I mean. I've honestly never thought that Alastor would use the aro/aroace flag anyway? He definitely strikes me as a non-SAM ace (doesn't differentiate between romantic and sexual orientation/attraction, something that is a relatively NEW distinction to make for most people), and they normally just use the ace flag. And it's directly supported by Rosie inherently using "ace" to also imply "aro".

All the microlabels are too complicated and specific for him and he's not bothering to learn any new words. He'd hate it and just go with the simple thing. Like that's 100% in character for him.

errrrm okay so I've seen this take on non-SAM ace being the reason alastor has only the ace flag around a bit and I'm sorry to say I wholeheartedly disagree with it

this isn't because of it being in-character or out-of-character for him to identify that way, but to me it just feels like an excuse to cover for the refusal to explicitly confirm alastor as aromantic. let's be so clear right now: the reason alastor only has the ace flag in merch isn't because he's supposed to represent non-SAM aces. it's because vivzie doesn't want to explicitly confirm alastor as aro to not upset shippers. I genuinely just cannot accept the non-SAM ace argument when literally ALL the ace hellaverse characters ONLY have the ace flag. you're telling me ALL of them are meant to represent non-SAM aces? and also on the other end, where are the non-SAM aros then?

and besides, I don't think we should act like the flags in merch are how the characters actively identify themselves as, because alastor doesn't even know what an asexual is LMFAO. if we were truly going in-character in pride merch I don't think he would even use a label at all.

and um also. aroace is just. not a microlabel. it's just a label that describes both romantic and sexual orientation. I don't really understand how that is supposed to be so much more complicated than just ace.

we know from both amir and past sources from faustisse that vivzie sees alastor as AROace, there is genuinely no reason why alastor shouldn’t also have aro/aroace flag in merch other than the ridiculous need to appease arophobic shippers who don't know how to deal with shipping with an aro character

okay I was SO convinced that baxter would be mspec in some way but there's no bi or pan flag in sight. is he gay?? I don't mind if he is but I'm just genuinely surprised because I was so convinced they were pushing for madmaid especially in the valentine's merch LMAO

I guess there's the possibility of unlabelled queer ??? since they usually used the blue gay flag when it comes to angel. but usually seeing the rainbow flag used like this the first thing that comes to mind is Gay

EDIT: this post was made BEFORE all of the official pride merch dropped. yes, with emily also holding the rainbow flag it's pretty clear now that rainbow is in fact supposed to be unlabelled queer
