But fear not, as we have done plenty of research into a smear free pout for this winter season and have searched out the best high street reds along with tips and tricks to make sure you’re looking fab for the coming party season.

Rimmel Apcolipse, Big Bang
This shiny vinyl gloss has the staying power of lip paint and is complimented by a beautiful sheen of sultry gloss. It’s the best of both worlds as this beauty come as a lip and gloss duo in one, making it easy to apply and fuss free. Especially as there’s nothing worse than forgetting one part of the duo and only realising once you’re out!
However you will have to watch out with this one, as applying a lip coat means you lose the gloss appearance (which totally makes it pointless). We’d also advise making sure you’re not on a messy one as your face will end up looking how you feel the next morning!
Tips: We are loving the Big Bang shade, for a sexy siren appeal.
Collection 2000 Volume Sensation - Cherry Pop
This baby is a steal at £3.49. The colour has subtle hues of orange which really make the red pop, whilst it compliments both pale and tanned complexions. Suitably named ‘volume sensation’, if you’re after full looking lips this red will be right up your street. And let’s not forget that this one also has a minty fresh sensation that lasts; the tingly feeling means you can almost feel your lips plumping.
Tips: Re-apply every 2-4 hours and use with a lighter red lip pencil to ensure your lips stay in tip top colour.
This lipstick provides a really powerful punch of colour that stays put for a good 5-6 hours so you won’t need to worry about topping this up too often; especially when used with a top coat. This is actually one of the few lippies that doesn't react and flake under a lip coat meaning you can trust it to keep you looking fresh all night long.
Top Tips: Apply, dab twice with tissue, pop your finger in your pout and pull out; wait 30 secs and apply lip coat. Make sure you don't touch, eat, drink or smoke for at least 30 mins and voila! You've got yourself a perfect pout.
Mac CremeSheen Vs Matte - Brave Red
So we all know just how good Mac’s lip range is, and indeed the only fault we can find is that the actual stick can tend to dry up a little quickly, especially in the Matte editions. But having said that, as it’s Mac we’ve no doubt you’ll use it up so fast that you needn't really worry too much! Still, we decided to review two different finishes to ensure you get the best out of your chosen Mac lippy.
The Creamsheen is ideal if you're after the sex kitten vibe. The result of this shiny stick is that your lips are super plumped and sultry, although it has to be said that it doesn't have the staying power of the matte.
The matte provides a more subtle effect and is the epitome of fresh street-style, although with both of these lippies you may find the effect flakes slightly when top coat is applied.
So in summary, for that vibrant sex kitten allure we’d recommend the Creamsheen and if you're a girl on a mission stick with Matte.

Maxfactor lip Infinity - Fiery
Lip Infinity is a very fitting name for this stubborn bad boy; we’d even suggest buying some oil based make up remover - unless you want your red lips to last for a few days…!
Firstly apply the hot red paint and let it dry before moisturising with the supplied chap stick. It’s a very drying lip paint so if you have dry skin it's probably best to steer clear, although this is the perfect investment if you want your colour to stay put all night with little maintenance!
