Job Showcase: Red Mage

If the job calls for spells, Zorri'to dons his feathered cap. As a Red Mage he's skilled, and often spars with Alisaie, who was the first to introduce him to the art. Like her, he leans a bit more on his swordplay, but it might be because he just enjoys the freedom and more combative nature of this spell casting style.

While flattered when asked to teach, Alisaie agreed to show him the basics and suggested he seek out her teacher instead. Zorri'to did just that, and was thrilled to find not only was he willing, he was one of the Crimson Duelists. X'rhun, Zorri'to and Arya got along splendidly, and Zorri'to still drops in to visit with her from time to time.

In homage to the Crimson Duelists, Zorri'to chose to dress similarly to X'rhun, but with his own flair. That being less frills, more fur trim, and an open shirt.

ffxiv is awesome because within the game's community it's widely known that there's an entire datacenter occupied by people with max level characters who don't know how to play the game and also taylor. and there's another entire datacenter occupied by people with max level characters who don't know what the game is about and also kessel

ive been doing roulettes on crystal since my criterion static is there. cross datacenter matchmaking is going to destroy these people. im playing paladin, a class i havent bothered to learn the exact rotation of because im not max lvl yet, and getting second on the damage chart in trials as tank. first in dungeons. im seeing mechanics i never knew about. im watching the same people get blasted out the ring four times in a row. mixing crystal and aether players is dumping baby seals into an orca tank. this is an arcane ritual. this is human sacrifice. rivers of roleplayer blood will stream from the altar to get dynamis queue times under 20 years

Job Showcase: Pictomancer

Zorri'to would argue he's fairly average as a Pictomancer, but he greatly enjoys the freedom the job allows, particularly as a casting class. The creativity and range of motion helps him feel less restrained, and helps with his more twitchy energy. Being able to manifest thought in a literal sense is also quite fun.

While not an accomplished artist, Zorri'to often sketches in his journals, so it was a fairly easy starting off point for Krile's tutoring from there.

He chose a more generally travel and adventure ready style for this outfit. It's lightly armored, but still resembles a painters work clothes.

As much as I think it would be fun to have emotive anthropomorphic ears, I also recognize I can barely control my facial expressions. Like hell can I keep from Angry Ears-ing during meetings

Job Showcase: Summoner

While he struggled early on with the entry level mathematics required, Zorri'to makes for a decent Summoner if need be. Y'mhitra was a tough mentor and would keep him for hours on the work until she was satisfied with his progress. Despite this Zorri'to stays humble about it, joking he's lucky he can even summon a carbuncle.

He did receive much teasing from Thancred about it at the time, under the suggestion Zorri'to was doing it to get in good with Y'shtola. Which prompted the [then true but now hilarious] objection of "first of all-no. Second of all- have you seen her she is completely out of my league"

Like many summoners he dresses light and mildly exposed to draw in ambient aether. There is some minor metal and leather protection, but generally sticks to cloths and furs like the allied tribes.

nero tol scaeva may not be my favorite ffxiv character but he's definitely one of the FUNNIEST ffxiv characters

highlights include:

killing the lights and fucking booking it when you defeat him, and then just straight up deserting the garlean army with absolutely no remorse or hesitation

leaving the praetorium and almost immediately posting up under a streetlight in a stupid outfit in revenant's toll like some kind of clown hooker, waiting to direct wol to the crystal tower questline JUST so he could involve himself, too

showing up in the middle of a major city not even slightly in disguise to walk up to a meeting of world leaders and say "now it's clear the problem you're having is that you haven't involved MEEEEEE"

accepting wearing an ironworks uniform but dying it red because #aesthetics

magical girl armor transformation

bonus: cid keeping his sunglasses and then just silently handing them back afterward as if they do this all the fucking time

getting attacked and injured but just refusing to tell anyone about it until he literally collapsed

sneaking out of the infirmary but not before forging cid's signature on his expense report

telling his fellow garleans that if all they were gonna do is whine and refuse any solutions to their problems they could just fucking die for all he cares

truly one of the characters of all time. he's like a horrible beetle man. i love him.

Job Showcase: Black Mage

Like Healing, casting in general is not Zorri'tos cup of tea. Building up a whole lot of aether to blast you enemies is fun sure, but he feels vulnerable while doing it. Black mage in particular is the toughest for him to work with for this reason.

His teaching began with Papalymo and Coultenet whenever they could spare the time. He learned the more advanced arts while working with the Amaljaa in Southern Thanalan. Working as a mediator between them, the Flames, and the local Ala Mighan refugees, he eventually became a trusted ally and they trades knowledge of various skills.

The outfit however was definitely inspired by Y'shtola's and in a most unsubtle way. Thankfully his mate found it rather flattering.

The reaction to the FFXIV raids announcements is going overboard cause what do you mean "it's like they're putting ads in the game"?

Uhhh hours of raiding and playing with others is now seen as ads? Are you thrown a CLICK HERE TO BUY FF7 ON STEAM ad when you press ESC to log out? Is there a banner with EVANGELION WATCH HERE present on your screen when you afk in Limsa?

We've got EA planning to put ads in Sims and thinking about displaying ads when you PAUSE A GAME, and you guys are calling outright game content collaboration ads

So now that Bastion has been revealed- has there been any theorising on what the physical ranged DPS is? I have poked around the tags but haven't seen anything yet.

What is everyone hoping for if not? For me, I hope its another more flat damage sort like Machinist is. My most vanilla thought is a crossbow weapon, but I'd love to see a whip. I would in my wildest dreams love to see someone remember that the meteor hammer exists lmao

So I said it earlier and I'll say it again now, I think folks are gonna read too deeply into the falcon in the trailer. Already seeing folks speculate it's "Falconer."

They aren't going to do a second "it tames beasts" job less than 6 months after releasing the literal Beastmaster. The job would immediately be pegged with "so it's just the non-limited form of Beastmaster. When's non-limited Blue Mage?"

Anyway I still want a greedy double crossbow job that's got super mobility. Maybe make it the only ranged phys with positionals.

Sad to say but I think I have to agree. It's too unlikely they would release two beast commanding classes at once. It's more likely that this character may be a class we don't have access to, like geomancer. It's also entirely possible it's not a class at all, and simply a magically commanded messanger bird. If you're living on a bunch of islands in the sky and you don't have linkpearls, messenger birds is one of your first low tech options.

Ooohh that would be fun! I do see some demand for a marksman class that's less focused on gadgets and I would certainly be up for that✨️
