{Hey, friends! Just wanted to say thank you for being patient with me while I’m ... s-l-o-w-l-y ... getting this blog set up, and having to wait a long time for starter calls of all sorts. It’s all in preparation for a “smol” giveaway promo I’m doing as a “welcoming party” and thank you for supporting the new blog’s launch. Once that starts rolling, then I’ll jump into responding to starter threads.

I am going to be very casual with this blog, so I won’t be be highly active. I apologize in advance for taking a long time to respond to things! In relative news, my sister’s boyfriend is visiting from out-of-state for two weeks and so my attention will be divided from being online as we do stuff around town. 

Also thank you for the kind words all of you left about my friend’s passing. I’m getting in touch with the eldest and youngest daughter via Facebook, so I hope to hear some new news soon.}

{Yesterday, I was told that a friend of mine had passed away. We worked together at a private preschool five years ago. 

Sandy was around my parents’ age, and kind of became a surrogate mom when my own mom and I were going through issues. She was my mentor, and I valued every piece of advice she gave me (and it was a lot). She was there when I found out I was losing my house. Even when I decided to change jobs, she encouraged me to apply to the company that I ended up working for these past two years.

The last time I heard from her was just before last Christmas; we had planned to meet for coffee and catch up, but I had to cancel on her due to catching a really bad cold. Then that’s when everything started happening really fast— getting my lease terminated in January, relocating to a relative’s house in March, not getting along with said relative, moving AGAIN in May. 

I meant to contact her, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to tell everyone what was going on with me. So it had been in the back of my mind for the past several months to get back in touch with her... until I got the message yesterday. According to it, she had been battling cancer for four months.

I’m okay, just sad that she’s gone. And wondering about her family; she had four grown children and a granddaughter she was raising as her own. I’m guessing that her eldest daughter who got married last year now has custody of her niece. 

I don’t know if there’s going to be a service, if I would be invited, or if I would be able to go anyway (now that I’m out-of-state), but in any regards I still hope to hear about it (I’ll find out soon from a mutual friend we worked with). It just goes to show you that, if you got something to say to someone, there really isn’t a good reason to put it off and wait to tell them.
