the following post contains Spoilers for The Last Ronin comic book and Ninjago, if you haven’t seen or read either, please read at your terms.
So I finally got my hands on the Mysterious Ronin Lloyd Minifigure! Shoutout to that Lady at Target who helped me out!
anyways, while thinking about it, I did think of some comparisons to another particular Ronin character.
Mysterious Ronin Lloyd’s design has a few design elements, he wears darker colors, mainly leaning towards black. He also looks visibly older.
Now, the typical definition of Ronin is: A wandering or drifting samurai who has no master or lord.
Now, to all my fellow comic fans and TMNT fans out there, what do YOU think of when you hear of a character who, is a ronin in a specific storyline, also wears black and darker colors in said storyline, and is also OLDER in that storyline?
That’s right, I’m comparing Mysterious Ronin Lloyd, to Last Ronin Michelangelo.
Now, we obviously don’t have a story for Mysterious Ronin Lloyd as far as I’m aware, so I can’t just say that Mysterious Ronin Lloyd is a Lloyd where the rest of the Ninja are dead.
But I would also like to bring in the Upcoming Ninjago Legends Duskfall.
Now, what I’m about to say is based on speculation from the trailers and is no way confirmed yet.
In the Duskfall, we see either the descendant or child of Kai, who is presumed dead as of right now. The story obviously takes place in a possible future, similar to The Last Ronin.
For those who don’t know, The Last Ronin is an alternate timeline TMNT AU where Raph, Leo, Donnie, and Splinter are dead, leaving Mikey as the surviving member with a goal to take out Shredder’s grandson, Oroku Hiroto, in order to avenge his family.
In Duskfall, I feel like it’s safe to assume that if Kai’s dead, perhaps the other Ninja are as well. But what if that means Lloyd isn’t? He is Oni and Dragon after all, he lives much longer than the others and probably needs a lot more hits to permanently be taken down. Unless you’re a door of course. But even then, he’s the grandson of the First Spinjitzu Master, who can easily revive him as seen in March of the Oni. So who’s to say Lloyd isn’t wandering the world after losing what was basically the only family he’s ever known?
He could very well be seeking revenge on the The Oni or whoever took out the Ninja team.
That’s just a theory of mine.
Bonus, there might be a Ninjago Anime coming out that may be taking place after Duskfall, we could end up seeing Mysterious Ronin Lloyd there. But we haven’t even seen Duskfall yet, so who knows.
maybe I’m just crazy and the CMF Mysterious Ronin is just a cool 15th anniversary Lloyd figure. Maybe there isn’t any parallels to the Last Ronin. And I’m digging up scraps
also I’d like to mention I’ve only read the first batch of The Last Ronin, I haven’t read Lost Years or Re-Evolution. And also Duskfall isn’t out yet.
Anyways, the first dream was where i was at the Asian Market that’s like 30 minutes from my house. We saw a little baby ginger cat chilling on some cloth. Some guy came up and said we could keep her, so we took her home. I remember apologizing to my grandma since she doesn’t like cats. Anyways i accidentally shapeshifted the cat into a tirtle, so i changed it back into a cat. AND THEN when we got home it started clawing my head. I named the cat Ren. I was so sad when i woke up cause the dream felt so real and grew attached. I don’t think Ren opened their eyes once during that entire dream.
The second one is a bit more serious? Basically i guess everyone was dressed as Ace Attorney characters? And our bus driver decided to stop in a random field and kick us out. So we went to the TOTALLY NOT SUSPICIOUS other bus that was across the field. The guy was dressed up in a whole magician’s getup. Anyways i looked up the guy’s name. It was Meno or something. And turns out this guy had a history of kidnapping. So i was uneasy. He did perform a magic trick and managed to teleport me next to some girl i didnt recognize. She had this beautiful box braids though like oh my god. Then the guy didnt take us to school but my neighborhood, while smirking like a stereotypical villain? And i screamed extremely loudly. It was really weird.
Honestly better than the dreams i’ve had of people dying so, that’s always a plus
See i get why so many people paint Morro in the movieverse as a reliable older ninja cousin to Lloyd, but also i just can’t help see him as a weird 16 yr old hermit who lives on their roof and the only person who knows that is Wu. Everyone else thinks Morro is dead or missing and everyone blames Garmadon.
Just imagine post-movie, Garmadon approaches Wu all solemnly.
Garmadon: Wu, whilst I have apologised to everyone else for, y’know…trying to destroy the city and neglecting my son whilst I was at it, I really feel like I should. Uhm. I should…apologise. For something……
Wu: *raises an eyebrow*
Garmadon: A-about-ah…. About…uhm…Morro….
Wu: *both eyebrows are now raised*
Garmadon: *visibly sweating* Listen, I have no idea what happened to him, but I am so sorry that whatever did happened in the first place? I-uhm- I don’t think I could ever move on if anything happened to Lloyd like that *sniffle* s-so, whilst I know it won’t fix anything, I swear- *fans the very guilty fire tears from his face* I swear I’ll do what i can to find him.
Everyone else is hiding behind a door, listening closely. They’re all here for moral support, and possibly calm any world ending battle down after this, because seriously what do you do after the guy who possibly killed your kid comes to apologise, and none of them are totally ready for what might happen. Will Wu cry? Will he, for once, yell at Garmadon? Will he lose it? The ninja and Koko are gripping anything they can at full strength, and Lloyd is five seconds away from breaking in. Everyone should be happy Garmadon only cries fire, and doesn’t sweat it.
Instead, he blinks, both eyebrows now raised to be hidden under his hat, and responds very confusedly:
Wu: I…see. Then, would you mind getting the ladder, he’s hidden away in a small space in the roof again and maybe your four arms will be more useful than my flute.
And then, in complete bafflement, they watch Wu grab a ladder and start yelling up at the ceiling.
Wu: Morro! If you don’t get down and interact with your uncle at least once this month I will put all your favourite books into a safe for the next week.
And Lloyd, Koko, and Garmadon look just about ready to faint when a voice, deeper then they remember but still that of a child’s, responds
Morro: You wouldn’t.
And Wu, who is supposed to be grieving a son lost long ago, says
Wu: I will.
At least Jay’s stories about a scary ghost haunting their secret base at night was true. He always did swear he heard scary chuckles whenever staying over a bit longer at night. Turns out thats just how Morro sounds when watching Ninja fail videos.
But low key makes me think about how people with adhd have been raised their whole lives to value a day based on what they accomplished vs what they experienced
I think your point is excellent. But also consider:
That list might say things like “Paint a picture. Go birdwatching. Finish that great novel I started reading. Call my grandma. Learn to bake a cake. Visit my sister. Play piano.”
For me at least, the good/fun things are harder without meds too. I can have the best intentions, but following through is hard.
Yeah. I once made a post in which I complained about being frustrated at my brain, and one of the things I said was:
“I should not be struggling this much to do things that I want to do and have the time, space, energy, and skills to do.
Actually, when I list it all out like that, I should not be struggling at all to do those kinds of tasks.”
And I STILL somehow got a rant about capitalism in the comments. And I do understand where it’s coming from, yes, but goddamn did I not make myself clear? Did I not say Things That I Want To Do???
