“Sonora Lac” // Helios // Yume
Hello Ambient gang, it’s been some months since I last posted but how could I not send new Helios out there? Hope you’re all having a swell Autumn, take this and reminisce on your spent Summers
"Red Gate With Starling" // Ian William Craig // A Turn Of Breath
One of my favourite pieces from one of my favourite Ambient records of 2014. Enjoy
"Oort" // Murcof // Cosmos
Humankind landed on a comet for the first time yesterday; Murcof's twinkling leviathan casts us into the same cold, dark void that Rosetta navigates in, punctuated occasionally by mysterious and ominous objects hurtling endlessly in the abyss.
Listen and feel immersed, helpless.
"Skifer" // Pjusk // Tele
On a bit of a Pjusk wave at the moment; couldn't tell you why I hadn't paid enough attention to his work previously, there's some incredible Ambient/Ambient Techno workings within his catalogue and this track is no exception. Chilly, Arctic minimalism contained in a more jovial shell; sounds a bit like Kiln just without the sun-drenched blissout.
"The Harbinger" // Julianna Barwick // Nepenthe
From one of my favourite albums of last year, this one just floats in on ethereal wafts of downtempo piano keys, fluffy drones and haunting, echoic vocal lines. Barwick's a stunner
"July" // Trampique // Face To Face
Hello friends. I can't believe this blog still gets the amount of activity that it does considering I update it far less regularly than I should, so here's a peace offering with some heartbreaking, very low key Ambient/Future Garage from Volor Flex's Trampique alias.
I'll try to be less forgetful from now on <3
"Retenir" // Brian McBride // When The Detail Lost Its Freedom.
McBride obviously has a pretty significant influence on the Stars of the Lid sound by the looks of this record; only just had a chance to finally get round to it and it's a solid listen. Recommended.
"Mon Retard" // Kyle Bobby Dunn // And The Infinite Sadness
You all have a month to go before you can hear the majesty of this album on its official June 10th release date, but feast your ears on this cheeky, interstitial beauty in the meanwhile and prepare yourselves for the most emotionally potent record of the year.
"Foxglove" // Young Magic // Breathing Statues
If anyone was familiar with the Young Magic debut Melt you might be pretty surprised with what they've come out with on this new LP. Pretty gorgeous stuff.
Boring Foothills of Foot Fetishville // Kyle Bobby Dunn
Reblogging because it's still gorgeous. Kyle makes me feel like it's ok to feel alone.
"Uniformity Is Undesirable" // Christopher Bissonnette // Essays In Idleness
Beautiful new record now out on Kranky, so you know it's gotta be good. Very different from his past works but still deeply organic in its sound.
"Secant" // Ben Frost // A U R O R A
I tell you, this new Ben Frost LP is fucking me up. Not due to be released until May but I wont tell anyone if you wont. Just wait for the "drop"...
On a bit of a noisy kick at the moment, more soon.
"Burial Society" // Have A Nice Life // The Unnatural World
"The Ending Of All Odds" // Kyle Bobby Dunn // Bring Me The Head Of
For all lovers of SotL, here's one of my favourite tracks at the moment.
"Over There, It's Raining" // Nils Frahm // Spaces
From his upcoming album Spaces, to be released on the 18th November. Don't want to miss this one.
"Stigmata II" // Tim Hecker // Virgins
From the upcoming album. You heard it here first folks.
