Elijah looked surprised at the girl talking back to him. He was about to say something when the wolf shifted back to a human and went to grab some clothes. “You’re both Hales? I’ve met a Hale before,”
Derek sighed. “Their name wouldn’t happen to have been Peter, would it?” He was only asking because he had a score to settle with the rat bastard... And there was a part of him that just wanted to be around family.
“You must not known who I am or you wouldn’t be talking to me like that,” He stated. “Elijah Mikaelson. One of the Originals. A family of the first vampires. And you are?”
“Respect isn’t simply given. It’s earned and that’s true, even in the wild.” Her thoughts flashed back to her conversation with Hope. “Wait… You’re related to Hope, right? I don’t mean that in a threatening way. It’s just…. I met her at a bar and we got to talking and apparently, our dads could get along or something…” Honestly, she didn’t see her father getting along wtih anyone or anything but what did she know? “I’m Malia Tate and this is my cousin, Derek Hale. Our family has been the guardians of Beacon Hills for generations… Or something.” She wrinkled her nose and kneeled down to remove the collar from around her cousin’s neck. “Anyways, that didn’t answer my question. What are you? I got the Original part… But Original what?”
Grumbling, Derek shifted back and cracked his neck. “What she means to say is that she was raised by coyotes in the wild for eight years and has no respect for her elders, even those that are trying to help her.” He said gruffly, wiping off some dirt from his bronzed skin and disappearing just long enough to retrieve his clothes. Once he was dressed, he returned. “As she said previously, my name is Derek Hale, and it’s nice to meet you.”
Elijah looked between the girl and the wolf watching in mischief as she put a collar on the wolf. “Funny… I haven’t seen an RV around here,” He stated. “now… you want to tell me why two werewolves are on Crescent Pack territory,”
She nudged Derek and gave the leash a gentle tug, almost as if to shut him up. “First, we’re not both werewolves. Second, learn the difference between a werecoyote and a werewolf. Third, what the hell are you, anyways?” She wrinkled her nose. “And we’re not here to cause trouble. We’re on vacation. As long as you’re not out for world domination or all for harming innocent people, we’ve got no beef with you.”
He would’ve rolled his eyes if he could have. Way to not piss off the unknown creature, Malia. If he could talk, he would’ve scolded her but instead, he found himself biting his tongue. If she got them into too much trouble, he’d shift back and calm the situation.
Elijah didn’t recognize the werewolf that had been in the Crescent Wolf Pack territory. “You don’t belong here and we both know it,”
“Blue, I told you not to go running off!” Malia chided, jogging up to the pair with what could only be described as a sheepish smile. What were the chances this man knew differently? She knew he wasn’t human, but she also didn’t know just what in the hell he was and if she could, she’d nip the problem in the bud. “I’m so sorry if he caused any trouble. I had him on a leash but he escaped. Entirely my fault.” She flashed a pretty, little smile and pulled a collar out of her messenger bag, kneeling down to put it around her cousin’s neck. “If you’ve got no objections, I should probably get back to the RV before my dad starts to worry.” It was a lie but she hoped it wasn’t an obvious one.
Derek snorted and bristled, glaring at Malia as if to say, really?! That was the best she could come up with? His cousin had been hanging around Stiles too much. Still, he found himself somewhat thankful for her presence, no matter how annoying.
“Oh, please, Fido, you really don’t scare me” she said as she cracked her neck and slid down the tree before taking out a book to read. “Mind turning back into a more human form? Because this is going to get us no where. I sadly don’t understand dog”
He gave the woman a pointed look, almost as if to say he wasn’t about to let somebody he didn’t know see him in his birthday suit (it was bad enough all of his psychotic exes, with the obvious exception being Paige, had seen him in such a state), which was soon accompanied by a derisive snort of sorts. There was a part of him that missed the days when people feared him but then, of course, that begged the question at what cost. People ignored what he said, for the most part, and people wondered why he’d just up and left. Really, it wasn’t too hard to figure out.
