               𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐈𝐑 ;

a gentleness that is palpable yet feeble. such things only came with tender vulnerability - fay sits in front, hands rolled into fists, a slight tremor through them.

mama used to say that most people just want to be listened 𝐓𝐎. that healing begins with an open ear and tender heart & in this moment, listening to fay speak of his past, tohru understands what mama meant.

           " fay - kun - may I - 𝐡𝐮𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 ? "

voice is full of gentleness, and when there is a nod of approval, tohru gently brings him in. any space between them closing, their embrace, like raindrops, begin to remove the day away.

"           you're brave, fay - kun. i see you and i 𝐀𝐃𝐌𝐈𝐑𝐄 you. "

𝐕𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐋-𝐒𝐀𝐍.

          he’s waiting for her at the gates. The day couldn’t have went by slower. It doesn’t show it on his face at all besides the tint of redness to the tips of his ears. He’s nervous. Offering to let her visit him , follow him home , stay the night if it got too late  ( it was a stupid suggestion , wasn’t it?   ) His brother would say it was a foolish mistake. His hands are placed neatly in front of him , his thumb rubbing circles on his pointer finger , an attempt to self sooth. 

It was quite the walk , he wonders if she would be okay. He woke up extremely early to make it to school every day. He was used to getting up to do chores in the early morning to avoid getting scolded when he was living with his teacher. So he guesses he just never grew out of it. His focus shifts to whether or not he finished his homework , not that it mattered right now, his nerves were flying off the wall. But again , it doesn’t show on his face. 

His eyes watch each student leave one by one , waiting for her.

    an honour to be able to visit him home - however,  a soft voice beckons, what if she messes up ? stream of thoughts rush through various scenarios ( unsure as to why the nervousness runs so deep )

 and yet, mama's words arrive to her, 

                 ' 𝐭𝐨𝐡𝐫𝐮, 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 '

   relief swells, weight dripping off her shoulders,  right ! yes! she just needed to be herself! Oh ! and hadn’t souma-kun said something similar as well? courage arrives, sweet as 𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐘 to the soul. a ring of a bell gently tugs her from her thoughts - the relief of students can be felt through the halls, containing a lighthearted yet contagious feeling. 

 a small bag is carried with gentleness ; her feet begin to carry her towards the gates, she begins to wonder that perhaps she should have gotten more things for him when her heart jumps,

" ah - !  Videl-san! Hello ! "

she hurries towards him, nervousness fading slightly, her entire being cascades with 𝐉𝐎𝐘,  " ah! I brought you this ---! t-thank you so much for allowing me to visit you today ! " tohru bows respectfully,

       “ i - i’m so happy ! thank you ! “

             there is an endless sky above them,

a thick and wonderful smell of cocoa lingers in the air ; there is a blanket that is shared by both,

" Videl - san, I - thank you. For letting me keep you company tonight ! "

however, there is fret that is laced within her ; there is a distance to Videl that had been shaking her.    courage,  courage  ; 

   “ . . . Videl - san -  𝐢 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 - ”  tears stream gently, rolling down, she was afraid -  terrified, as if she wouldn’t see him again if he were to leave. . .

   “  - p - please - “ surprised features halt as she is enveloped by a hug. 

  he is warm, reassuring - strong. any worries dissolve, tears stop as she buries her head into his shoulder.    (  does he know how healing his hugs are ? )

               to be vulnerable was to be courageous,

    wasn't that what mama once said ? that vulnerability was an admirable thing ? soft smile is not enough to express the admiration that is held within her ,

" 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬. " lips spoke faster than mind could comprehend, a slight blush crosses her cheeks,

" a - ah ! that is - that is to say, you! souma - kun, i admire you so very much ; you are someone worth fighting for ! "

. . . ah . . . did - that make sense ? m-maybe to uo-chan it would but

                    oh ━ a hug.

warm, gentle, soft - from souma - kun. 

   dazed, a small voice leaves timid features ,

         " thank you souma - kun - - - ah  -  your hugs  -  they remind me of mama’s. . . "

                that is,  they are reminiscent to HOME.
