Painted Crash | Marlene & Sirius
“Please,” he teased, “I’ve been a gentleman since birth, it’s in my blood. Only a trained gentleman such as myself could get away with hair like this. James tried once – ugh. Disaster.” His lips twitched from an arrogant smirk to a genuine, warm smile when Marlene sat beside him and noticeably relaxed. Casually, he nudged her shoulder with his own. Her voice was much more playful than earlier, mirroring his, and Sirius was glad to spend some time with her that didn’t revolve around serving arsehole customers and drunken messes at the bar, only then communicating through pulled faces and quick orders.
He’d barely seen Lily at all, but he knew that Marls was the sort to look out for her crew so he didn’t doubt her words. In truth, Sirius could hardly remember seeing anyone, just a blurred rainbow of colours distracting his vision and anonymous hands shoving drinks into his. “Lily? Having fun?” He asked, “I’ll believe it when I see it. Though I’ll be sure to keep Potter away, wouldn’t want to ruin her mood with that disastrously handsome face of his.”
“Yes, your hair is exceptionally....fluffy.” To prove her point, Marly’s hand went out and ruffled the hair that was already a mess as is. A giggle appeared from her lips, one that wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t have alcohol in her system. In response to the nudge Marlene gave his side a poke. The fact that she was finally sitting still for more than a few seconds was welcomed and Marly wanted to stay seated possibly all night. The alcohol had given her the push to stay awake after all the work she put into the party but she could feel the lull of intoxication approaching.
Marlene’s laugh filled their immediate space and she had to grab a bottled water from the counter above to calm herself down a little. “Trust me, Siri, his face is not the problem in that ongoing saga.” Perhaps it was a little too much to be saying on the topic but Marly just couldn’t stop. “She needs to lighten up some and give the bloke a break.” It was the most of an opinion she’d given on it in quite some time and if there was anyone who could understand her perspective, it was Sirius.
