
“No no,” I protested, “Leave my hair alone!” Although my hair wasn’t too long, it wasn’t short either! And goodness knows I wasn’t going to let some bossy stylist cut it off just for the sake of it.
“Oh come on,” the woman continued, “Cutting your hair symbolic! Represents… new beginnings,” she offered.
“You’re not touching my hair,” I was adamant.
She rolled her eyes, “Fine. Can I at least paint your nails? Or are those off limits too?” she said sarcastically.
“You know I’m really not having your attitude right now, but sure, knock yourself out. It must be so difficult when people don’t let you displace their whole appearance.” I did my best to keep the annoyance out of my voice.
“You,” said she, pointing the nail polish at me, “Are one toxic young lady.”
I shrugged. I guess I just wasn’t having it today.
In the end, the lady was able to convince me to trim my hair, paint my nails, and wax a lot of hair off. So I didn’t change much, but as I looked into the handheld mirror I was supplied with, my pulse quickened, my eyes widened, and any traces of fatigue faded away. Maybe the outside was the same, but on the inside, I was a new woman.
Dear Melody, apparently we're supposed to be on the same plane. I don't know if you remember, but I actually met you a while back on set for a movie I think it was? Anyways, i look forward to getting to know you! -olivia

Please don’t hate me. These scores don’t affect your place in the Selection in any way, but they let you know what I think of your writing skills as of now. Dom’s opinion doesn’t necessarily factor into these scores; I tried to be as objective as possible.

I should have the next challenge prompt up in a few minutes. Let me know if you have any questions about anything
Practice challenge 1 was great everyone!!! And now we’re continuing on with the Selection.
This challenge will not count against you in the actual Selection and is optional. This challenge may replace another challenge you are going to miss. (Real challenges will start near the end of the month.) You can use anything to fulfill this challenge (edits, gifs, fics, etc.)
RP’s with other members of the Selection is not required for this challenge, but is highly recommended.
Prompt: Arriving in Angeles
How was your send-off from your home province?
Who did you meet on the plane? (see below for plane assignments)
How was your makeover? Was anything drastically changed about you?
You will have two (2) weeks to complete this task, and there will be more to follow. This challenge will close Monday, June 19th.
All posts should be made to your OC blog and tagged with #selectionoc, as well as reblogged to the net. If you ask for feedback, it will be given privately. Good luck and have fun!
I’ve just been so excited. I can’t wait to meet all of you when we get there, and all of the yummy food we’re gonna eat! It’s hard to keep in how happy I am! 😁
Really? I’ve technically been the Honduragua once or twice on delivers (doesnt happen often though) but i never really got to look around at the place. What did you think of living there?

Practice Challenge One A/N Sorry no read more because I’m on mobile!
“Never have I ever…” Megan paused, thinking. Her eyes lit up, “..been to Honduragua!” She and the other girl, Peony, giggled in glee as I put one of my fingers down. “And thank God too! Can you imagine visiting such a place?” She whispered loudly.
White people, I thought to myself. Only they would have the nerve to make fun of where I come from. Actually scratch that- rich -white people. Yeah they’re the worst. Yet there I was, playing games with my so-called “friends”. I didn’t realize friends made fun of each other for kicks.
Fine, I thought. Two can play this game.
“Never have I ever slept my way into a role,” I declared. The giggles faded to frowns as they both put a finger down.
“Oh come on.” Peony said, noticing I hadn’t put a finger down. “Stop lying to us and to yourself.”
“Sorry,” I replied sweetly, “I get my roles based on talent alone. I wouldn’t expect you to understand.”
Peony shot me an equally fake smile. “Okay, my turn now,” she began, and so our game continued, as if the poison that had been exchanged a few moments prior had never happened. “Never have I ever entered for the Selection!”
Megan unabashedly put down a finger. “Why have you guys not entered? This is like so exciting!”
“I’m entering tonight,” Peony explained. “You?” She asked me.
“I don’t think I’m entering.” I told them.
“And why not? That’s dumb! You can meet the prince! Can you imagine what I’d be like to be a princess?” Megan sighed.
This was the life of a Two.
After leaving Megan’s house, I hailed a taxi to bring me home. It was only a five minute walk, but I didn’t want it to seem like I was being forced to walk home. No, a taxi was much better.
Thinking about the girls I had just wasted the last two hours of my life with made me want to dry heave, but I told myself it was for the best. As an actress, the last thing I wanted to do is let the media think there’s something wrong in my social life. Contrary to popular belief, lots of drama won’t do you any favors when it comes to getting a role. It only helps if you want to be on the front of a magazine, which I didn’t really care for at the time.
I paid the driver and hiked my way up our obnoxiously long driveway. One of the downsides of being wealthy, I guess.
The house was empty, per usual. With a famous actor as a father and a workaholic screenwriter for a mother, it wasn’t difficult to find some alone time at the Palacio household.
I surveyed my house, making no effort to disguise my disgust for its extravagant moldings and elegant furniture. I had only lived here for two years or so; before that I had been living infor Honduragua with my aunt and her family.
My aunt, who was my mother’s twin sister, married down and was a Four. Her husband, Señor Granja, inherited a large plantation, so they live comfortably for Fours. My parents had thought it best for me to grow up in Honduragua, as they had. Once I’d turned 18 though, they whisked me away from my entire life and family to live in Zuni as an actress.
There was no denying I was good, I had roles being offered to me left and right, but Honduragua was ultimately better than Zunni. I had actually had friends, I thought miserably, thinking about Megan and Peony.
I plopped down on the coach and turned on the T.V. in an effort to distract myself from my thoughts. Eventually, I tuned out and fell into a deep sleep.
The next day was our last day of filming for the movie I’d been working on. It was an adaptation of Twelfth Night, the only surviving Shakespeare play. Supposedly, he had written many, but Twelfth Night was the sole survivor.
I was playing Viola, which led to many jokes, since at one point, Olivia likes Viola. They were light-hearted, mostly about how I was in love with myself. It was overall a good day. That is, until I went over to Megan’s again.
“Okay, let’s play truth or dare!” Peony squealed.
“Do we have to?” I asked.
“Do you have a better idea?” Megan shot back, “Why do you even come if you don’t want to do anything?
“Fine, whatever, let’s just play.” I gave in.
“Truth or Dare, Olivia?” Peony asked.
“Dare,” I said. Let’s just get this over with, I thought to myself.
“I dare you to enter the selection!” Peony exclaimed.
Bitch. “Oh come on stop it, don’t be mean,” Megan told Peony, “It’s not like she would actually enter.”
“And why not?” I challenged.
“Please,” Megan said, looking me up and down. “The Selection? A competition in which 35 girls are brought to the palace to compete for the prince? That sounds exactly like something you’d make fun of us for entering.”
Well at least they know me.
“Even if you were to enter, it’s not like you’d be chosen,” Peony added, giggling, “everyone knows it’s not random, and well, somehow I don’t see you ever getting chosen. Your personality sucks and your looks aren’t much better.”
“You know what?” I snapped, getting up, “Fuck the both of you. I’m going to enter the Selection, get in, and make it to the Elite. Mark my words.” I slammed the door behind me.
As I was filling out the application form, it occurred to me that I had overreacted. This was exactly what those girls wanted, for me to snap and embarrass myself. Still, I thought as I mailed the form, it’s not like I’ll actually get in.
I’ve just been so excited. I can’t wait to meet all of you when we get there, and all of the yummy food we’re gonna eat! It’s hard to keep in how happy I am! 😁
Gonna be doing most of these today, if you still want one you can still apply. (please don’t feel scared to ask me to do it for free, i just put payment as an option not a requirement)
