Hmmm

1) The Wheel of Fortune was operated perfectly well - thank god that it didn’t fell off while spinning LOL Another funny thing is my boss’s name is on the wheel saying that the winner has a chance to have a meal with my boss/ ride on boss’s Telstra.

2) I went to Leeds Alumni dinner in Happy Valley. Being reunion with my friends who met in Leeds was great. It is so hard to get people together after we all start working so actually it was my idea to call them out -.- Anyway we had a good time there although the food wasn’t very great LOL. Another thing is...I met a girl who was a Canadian-Chinese and she is working in Ogilvy now - which is the industry that I fancy on working - She said it is not that hard to get in...there are also new faces in the office, the office is multi-cultural - I just have to apply and there will be a space for you...Sometimes I think I restrict myself and giving myself too many excuses to give a try...

3) I was invited to another event - my colleague’s birthday party. I was quite surprise that she invited me because I seldom speak in the office -.- 

4) Had a little argument with my boyfriend, which was super stupid - I always fell a sleep while facetime. He has to get up early to have a chat with me because of 8-hr time difference...I understand his anger but sometimes I feel so helpless because I am not beside him. I think I have to decide the insurance plan and my working holiday plan before my 30.

Weekend

Happiness is having your own time.

This Friday and Saturday nights I stayed up late at night because I wanted to finish the all episodes of Stranger Things. I watched it til 3am and I woke up at 11am next morning. Apart from the amazing show, I am so happy that I could lay on my bed, having my own time and watching my favourite show without any disturbance. Midnight is my favourite time ever - no one orders me, no one calls me, and no one disturbs me. 

I am sick of being ordered by somebody.

Ready for blue Monday...

And I am sad that I don’t have any more Stranger Things to watch... :(

Hmmm...

1) 

Really appreciate that R was willing to meet up and explain the insurance terms to me although she has already explained them for thousand times...She is really patient!! We also went to a Japanese fair and tried on some kimono. It is great that we felt happy because we did things together - seems like we are connected!

2)

My colleague is on leave so I have to cover her job. Apart from this, the admins from other regional offices seem like...disappear?? So I am covering the tasks for 3 people...suddenly having so much workload. However, I am grateful that my marketing manager is able to help me a bit and remind me that I can share the burden to other associates (actually I forgot they can help...) Anyway, I am glad that no one is urging me to complete the tasks...

3)

Recently, I realise ‘trust’ needs time to be built. I am glad that some colleagues are willing to share their inner sides. I also happy that I am a reliable person.

Luck

Sometimes I feel grateful that I am in a relatively relaxing working environment. Also, my colleagues are supportive.

In contrast, not everyone is as lucky as me. My friend, P is being scolded in the office and the colleagues are not supportive. I know she has tired her best to do the job but her boss never appreciates her effort. Her boss said, ‘your sadness lowers the morale of colleagues’ - he doesn’t have any empathy to the juniors. The most frustrated thing is, the boss lowers the confidence of P. She doubts her ability of resilience and she is afraid of getting out from this company to get a better job. I don’t think P deserves such a low quality working environment. 

By the way, although I am so quiet in the office, I was nominated as a MVP of the Month because I have done literally everything in the office (?). I don’t know who nominated me but I appreciate somebody knows me shinning in a little corner and working as hard as always.

Somehow I feel lucky to meet my boyfriend because his family is so kind to me although I am always being quiet and secretive. But still being shy shy in front of the seniors...

Kindness Walk

It was an office outing tonight and we participated in a volunteering event which is called ‘Kindness Walk’. Basically, as a volunteer, we deliver necessities, including blankets, toiletries, water, banana, clothes and to the homeless in the poorest area in Sham Shui Po and Nam Cheong. 

I always know homeless people are on the street without getting helps on the news. Some of them are forced to live on the street because of high rent and some of them are asylum seekers (the founder said the correct term of ‘refugee’ is ‘asylum seeker’ for raising the urgency and awareness of this issue amongst ordinary people). But I have never visited them because I don’t know the way of getting in touch with them. My colleagues said she has never known there are underprivileged people living in a concentrated area although Hong Kong is  prosperity city in the world.

I think the founder of this organisation, Jeff is really generous and kind. I feel quite ashamed as a local because the founder, as a foreigner is more concerned about the underprivileged people than people in Hong Kong. Jeff helps a homeless to change his life - from a homeless to a music performer. He scarifies his free time to help the strangers. Jeff is so helpful and patient that organise a private walk to our company. He answered my endless questions when we coordinated the walk together. We need more people like Jeff in Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, I feel lucky that I have a home and I appreciate what I am having now.

If you have got nothing to do other than work, that’s mean working has already occupied most of your life.

Since I have started working, I feel really bored if I don’t go out. So every week I ask my friends to come out.

Last week we went to Silvermine Bay (/Mui Wo) in Lantua Island. We didn’t expected that the number of foreigners (/gwai low) was much more higher than the locals. Also, it wasn’t crowded.

We had a calm and relaxing weekend.

Things I learn from Crazy Ex Girlfriend (No Spoiler)

Just finished two seasons of Crazy Exgf. 

It talks about a smart but depressed lawyer Rebecca Bunch who moved from New York to West Covina for her teenage love, Josh Chan. She tried so so hard to let Josh be her love and at the same time created so many dramas. Rebecca always denied she had o underlying issues to address that causing so many troubles. She thought the cure of her making chaos in her life was to move away from NYC and to marry Josh but she didn’t want to face her true self.

I have a friend who came back from the overseas and she sometimes moans to me that Hong Kong is a depressing place. She said if she could escape from Hong Kong, then everything would be fine. Sometimes I got the same idea too because I know how depressing Hong Kong is: high price of everything (rent, transportation, food, clothes), small flat to live in and politics. 

I thought of Rebecca on Crazy Exgf too. We know life is shit. Thus we have to adjust our attitude of how to deal with the shit life. My secondary teacher told me that being successful is not about IQ but attitude. Just like Rebecca, yea she moved away from NYC but she (kind of) messed her life in West Covina too. I think we can’t be move forward and be happy if we stick to the unhappy past.

This is also my note to myself after moving back to Hong Kong.
