Hibiki looked down at the bag he tossed her way, looking down to see what appeared to be berries. He said he may be hungry, so did he eat these? Must be the case, and he would know better than herself. So, with a smile, Hibiki got down on her knees to fully offer the berries to him.
“They look good! Too bad I can’t eat them so we can share, but don’t be afraid to eat as much as you want!” He seemed a bit hesitant at first, but Hibiki only continued to smile, grateful that he eventually starting eating them. If this was the type of food he ate, how would they be able to get more? She didn’t want him to starve, and she wasn’t sure if the food she ate would be any good for him.
Before long, Red finally found whatever it was he was looking for; another one of those balls. But this one looked different.
“A friend ball?? Okay, I’ll give it a try.”
As she took it, and stared at it a bit, it allowed Tyrogue to eat a good amount of those berries. So, staying on her knees, Hibiki held it out towards him.
“You want to come with me, right? I may be a bit awkward, but I’ll try my best to take care of you! Besides, I bet we’ll have fun together!” He continued to watch her, which only made her assume that he was confused, so she tried again.
“It’ll be for your safety, I promise! Once we get to where we need to go, you can come back out and eat more of those berries!”
Of course, seeing Hibiki try to feed the berries to the little Fighting Type made Red chuckle a bit. “Hibiki-san,” he managed to say through his laughter, “Where we come from, everyone eats berries. Aside from the meat of certain Pokemon, those are our main foods. Here.” He pulled a small bag out of his one of his pockets, and pulled a small blueberry-like fruit out of it. It looked like a blueberry but oddly resembled the shape of a shrunken down orange. “Have an Oran Berry. They’re sorta like...distant cousins to Sitrus Berries or something. Don’t know much about them. I just know how to grow them.” Tossing the fruit to her, he pulled another one out for himself and started munching on it. How far from home was he that people didn’t know about Pokemon or Berries? Further than he’d ever gone, that’s for sure.
Tyrogue seemed to be enjoying the berries anyway. He’d began nibbling on the berries pretty quickly, accepting anything that his mommy gave to him. Right now he was holding one between his little hands and sitting cross-legged on the ground, attacking it with a hunger. Most of it was mushed on his lips.
Well he kinda was a baby, so what did you expect?
Once that matter was resolved and he found the ball, Tyrogue seemed a bit wary about going inside it. He hadn’t been entirely conscious until a few minutes ago, but for the brief moments after she touched him, he felt like he was trapped, confined in such a tight space. All he wanted was to break free and find that warmth again.
He didn’t want to go back into the dark.
But it was mommy who was saying it, right? Maybe this ball was a nice place. And not like the dark of his egg. And she said he could come right back out later, right? Yeah! For a short time he’d stay in this ball.
Then he wanted to feel that warmth again.
Unsure exactly what he was supposed to do, he wiped his berry-smudged lips on the back of his hand and, as he was carrying half a Sitrus Berry, headbutted the button on the ball. And hey, it seemed to work.
He was sucked in, and it shook once before it clicked.
“Look at that. You just caught your first Pokemon.”
