S01E02: Alec Hardy whump fanfic recs
Here are some of my favorite Alec Hardy fanfics including some good hurt, there might be more, but I'm a lazy fucker, enjoy!
Hurt/comfort:
She Hates Him, She's Sure of It. At Least, She Was Sure of It.
"No more broken heart." Episodes come far and few between, nightmares send him into wheezing fits but they don't nearly kill him anymore. One episode, one he can't even remember, ruins everything they'd fought for. He finds himself on the table again but this time, it's not nearly the same.
You took the blame.
In the shadow of a fractured family and a tumultuous past, Alec Hardy confronts his deepest regrets. The revelation of his infidelity shatters the fragile bond with his daughter, Daisy. Struggling with the weight of his actions, he faces an even more daunting battle as the abyss within him threatens to consume his very existence. (Set in S1EP06.)
Day 2 - explosion *these are whumptober fics, I included my favs but make sure to check the whole work!
Ellie frantically looked around. "Where's Alec?" Daisy looked at her, eyes widening in panic. Fear ran down her back, ice cold. She had just focused on running, getting out, getting as far away as possible. And now her father hadn't made it out... He was still in there... probably buried under rubble, trapped, unable to get out.
Day 8 - Stab Wound *
Ellie and Alec had been chasing a suspect. Alec had cornered and arrested them. Everything had gone smoothly. But then on the way back to the car, Alec noticed that he was bleeding.
Day 23 - Bleeding Out *
Alec came to in his living room in a pool of his own blood. What happened? How did he get there?
Fixing broken hearts
I basically just added lots of drama to some scenes and I think I also changed a few things...
14. Until The Morning Finds Us
Hardy and Miller find themselves in a difficult situation as a new lead in their case turns out to be a trap. Alec is shot, and with no signal, no backup, and no way out, Ellie is forced to fight to keep him alive through the longest night of her life, facing some truths of her own.
Diagnosis
A few weeks after finding Pippa, Hardy spends a rare night at home. Or he tries to spend a rare night at home, but passes out and takes an ambulance ride instead.
Whumptober 2023 - Broadchurch
A collection of one-shots, each based on a different Whumptober 2023 prompt. Mainly Alec-centric whump, because he's my poor, miserable baby. (No characters were permanently harmed in the writing of these fics.)

Kinsley Road
Broadchurch is dealing with a street gang problem. Hardy and Miller have arrested the leader of a local gang, the Kinsley Road Boys. The gang, in turn, retaliates by targeting Hardy.

He hears the gunshot before he feels it. AU where Alec Hardy is killed after the killer returns to the hut.
This is a little weird but I was making a gifset for the part in Doctor Who The End of Time part 2 when 10 gets trapped in that glass box and blasted with radiation and after staring at this whole scene literally frame by frame for at least an hour I HAVE THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS! So please excuse me while I break down all my favorite tiny details about this scene in excruciating detail gif by gif just because I can.

Okay lets start with these gifs here ^^^ LOOK AT THAT PAIN FACE!! GOD! The grimace on his face is amazing. I love it.
A tiny detail in this gif I'd like to point your attention to is the reflection of 10 on the left side the glass when the camera is on Wilf. You can see him start to scream. So good. And the look he gives Wilf? The pain, the watery eyes, the fear. KILL ME
God isn't this just amazing. The way he writhes before releasing another scream of pain. GOD
The slow way he just collapses to the ground as the pain becomes too much. The way his hand slides down the glass as he falls slowly to the ground.
LOOK AT THIS! This is my favorite part okay? Look at how he's curled up on the ground, his hand holding his head and then he grabs at his hair in pain. And he just lays there. In pain.
Even after the machine turns off. He's still laying on the ground in pain with his hand grabbing his hair. It takes a moment before he can let go and pull himself up.
GOD IT'S SO PAINFUL BUT SO FUCKING GOOD I LOVE IT
