saw an ant on the bus today, what a horrible fate. moved an unfathomable distance from everything you've ever known because of forces you could never possibly understand. no matter how long you follow the pheromone trail you laid you'll never find your way home.
Surgeries and operations are being cancelled on the day of the queenâs funeral. These patients will have been on a waiting list for months if not years.
Everyone should be absolutely seething with rage.
my little cousin confidently declared that mother nature had a counterpart named daddy electric and i feel like this concept needs to be explored
Conservatives yap and yap all the time about how kids donât understand âwokeâ culture, but today the school age kids at the daycare had a field trip to a park and saw a really weird swing, and one immediately said âthatâs for people with disabilities.â And the others were like, âOh, people with disabilities, yeah that makes sense.â Like, the whole, clunky, politically correct phrase. These are kids who spend most of their time on tablets and donât like using five words when three words would do, and they said that phrase like it was natural to them.
Sometimes my kids will be making up characters and write pronouns on their pages. One day a girl turned to me and said âThis character is they/them.â They donât think of it as a foreign concept - different genders are just as new a concept to them as all the other stuff theyâre learning at this age, and like all that stuff, they regard it not as something to fight about, but just another facet of the world to learn, understand, and incorporate into the stories they create.
The kids handle learning these things just fine. Itâs the adults who are moaning pissbabies about it.

No I'm totally fine I swear

thinking about the time back when i was in middle school & we had a bomb threat at the school and after standing outside for a couple hours while the place was searched we got taken back inside around when it was my particular lunch period, and the school was like "we know you only have like 15 minutes left in the lunch period now because of that but we're not gonna give you any extra time lol we're getting back on schedule"
and the Entire block of middle schoolers in the span of like 5 minutes all quickly organized & agreed that we were NOT leaving until we had had our proper amount of lunch time and flat out all refused to get up when administrators kept trying to get us to because what were they gonna do? give like a hundred different students detention?
anyway after like 40 minutes we'd decided we'd been given our due and agreed to leave and go back to class & i think that display of collectivism & power of unity was what radicalized me
putting âlying to kids is okâ on the table immediately looks bad. but theres nuance. because kids deserve to have as much context and respect as anyone else you live with. but also. telling them that leaving doors open will make ants carry away the entire house is necessary until their brains can quantify the heating&air bill
