Love for Bharathiyar
Where will I start my quest towards his footpath!! He has always been my only reason for the love of my Tamil and his poems. It all started long back when I heard one of his works through a song( Title: “Suttum vizhi sudar dhan kanamma” from Kandukonden Kandukonden). Before I jump into the lyrics, I must mention the music which gives me goosebumps every time I hear(A.R.Rahman for a reason). It is so divine.
The way he uses his words and imagination is beyond description. He has written lots of poems under many genres but his poems about eternal love are total bliss and you dramatically will fall in love with his words. There are lots of speculation about his love poems whether he is describing his muse for Kannamma or Chellamma which is debatable. I'm not going into that. Let's skip that and go to the poem. I'm not going to translate each and every word as they are so evident and self-explanatory.That's the beauty of his work, it is simple and very easy to understand.

My favorite line in this poem is “ moothavar sammadhiyil vadhuvai muraigal pinbhu seivom, kaathiruppenodi idhupaar kannaththu muttham ondru!: where he says, the rituals of marriage that are done with the consent of elders, can wait ( we can get married later), how can I wait anymore? look now! I give a kiss on your cheek.
He is so broad-minded and just imagine the year he lived, he gave such a strong statement saying Marriage can wait but my love towards you cannot. OMG! isn't this A-mazing. I literally fell for him reading these lines and really wished what would be like if he lives now and changing our whole society for a good cause through his work.
Everyone has a breaking point towards something and I must say his poem lead me to fall in love with his man.
