Ella, Blair & Lyla have completed their softball tryouts for the 2020 season. No, they didn't make the Blue Jays, the girls play a faster sport. Ella has landed a spot on the U16 Waterloo Ghosts, Blair is now part of the U14 Wilmot Thunder & Lyla remains a part of the U10 Kitchener Klassics. It was an interesting & educational tryout. Sunday, September 1st was the first day coaches could contact players for the upcoming 2020 softball season & Monday, September 2nd was the first day they could hold tryouts in Ontario. Ella (U16), Blair (U14) & Lyla (U10) are trying out for spots on local softball teams and were on the field yesterday and will be back out there today. It is a different experience to get offers from different teams expressing interest in my girls coming to tryouts and even play on their team by reputation alone. All we want is to allow the girls to play great ball with good people & go as far as they want to take it. I am very proud of my girls growth & development as players & people. Me again! Hey Folks, I think you are all missing it. In my opinion this is a part of what is wrong with society. Too many people live their lives worried about how other people want then to look, act & be that they lose who they are. We all become the same and we are not. Being different - being you is what makes this world wonderful. If we were all the same how boring would things be? I do not want to be anyone other than me. I, like many others, fell in to the trap of trying to be someone everyone else wants them to be. On my road to 50 I have chosen to be a little less that way and relax and allow myself to be who I am. Some comments, mostly good but some negative, have been made about my beard in person or online but, no one has asked if I'm happy? I haven't asked you to shave you eyebrow off because I think you'd look better, younger etc... Here's a little infield movement from the "Sister Act". Ella is playing 2nd & Blair is playing SS. It's a super proud Papa moment every time I see these 2 playing together. We in our final weekend of the 2019 season playing in the Grand Valley League Finals. This game was played under the lights and was tied 4-4 after regulation time. We beat Brantford 10-4 in an international tie breaker. The game ended around 11:30pm.
