"The Fairy Radio Banishes the Demon Dulness" by Edmund J. Sullivan in 1926.
cried otw home from college tonight thinking this is my last semester of my second degree and in total i spent almost a third of my life making the same way back home, same subway stations, same tunnels, transfers, buses...
i recently started working as a barista again and it's walking distance from home, its fine, its chill, my only coworker is super nice and patient but whenever i look at my academic choices in moments like this, especially after an exhausting day like today, it seems I've spent a third of my life chasing comets and unachievable objectives. not unachievable by nature exactly, but mostly because i seem to lack the cutthroat ambition and drive that seems so essential to succeed in the arts nowadays. I feel like Iike im a gentle person, but over time this gentleness became bad aspected and slowly shifted towards a stagnant passiveness where i just let things hit me because i know they will pass.
even so, i look at my years of studying visual arts and now japanese language and literature very fondly and feel grateful for the new things i was able to learn, new beautiful things i learned to admire through study. it's like i can see a bunch of different colors everywhere now and that is always so wonderful