Tatiana was in search of an old friend in the bayou, hearing about the tragedies that happened about 20 years ago. She heard of his being alive and hoped to find him when all of a sudden her ears picked up on a growl. She wasn’t afraid, Tatia just meowed and tilted her head.
Of all the things, there was a damned cat. Why the hell was it out here? Had the bayou become the new territory for the four clans? He doubted it but still, it was almost amusing to think about. Tilting his head, mirroring her, he gave her a look that all but screamed what in the actual fuck.
The red head tilted her head, when the raven haired wolf came closer to her, taking a seat and nudge her. She relaxed when she saw he wasn’t going to hurt her. “O-Okay. . Nice wolf. . “ She looked at him, his blue eyes looking familiar. She slowly crouched down and for some reason dared to pet him. Her hands going through his fur as she looked at his glowing blue eyes. “You look like. . Someone I know. . Well, your eyes. . “
He put up with her running her fingers through his fur for only a few moments before giving a derisive snort and jerking away. His ears pinned back briefly before flicking forward and if a wolf could do an exaggerated eyeroll, Derek probably would’ve. Lydia, think, dammit! He thought, knowing he probably would’ve sounded bitter, if he’d actually said it aloud. He could understand her fear and hesitation, though... Sort of. Because he was used to being on top of the food chain, such things didn’t even bother him, not even when he was faced with his own mortality.
Hayley was staying in the bayou for a few days to just get away from everything. She walked through the territory she knew all too well, coming across a wolf she didn’t know. If it wasn’t for the power she had, she probably would have been terrified of who ever it was. She squinted her eyes at them, crossing her arms, “stop with the teeth, this is my packs territory, so if anything I should be baring my teeth at you.”
He stopped snarling but eyed her warily. She didn’t seem to have a weapon of any kind, apart from her Supernatural given weapons, so he figured he’d play nice until she made the first move. He didn’t need to incite a war of any kind while he was on vacation... If you could even call it that. Between babysitting his cousin and working, he had quite the full plate. In the back of his mind, he just hoped Malia didn’t take entirely after Peter. Having another of him around was the last thing anybody needed.
Lydia wondered about the pull she was feeling for quite some time and decided to just follow it. Fighting it off would do no good for anyone or her. Her feet brought her near the Bayou, unsure as to why other than probably another dead body, she came into a stop once the growling started. Lydia eyes slightly widen as she put her hand down. “Why me.” She muttered. “I-It’s ok. . I’m not going to hurt you. . Or come here to do harm. . “ She froze in her place not knowing it was Derek.
Rather than attack her, he simply walked closer to her and took a seat, eyeing her with startling blue eyes. His tail twitched as he nudged her, debating on whether he should shift in front of her or do the polite thing and find his clothes... But by then, she’d probably run off. The most he could hope for is that she’d recognize him... Or something. He kept trying to come up with a solution, though, because the last thing he needed or wanted was for Lydia to start screaming at the top of her lungs.
With Malia raising Cain and doing things Derek probably didn’t want to envision his little cousin doing, he felt like he needed to go on a run and for once, he decided not to show any restraint. What he didn’t anticipate, however, was for somebody to come creeping up on him. Turning to face the potential threat, he bared his canines and a snarl rumbled in the depths of his chest.
Taking a final sip of her drink, before paying attention to the person that addressed her, she heaved a little sigh. “I’m sorry but… What?” She asked as her brow began to furrow and her fingers tightened around her drink. She knew she shouldn’t have been drinking, but she was on vacation and that’s what people did when they went on vacation, right? Besides, it wasn’t like she could get drunk (or even high, for that matter), so it was basically like drinking soda… If soda was top shelf whisky.
“Aren’t you too young to be drinking?” Derek asked, lifting a brow. Why the hell was he the one doing this when Peter should’ve had a handle on his own child? “Where the hell’s your dad, kid?” He asked, snatching her glass from her. “No more drinking until you’re twenty-one, at least.” He finished off what was in her glass and set it down on the counter, grabbing her by the arm. “Until your father shows up, you’re going to be bunking with me in the Bayou, seeing as how you can’t be trusted not to break the laws of the land whilst on your own. Next time, use some common sense.” He grumbled.
