lmao just got diagnosed with depersonalization and apparently have been completely depersonalized virtually my entire life looooooooool
:(
literally the stupidest rant ive ever come up with
everybody knows by leonard cohen slaps and ive been a longtime fan of sigrid and her cover of it for justice league was great in a musical sense b u t , it makes me uncomfortable how they used it in that context. like those lyrics have a lot of meaning in them, referencing how over the entirety of history injustice has been rampant. he references aids, slavery, and drug abuse, and he does it in a way that doesnt unintentionally make light of these issues, and in sigrid's version the meaning of those lyrics get completely changed even if the lyrics remain structurally the same.
like. everybody knows is essentially a dark humor, nihlistic version of we didnt start the fire by billy joel and when it was placed in the superhero movie the central theme switched from human suffering and the issues stopping from us rectifying that to the death of superman. and i think if its critically examined, that it can technically work in that context because superman was very much the symbolism for all that could stop human suffering, and his death could translate into a cultural retcon where things will revert to the cruelties that they used to be, so the death of superman at large means the death of human decency, BUT thats big stretch to make. at the end of the day justice league made a song examining a persistent cycle of human suffering about one person in this universe and that kinda yeets the entire point of the original song.

I would genuinely like to know who to blame for making these children so disconnected from the concept of imagination that they think the simpler explanation for what theyāre doing is that theyāre projecting their consciousness into one of infinite realities where fictional characters are real.
