Technically, there is no barrier to human cloning.

Twenty-two years ago, a sheep named Dolly was cloned using somatic adult cells derived from specialized tissues. Now, despite many researchers not believing it possible, two macaque monkeys have been born in China as a result of cloning fetal cells. The process is immensely challenging, and is riddled with ethical questions. Cloned animals have the potential to enable the effective study of human diseases, and the birth of Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua could potentially be the first of many steps towards human cloning.
